11. Chapter Eleven
After James finished discussing the rules to Angelica, she asked where her purse was. James stood up and scanned the room, then saw her purse on the floor beside the bed. He picked it up and handed it to her. Angelica took her purse, opened it, and took her phone out. She turned it on and checked her notifications. She had over twenty missed calls from Daniel, and various worried text messages from him too. She frowned and looked at her phone sadly. "What's wrong?" James asked. "My brother..." Angelica sighed, "He's wondering where I am and if I'm okay..." "You can't tell him." James responded quickly. "I know." Angelica answered sadly. "What am I supposed to do?" she asked. James was silent for a moment as he pondered over this question. "...Nothing." He answered, "You do nothing. Let them believe that you've gone missing or that you ran away. And when the time is right...there's a chance you might be able to tell them." Angelica nodded understandingly. Because of everything James had spent the time to explain to her, Angelica knew what chaos would erupt if she were to tell the truth to her family.
Angelica sighed and put her phone away. "Does this mean I no longer have contact with my friends and family from now on?" she asked. James responded, "For the most part, yes, that is the case. You'll have to be with me and the rest of the clan." "I'm okay with that." Angelica stated. James narrowed his eyebrows in confusion, very puzzled by Angelica's statement. "You're okay with that?" he questioned. Angelica nodded, "I'm okay with not having contact anymore with my friends. They're...not the best." She laughed softly and scoffed, "I'm not even sure why I continued to hang out with them." James nodded, though not completely understanding why Angelica wasn't going to miss conversing with her friends.
There was a knock on the door. "Come in." James said. The door opened, and Nicholas poked his head in. "Get some rest...we have a lot of events for tomorrow." he announced. "Yes, sir." James said with a nod. Nicholas left the room, closing the door behind him. James turned and looked at Angelica, sighing before beginning to speak, "Well...you heard him. Let's get our rest now." Angelica nodded. "You take the bed, I'll take the floor." James said, walking to his closet. "Why?" Angelica asked. James turned slightly and looked at her, "So no one gets uncomfortable..." then turned back around and grabbed a sleeping bag and pillow from his closet. Something tells me he's done this before.. Angelica thought. She climbed up the bed and rested under the comforter, lying her head down on a plush pillow.
