We had stopped at McDonald's to get some food. Ate our meals there, then went to my house to pick up the box, wrapping paper, and bow, that Luke worked so hard to get. Ashton followed us in the car behind. We all got out and met in the front lawn.
"Alright, I'm going to go pick up my mum right now. Her flight is supposed to get here like around 4:30, and its 3:47 right now. So Helen go get the stuff and get outta here." Luke instructed.
I nodded and jogged towards the house. Unlocked the front door and grabbed the supplies off the couch. I carried the box outside and locked the door behind me.
"You aren't going to trip, right?" I heard Michael ask.
I had the box in front of my face so I couldn't see, but I managed to peak around it.
"Nah, I'm good," I replied.
"Okay, let's go then," Ashton said.
"Goodbye Luke," I said.
"Bye Helen," Luke replied.
I walked over to Ashton's car, put the box in and I followed. Michael sat in the back with me and Calum rode shotgun. Luke got in his car and drove off towards the airport.
Ashton started the car and started driving.
"We're going to my house," Ashton said.
After a couple minutes of silence Michael spoke up.
"Can you put some damn music on? It's beginning to sound like a funeral in here."
Calum turned up the radio and 'Animals' by Maroon 5 blasted from the speakers. I got out and we followed Ashton to the front door. He opened it and gestured us to the living room. I placed the box on the floor and sat on the comfy black couch. The living room walls were decorated with family portraits.
"Ashton are those your siblings?" I asked as I looked at the picture that showed Ashton standing behind a small girl and a boy.
"Yea, Harry and Lauren," Ashton replied with a smile.
"That's very cute," I said.
"Okay, lets get to the box wrapping," Michael said.
"Do you fit in the box?" Calum asked.
I shrugged and stepped into the box. I got in a fetal position.
"Yup, I fit."
"Okay, we'll put a small piece of tape over the top, so when your mum unwraps the box, you could easily jump out," Ashton said.
"Kay," I said.
"Should we poke holes in the box?" Michael asked.
"I'm not animal," I said.
"Yea, but you are a human who needs air," Michael continued.
"True, put a hole in here," I said tapping on the spot that was next to my face.
"Get a knife," Ashton said.
I heard foot steps and drawer open, followed my various metal utensils beings moved around. A couple of seconds later the tip of a sharp knife started cutting a circle in the cardboard.
"I didn't cut you, did I?" Ashton asked.
"Nah, you're good," I replied.
He finished cutting the hole and popped out the circle. I could see the white carpet that was on Ashton's living room. I poked my head out of the top of the box and gave a thumbs up.
"Are we going to use all three rolls?" I asked.
"i think, just one," Michael replied.
"Coolio," I said.
Calum ripped the plastic wrap from the roll and started laying it out. I stepped out of the box and put it in the middle of the laid out roll.
"Alright, this will be easy," Calum said. I nodded.
"Okay, get back in the box, Hemmings," Michael said. I eyed him and got back in the box.
"See ya in a couple of minutes, or hours," Ashton said closing the top of the box, and putting a piece of tape over it.
I heard paper being moved and wrinkled. The sound of tape being unrolled filled my ears. Several hands were tapping the box. The small whole from which I was looking out from was covered, only to be opened once again.
"You good, Helen?" Calum asked.
"Yea," I replied. I checked my Twitter, since I had various minutes to spare. A couple of minutes later, I heard a fart noise.
"What the fuck?" I asked. "Did one of your guys fart?"
"No, that was a message from Luke, he said to go to his house, he just got there." Ashton replied.
"Alright let's go then," Michael said.
"You two carry her, I'll open the door." Ashton said.
I felt the box and I being lifted into the air. I looked through the small hole, Ashton stood the door, holding it open.
"Damn, Helen, you are light as fuck," Michael said.
"Thanks," I reply.
I was placed in the backseat and I heard the door close. The engine started and the car began to move.
"What if I slide and hit the door?" I asked over the music.
"You're good, Calum is holding you," Ashton said.
My throat felt a little dry when Ashton said that.
"I got you babe," Calum whispered.
My heart fluttered when he called me 'babe.' Damn, the way that boy makes me feel. I'm falling for Calum, no denying that. Especially after we shared that heated kiss. Yep, I'm fucked. I have a crush on my brother's best friend. What will I do?
I decided to text Adin.
Me: I need your help!
He texted back almost immediately.
Me: I have a crush on Calum
Me: He's Luke's best friend!
Adin: Ha you're fucked.
Me: Gee thanks.
Adin: I'm kidding, honey just ask him out.
Me: You ass, you just want your hundred bucks!
Adin: You know me so well. :)
Me: Yes I do, and I gotta go, text you later, maybe.
Adin: Bye, hun.
The car lurched to a stop.
"Alright, we're here Helen," Calum said.
I nodded even though they couldn't see me..
"Don't be nervous," Michael said.
"I'm not," I replied calmly, though my heart was racing. I changed position so I was sitting on my shins, ready to jump up.I was lifted once again and felt the box being moved. I heard a doorbell ring, followed by Luke's voice.
"Hello, Liz! We brought you a welcome back present," Ashton said.
"Yea, you'll love it!" Calum said.
"Luke picked it out himself," Michael added. I tried not to snort at Michael's comment.
"Thank you boys!" I heard a women's voice. That must be my mom. My heart started beating faster and tears formed in my eyes.
I felt the box I was in being placed on the floor and feet shuffled towards each other. I supposed everyone was getting a hug. After a minutes or so Luke spoke up.
"Go ahead and open it mum."
"What is it?" My mother asked.
"You'll see." He replied.
I heard the paper being ripped apart and my anticipation, anxiety, and happiness grew.
"Why does it have a single piece of tape on it?" Mom asked.
I took this opportunity and jumped out.
