26. Chapter 26 : Gotta Get Out

Helen's POV

We arrived at Michael's house. Calum appeared shortly after.

"Alright all, this is my house, obviously," Michael said. He walked to the front door and unlocked it. He opened it and motioned for us to go inside. We shuffled inside. It was a very cute home. The living room had different pictures of Michael as a baby.

"Aww, Mikey you made such an adorable baby!" I said.

Michael snorted, "Thanks."

"Michael is that you?" A women's voice asked.

"Yea, mum," He called out. Michael's mother appeared from the kitchen, she hugged Michael.

"Hello boys," she said.

"Hi Karen," Ash said. They all got a hug and she noticed me standing there. 'Who is this young lady?" She asked.

"Hello, Mrs. Clifford, my name is Helen Hemmings, I'm Luke's sister," I said and stuck my hand out.

She shook it and smiled, "Sweetie call me Karen. But Hemmings? You and Luke look nothing alike, except for the blue eyes of course."

"We've been told but we are siblings," Luke said.

"I can see that," She said.

"Well mum, Helen came here to see us play," Michael said.

"Okay, go on do your thing," Karen said and smiled.

"Lets go guys," Michael said and led us our of the kitchen.

"It was nice meeting you Karen," I smiled.

"Nice meeting you too, Helen," She replied sweetly.

I followed the guys.

"Michael your mom is so nice," I said.

"I know," Michael replied.

We walked down a flight of stairs and into a medium sized garage. There was a brown beaten up old couch, a drum kit, two electric guitars, a bass, and a few acoustic guitars. Three microphones where plugged to some amplifiers.

"This is our stage," Calum announced.

"Nice," I said.

'We don't usually have an audience, except for our parents. And that one time we played the Annadale Hotel, but there were only 12 people." Luke said.

"Well now you got me, so let me hear ya play," I plopped down on the couch and waited as they got ready.

Calum picked up the bass, Luke and Michael got their guitars, and Ashton pulled out his drumsticks.

Luke fixed the microphone stand. They plugged in their guitars.

"Alright, this song is called 'Gotta Get Out'," Luke's voice echoed from the small amplifier.

"WOO!" I cheered.

The beginning guitar strings started playing and Luke began to sing.

Even when the sky is falling down, Even when the earth is crumbling around my feet. Even when we try to say goodbye, you can cut the tension with a knife in here. Cause I know what'll happen if we get through this. And it the earth ends up crumbling down to it's knees baby, we just gotta get out, we just gotta get out. And if these skyscrapers tumble down and crash around baby, we just gotta get out, we just gotta get out.

Cause I feel so damn lost, and it comes with a cost of being alone. Everything is falling down, we're suffering, helpless thoughts and out we sing prayers go to the sky. And if the earth ends up crumbling down to it's knees baby, we just gotta get out, we just gotta get out. And if these sky scrapers tumble down and crash around baby, we just gotta get out, we just gotta get out.

And if we fall, it's not your fault, shadows covering, our selfish foes, and as our love can go out on a high note. Even when the sky is falling down, even when the earth is crumbling around my feet, around my feet. And if the earth ends up crumbling down to it's knees baby, we just gotta get out, we just gotta get out, and if these skyscrapers tumble down and crash around baby, we just gotta get out, we just gotta get out. We just gotta get out, we just gotta get out, we just gotta get out. We just gotta get out, we just gotta get out.

"That was amazing! I love the song! You sounded great! did you write the song?" I asked.

"Calum wrote it, he's the song writer in the band," Michael said.

"It's a very beautiful song Calum," I said.

"Thanks," He blushed.

"Do you have any other songs?" I asked.

"Yea we have two or three more," Ashton said.

"I wanna listen to them," I said.

They ended up playing two more songs called 'Unpredictable' and 'Too Late.'

"You guys are really good," I said. "Ash you are so talented at the drums."

"Why thank you," he said.

"One day, 5 Seconds of Summer will be in lights and in magazines. Girls will be screaming your band name and your name. Fans will sing back lyrics to 'Gotta Get Out' and 'Unpredictable' and 'Too Late' and much more songs. Your songs. This garage will be gone, replaced by a huge stadium stage. There won't be a crowd of 12 people, there will be a crown of 12 thousand people.  5 Seconds of Summer will be bigger than ever before."

"That was beautiful," Ashton said wiping away and imaginary tear.

"Its true. Look if you guys ever make it big, I will get a tattoo on my right wrist that says 5 Seconds of Summer and you logo on it. And that's a promise," I say.

"Wait are you serious?" Calum asked.

"Yea, I'm dead serious," I replied."You should write more songs if you are going to make it big."

"We're working on it. We do have a breakup song, but it's still in process. We'll show it to you when it's done," Luke said.

"What's it called?" I asked.

"Independence Day," Michael said.

"Sounds good," I nodded my head.

"What time is it?" Calum asked.

"Like at six," Michael replied.

"Helen, I'm gonna stay here with the guys, I'll have Ashton take you," Luke said.

"Okay," I said.

"I'll take you," Calum said.

"Aren't you gonna stay?" Luke asked.

"Nah, I got something else I have to do back home," Calum said.

"Alright, thanks Cal," Luke said.

"No problem," Calum replied.

"See ya at home Luke," I said.

"Bye Helen," he replied.

"Bye Michael and Ash, see you guys tomorrow," I waved at them.

"See ya," Michael and Ash said.

Calum led me to a door that opened into the driveway. He opened the car door for me and got into the driver's seat. He pulled out of the driveway and onto the road once again.

"I didn't know you wrote songs. I mean I knew you were in a band, but I didn't know you wrote songs." I said.

"Yea, it's quite easy," Calum replied.

I nodded and just stared at the road ahead. The whole car ride was quiet and a little awkward. Hope that almost-kiss doesn't ruin our friendship. Calum stopped the car in front of my house. He got out and opened the door for me.

"You know you don't have to escort me to the door," I said and walked side by side with Calum to the front door.

"I know, but I want to," Calum said slyly.

I smiled. I unlocked the front door and turned to Calum. He stared back at me with his big brown eyes. I wonder if he was going to try to kiss me again?

Should make a move now?

I found myself pulling Calum closer to me, my hands on his shoulders. He slithered his hands on my waist, he held me tight, as if to make sure I wont escape this time. He leaned in, I tilted my head up. Nothing to stop us now.

And finally, our lips collided together.
