Niall held me tightly in his arms. I felt safe and I didn't regretted anything. It was like it was meant to be, but at the same time not.
"If you bite me?" I whispered the words out. "Does it hurt and what happens then?"
Niall seemed to understand my question.
"Lilly, I promised that I wouldn't force you."
I looked up at him.
"And I want to know what happens if you choose to bite me."
He looked at me and I noted that the answer was sitting deep inside.
"Yes it can hurt and your body will be paralyzed, before you get the strength back again. It's like if you die, but the difference's that you wake up again."
I let my fingers emphasize the hair on his chest and I smiled at him.
"Who bit you?"
He smiled a little bit and he looked up at the ceiling above us.
"A man who's not with us anymore." he said dreamily. "I ended up at the wrong place at the wrong time and he gave me no choice."
I wanted to know more. I felt my curiosity grew.
"Were your parents dead when you became a vampire?"
"I had to take care of myself, but I always ended up at wrong places. Instead of working, I sat at the pub and I was living a dangerous life." he looked at me. "Sam found me in an alley. He thought that he gave me a gift when he bit me. He thought I would pull myself together, but I become worse."
I listened and I saw at Niall he liked to tell about the past.
"I was all over the place." he continued. "It took me many years before I realized I couldn't just kill people for pleasure's sake."
"So you bought blood?"
"No, at that time I couldn't buy blood." He was amused. "Instead, I had people like slaves, as blood donors. I had three people with I took turns to bite."
"They became vampires, then?"
He shook his head.
"No, to become a vampire you have to suck the blood from your creator." He didn't hesitate to tell me more, and he told me everything. "If I bite you, you must then bite me so that you get my blood in you. Then you become a vampire. The ones that I had as slaves never got the opportunity to bite me. I made sure they never got that opportunity."
I frowned. It didn't sound nice.
"So you had locked up?"
"In the cellar!"
Okay, where it appeared that cellar again.
"Is that why it's locked down there?" I asked. "Do you still have slaves?"
Niall shook his head. He smiled at me and he ran his hand through my hair.
"No, darling, I have neither slaves or anything down there."
I sat up quickly in bed and I smiled at him.
"Can't you show me the rooms down there then?"
"Why not?" I asked. "We can always go and exploring this house?"
Niall shook the head, and he pulled me down towards him again. I landed on top of him and he laughed a little bit.
"I only want to lie here and hold you close to me."
I sighed resignedly. Okay, I also wanted to be near him, but at the same time I was curious about everything that he hadn't shown me. Niall took his arms around me and he held me firmly against him.
"Come on!" I whispered praying and I tried to look like a sweet puppy. "Can't you show me the cellar?"
He chose not to answer and instead he kissed me. I understood that he was trying to deceive me, but I didn't give up.
After much persuasion, we put on our clothes. Niall took my hand and he took me to the cellar. He was looking up the keys to the doors and then we went down the stairs.
"There is an old cellar?" I asked quickly. Niall nodded and he made sure I didn't fell down the stairs.
"I kept the basement when the house was built."
"So there was a house here before this house?"
He laughed and he nodded.
"A stone house." he replied. "I tore the whole thing down and I built new. Times changed and so did I."
We came down the hall and he walked up to the first door. I was curious and my whole body tingled. He unlocked the door and he smiled at me.
"You look like a child on Christmas Eve?"
"Yes, it almost feels like Christmas."
Niall opened the door and I was almost disappointed. It looked like a warehouse and there were antiquities. I chose to still walk into the room and I tried to see in the dark what was there.
"I've lived a long time." I heard Niall say. "These are things that I have collected during my life."
I walked up to a painting. It depicted a man standing with a gun. He had old clothes on and when Niall came up to me, I noticed that it was Niall who was on the painting. I was almost surprised.
"Yes, it was popular to get portraits like that one. We had no cameras at that time."
I laughed a little bit and I leaned foreward. I looked at the board and it was actually a good painting.
"You haven't changed much?"
Niall laughed at my comment.
"No I haven't been older."
I saw stood up again and I spun around and looked at him.
"How is it to never die?"
He shrugged and smiled a little bit to me.
"I'm used to it!" he said, almost sighing. "What about getting older? There's the same issue. You don't know what it is and you don't feel in your body that you grow older, just as I feel like I'm standing still in ages."
I understood him.
"How old were you when you became a vampire, then?"
He smiled a little bit.
"I have answered that? I was twenty-one years old."
In a way I felt sorry for Niall. Personally, I believe that it was hard not to be older and to live forever.
"No, don't feel sorry for me!" he answered quickly and he interrupted my thoughts. "I have experienced a lot and I have seen many things. It's more than normal gays get to experience."
He took his arms around me and he pulled to him.
"If I had died, I hadn't met you." he whispered lightly. "I'm grateful for every day that I'm here."
I smiled a little bit and I blushed. Okay, there he had a point.
"I'm also glad you are here."
Niall kissed me. I took my arms around his neck and I felt how he steered me. I moaned lightly and I followed in his movements. His lips were so prefect, and he knew how to kiss.
We both jumped. It was Harry's voice.
"Is anyone home?"
We left the cellar and we walked up the stairs. Harry stood outside the door and he seemed relieved when he saw us.
"I thought something had happened?"
Niall smiled and he took my hand. He closed the door and then he looked curiously at Harry.
"What do you want?"
Harry blushed a little bit and he laughed uncertainly.
"I was just passing by." he said, he didn't know if he would look at me or Niall. "I just wondered how you two are doing and if she's, Lilly, okay?"
I blushed. Niall laughed at first, and he seemed almost amused.
"Yes, you see that she's fine."
Harry nodded, and he looked curiously at me.
"And you know everything?"
I nodded. I assumed he meant that vampire part. Harry seemed relieved and he smiled big.
"So have you decided it yet?"
Direct Niall became serious and he looked at him with a warning glance.
"No one can force her to say yes." He said fast. I realized that Harry wanted me to join them, but still it didn't feel right to become a vampire for me.
"But we have to have an answer soon." Harry whispered, almost uncertain. He looked at Niall and his eyes were troubled. "You know how important it is to..."
Niall interrupted him.
"That's between me and Lilly." he said firmly. "No one else should interfere in what happens or doesn't happen. I promised her not to force her."
