Behind the Lyrics

Ever wonder who the girl behind the song is? Vanessa was a good girl who studied hard and focused on achieving her dads goals of moving back to America and going to Harvard. She thought that was her dream as well until she meet someone who changed her whole meaning of life.

4. chapter 4

I looked in the mirror. My hair was a little messy and my minimal makeup was smudged. The typical after school look. I was about to get ready for my date with Luke. Was it a date? No it was just two people who hardly know each other going to get ice cream and talking. Not a date. As much as I wanted it to be a date I didn't want to say it was one.

I opened up my closet to choose what I was going to wear. It had to be impressive but not too impressive. It had to look like I had plans after school so I just threw something on oh so casually. I was never one to "dress down" but I didn't want to dress up to much for this. My closet was practically a rainbow with no dark colors because according to my dad that's "not showing the right image." I threw on a pair of white skinny jeans with a tucked in blue buttoned up shirt with my gold belt and gold sandals. I looked in the mirror and tried to fix my wavy long brown hair with a white headband. I fixed my makeup a little bit applying a little bit more powder. I had no idea how this make up stuff worked. I looked in the mirror one more time and decided it was good enough. Why did I have to worry too much anyways? Not like I was trying to impress this boy. Ok maybe just a little.

I grabbed my purse and raced down the stairs and grabbed my car keys. "And where are you going young lady?" I heard my dad day behind me. Crap I didn't think of what I was going to tell him. "Oh um I'm going to the library to meet my friend Lucy to do some school work." I lied. For a girl who never lied I was beginning to get real good at it. "And where are your books!" He questioned. Well crap again. "Oh it's extra credit research that's why we're going to the library." Damn I was good at this. "Alright don't stay out too long it's a school night understand?" I nodded to my dad and headed out the door.

I parked my car at the icecream shop Luke told me to meet him at. I got out of my car and walked around looking for him. I found him leaning against his car. He looked so cool. He smiled at me as I began to walk his way. "Hey" he said to me beginning to stand up straight. "Hi" I said shyly. "You ready to go in?" He said motioning his arms to the door. I just smiled.

I was impressed when Luke held the door open for me. Guys never really did that anymore and I didn't expect it from mr.rockstar Luke Hemmings. The lady at the counter greeted us as we walked in. This place was empty just us and the server. "What can I get you two today?" "I will have a vanilla cone." Luke said. I gave him a look and said "wow how boring." He looked at my and laughed as I went up and said "I will take cookie dough." "Wow how original." Luke added. I just rolled my eyes and smiled "whatever." I said. The lady began ringing us up as I pulled out my wallet. "What are you going?" Luke questioned me. "Paying for my icecream..." I said confused. He just laughed. "Don't worry I've got it." I was shocked. He opened the door and payed for my ice cream. Does that me it really was a date?
