13. Chapter Thirteen
Sunlight poured into the room through the window the next morning, leaving golden rays strewn across the floor. Angelica and James spent the entire night together, Angelica being held in James arms as they lounged together on the bed. Angelica had felt exhausted, and closed her eyes to rest. Nothing changed, she remained awake and never fell asleep, but it was relaxing to her nonetheless.
There was a harsh knock on the door, causing Angelica's eyes to flutter open. "Yeah?" James asked flatly. "Breakfast time! We're going hunting. Bring the newbie." Nicholas replied on the other side of the door, and his footsteps were heard as he walked off. James unwrapped his arms from around Angelica and sat up. Angelica slowly roused and stretched. James stood up from the bed and extended a helpful hand out to Angelica. She gladly grasped his hand and allowed him to assist her up from the bed. Angelica fixed her hair before following James out of the bedroom.
James led Angelica outside, where a decent amount of a group stood with Nicholas, all obviously waiting on James and Angelica. "Ready?" Nicholas asked impatiently. James nodded, "Ready, sir." "Alright," Nicholas started, "I'll have to announce something a few of you may not be happy about....No humans." Most of the group groaned disappointingly. "Why not?! We need it!" argued a blonde female. "You don't need human blood!" Nicholas snapped back, "there's plenty of other things that have blood that you can drink from. Human authorities are taking notice that humans are dying more and more recently. They're getting suspicious..." "Then let them!" argued a male, "then we can have ourselves a feast when they come and try to do something about it!" "Don't be stupid," Nicholas responded, "we're trying to keep ourselves hidden. How many times do I have to tell you that?! If we expose ourselves, we can all die!" "Then what are we supposed to hunt?!" questioned the blonde female. "Animals." Nicholas replied immediately.
