"Oh, come on," Dipper groaned. He'd thought that he'd at least have a little longer to prove they could make it before trouble came by.
They shut themselves back up in the room, but it was too late. Bonnie saw them enter it. It didn't seem like she'd be letting up anytime soon.
Mabel and Danielle let Dipper go and threw themselves against the door. Without the extra help, Dipper crumpled to the floor with a cry of pain.
Mabel, still pressed against the door, apologized. She hadn't thought about how letting go of Dipper could have led to him falling.
"What're we gonna do?!" Danielle screamed, panic and fear highly evident in her voice.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Bonnie began her attempt to open the door. Mabel and Danielle shoved all their weight against it to keep it shut.
"I don't know. We can't stay in here. Is there another way out?"
"I don't think so."
Danielle spoke quietly, "There's one thing that can be done... Someone has to go out there..." At first, both the Pines twins believed she meant throwing Dipper out to Bonnie. Then she continued, "Bonnie only wants to get us. One of us should be enough for her. And it'll have to be me, not… not you two..."
Dipper's jaw dropped at what she was proposing. "You can't possibly..."
"She has to take someone. She won't go until she has someone. There aren't many choices. Mabel and I could escape and leave you, but..." She paused and looked at Mabel with large eyes. Sadness was swimming around in their deep blue coloring. "I lost my brother. You don't need to lose yours. And he needs you too."
"No. It's fine. Really... Besides what's the point in being one half of a whole? You two need to stay together, and... I need to join Danny." A tear slid down her cheek. She offered a sad smile to the two and opened the door just a crack before she was pulled outside by a giant purple paw. Dipper and Mabel listened in horrified silence to soft sobbing fading away.
