54. Chapter 60 : I'm Making It Official

Calum's POV

I knocked on the door and did a quick breath check.

Luke opened the door, again.

"What's up, mate?" He asked.

"I'm here to pick up Helen," I replied.

"Oh, right."

He turned around and called out Helen's name.

"Hey, try this guacamole, it's amazing!" Luke said walking back inside.

I followed him and he held up a bag of tortilla chips and a bowl of guacamole. I took a chip and dipped it in the bowl. My mouth exploded with different flavors as I chewed.

"Its good, huh?" Luke said.

I nodded and dipped another chip.

"Who made it? It's so good," I said and ate the tortilla chip.

"Helen did, and I saw her make it so now I know how to make this green goodness," Luke replied.

"What are you guys doing?" Helen asked.

Luke turned around, "Eating guac."

"Is it really that good?" Helen asked.

"You haven't tried it?" I asked.

"No," she replied.

She dipped a chip and ate it.

"Damn, this is good. I surprise myself," She said.

"Ready to go?" I asked.

Helen nodded.

"Alright, let's go, then," I said.

"I'll be home later, okay Luke" Helen said.

"Great, more guacamole for me," Luke replied.

I stole another chip with guac.

"Later, mate," I said.

"Bye," Luke said and closed the door.

I took her hand and led her to my car. I opened the door for her and she got in. I walked to the other side and got in the driver's seat.

The sun was already down, so I decided to go to the one place that I know Helen will enjoy.

"So how was your day?" I asked.

"It was good, just stayed home. How about you?"

"Mine was okay. This is definitely the highlight of my day," I said truthfully.

I quickly looked at Helen, she had a smile on her face, I turned my attention back to the road.

After about ten minutes I was driving my car onto the dirt road. The road elevated into a hill and I drove up.

"Are going to The Cliff?" Helen asked.

"Yes," I replied.

"Really?! I know I only went there once but I already love it," She beamed.

I smiled.

I stopped the car and turned off the ignition.

"Still breathtaking," Helen said.

"You really are," I whispered.

"What?" she asked.

"Are you hungry?" I asked quickly.

"Yea a little," She replied.

I reached into the back seat and brought out a pizza box.

"No wonder it smelled like pizza," Helen said.

I laughed and opened the box. We both got a slice and began eating.

"You like The 1975, right?" I asked.

"I love them," Helen replied.

"Great," I said and plugged in my phone into the car's speakers. I clicked on the playlist that had all of The 1975 songs.

'Girls' was the first song.

"I love this song," Helen said.

I nodded and took a bite from my pizza.

We sat there, eating pizza and listening to music.

This is like a getaway. Here with Helen in one of my favorite places. Pure isolation.

We're putting the world away, getting disconnected.

We're tuning out the static sounds of the city that never sleeps.

We sat there in silence enjoying the view and eating pizza.

Nothing better.

After we finished eating the pizza I looked at Helen. Still beautiful.

"Want to go out there?" I asked.

Before she could reply, Helen was already out of the car.

"Coming?" She asked.

I nodded, rolled down the windows and turned up the volume just as 'Settle Down' started to play.

I got out and sat on the hood and leaned against the windshield.

The night was warm and perfect.

I wrapped my arm around Helen's shoulders as she leaned back. She hugged my stomach and pressed her body against mine.

The music played from the car as we looked at the night sky and the cityscape.

I'm tired of going on these dates and knowing that she isn't mine. That she isn't my girlfriend. I'm wrapped around her finger and I don't want her slip from my fingertips.

I can't take it anymore.

I sat up

"What's wrong?" Helen asked.

"Helen, I like you. So fucking much. I have gotten the chance to get to know you and I'm glad I did. You are an amazing human being and so damn beautiful in my eyes. You're like perfection. And I don't want to walk into school and have guys looking at you like a piece of meat. I want them to know you are taken. I want those guys to know that you're mine. And nobody else's. I know I sound possessive and you might not like it, but I like you and I know we both share the same feelings for each other."

"What are you trying to say Calum?"

"I'm trying to say, well I'm trying to ask." I took a deep breath, "Will you be my girlfriend?"

I looked at Helen, she was staring back at me, her lips slightly parted as if in shock.

"Are you making it official?" She asked.

"Yea," I replied. "So is that a yes or a no?"

I ran my fingers through my hair, maybe this was a mistake. But before I can say anything else Helen threw her arms around me and pressed her lips against mine. She is always full of surprises. I felt her straddle my lap and I held her waist. She pulled away, breathless.

"Yes, Calum Thomas Hood, I will be you're girlfriend," She said breathing heavily.

I smiled widely at her before she pulled me to her lips once more.

I can't believe it. I have her. She's mine. I can finally, gladly say I am taken by the most amazing and beautiful girl in my entire world.

And she's my girlfriend.
