6. chapter 6
"Vanessa you have had this smile on your face all day. You may be bubbly but not this bubbly." My friend Zoe said to me. It was true I'm a very nice bubbly person but today just felt like a fairytale. I couldn't get last night with Luke off my head. I had spend my entire day doodling hearts on my notes and skipping in the hallways. "I don't know what your talking about." I said stuffing more of my sandwich into my mouth.
I was always shy and quiet and kept to myself and my friends were fine with me being that way but now they could tell something big was going on and I wasn't sharing. I could tell Caitlin was upset about it. She had hardly spoken to me today. "How come you didn't answer any of our texts last night?" Anna questioned me. "I was really busy with homework." I lied. They all rolled their eyes. Suddenly my phone buzzed and I looked at it. A text from Luke. I quickly put my phone away hiding it from my friends. I really did want to tell them about last night and all about Luke and my feelings and all that stuff but I didn't even know what all my feelings were just yet.
The bell rang to dismiss lunch and I got up and went to my next class. It was just Caitlin and I walking together along with the awkward silence between us. "Sooooo did you finish the ess...." I began to ask before she cut me off. "Did you enjoy your ice cream yesterday?" She said. "What do you mean?" I said shakily. She knew. How did she know? "Did you forget my cousin works there? She texted me saying you were there with some cute blonde boy. Whats going on Vanessa and why are you hiding it from me?" She said pouting. I could tell in her eyes she was upset. She told me everything that she didn't tell anyone else from her finding her dad cheating on her mom to her parents divorce. We had been best friends since I moved here. She was the only person who was nice to me at first. I had to tell her.
I began to tell her everything from the night at the club to the awkward meetings in the hallway to last night. I couldn't stop smiling talking about last night. To my surprise she didn't seem upset anymore. "Awww Vanessa I'm so happy for you. I can't believe that the Luke Hemmings from 5 seconds of summer has a thing for you." That sounded weird on so many levels. First I didn't see him as the boy in that popular band. I saw him as the attractive tall boy at the club. Second hearing her say he had a thing for me. I don't even think that was true. I laughed it off not saying anything else I didn't like the sound of those words coming out of her mouth.
I say down in my French class and looked at my phone. I had been so caught up in telling Caitlin everything that I had forgotten that Luke texted me. "I hope you're having a wonderful day" is was it read. An instant smile came to my face as I read it. Why did this boy have to be so adorable.
