Her back arched and her bones cracked. Her eyes went black. A piercing, deafening shriek lurched out of her throat. The windows shook. Her teeth became razor-sharp. Her body went limp. The others huddled closer to examine the new creature they had manufactured. A smile creeped onto her face. Her eyes flashed open. A low growl rose in her throat and slowly escaped. Her eyes were hungry for blood. On all faces were charmed grins. They laughed and whooped at the new member of the crowd. The new, most strong, most powerful member of Monstrous.

5. The Truth

As Alice shakily stood up, she gazed up at Claudius who examined her body. Nothing was different. Her skin pigment was the same along with her face and hair. When her eyes met his, he took a step back. Her eyes were glowing gold and a cat eye shape. She smiled and flashed all of her sharp teeth at him. He looked at her arms and legs that were filled out with muscle.

“What is this?” He gestured to her. “You lied to me.” He shook his head and took a couple more steps back.

“No, Claudius. I would never do that.” Her voice chimed. It was a little deeper than before. Now, more seductive. “I just didn’t tell you what I also had in my blood. You know how I am a shapeshifter?” He nodded. She took steps back and spread her arms out. Her back popped forward, her arms turned away, her legs cracked. She fell into a crawling position. A snout grew onto her face and fur grew over her body. Slowly, she grew into an enormous dog. Beautiful really. White with crystal blue eyes. Her eyes.

Now you see me. You see what I was born as. You now see what you turned my mother into. Her blood was sweat but had a musty taste to it. You could smell it but you ignored it because you loved her. Love overcomes everything. I don’t know where she is. I have been looking for her for eight years. I am eighteen now, but you didn’t know. You ruined me! Alice sent him the message through her mind and barked at him. Her lips curled up, revealing her baring teeth.

His hands rose up and he tried to step back but she leaped forward. The other vampires tired getting to him. Tired sending him messages but her force feild was around his mind. Her snout was almost touching his nose. She huffed.

You will help me find her. You and your little army. Compared to Aparatus’, this is small. He has spread them around the world in search of me, my sister, and my mother. I will find them and we will go, leaving you behind. I will clear you mind to forget us. You understand? She snapped. She barked at him when he didn’t answer.

“Leave him alone!” Belle screamed. She had been hurt this whole time as she watched her love be seduced my Alice. She jumped onto the back of the beast and bit down into her shoulder. Alice yelped and turned her head, grabbing the foot of Belle. She dragged her off and slung her onto the ground. Her foot was still in her mouth but Belle was far away. She screamed in pain as Alice barked in laughter. She jumped on her hind legs and instantly formed back into her human self.

“Now that I am a hybrid, I can do things easier. No, I am not evil. I am good. You.” She pointed around. “You are all being tricked. Along with your pathetic leader, Claudius.” She gestured to Claudius who was helping Belle up. “Asparatus is after me and anyone who comes in my path. I tried for three years to find a vampire so I could become unbreakable. Immortal. The most powerful thing on earth. Not to use against you but to help me find my mother who I never met except once.” Alice choked out. A tear slipped from her eye.

“The last time I saw my mother, I was sick. Dying. Asparatus had put me up as a trap for her. Draining my blood. His witch had not to yet turn me into this.” Alice pointed at herself, a couple more tears rolled down her cheek. “She told me that I would be okay. She was going to leave. She loved me. She said that she was headed west. That I could come find her. She was being chased by a man named Claudius that she was dearly afraid of.” She turned towards Claudius and gave him a look that broke him.

“She told me that he was my father.” Tears rushed out of her eyes as she collapsed on her knees. Pulling them up to her face, she let out a whimper. “I was so broke. My own father scared my mother. Scared me.”

“I’m not your father.” Claudius said. In a millisecond, Alice was up and had him pinned to the wall with her sharp nails.

“She would never lie to me! She is truthful while you are a pathetic piece of shit!” She yelled. “I could kill you so easily right now.”  She looked back at Belle was wrapping a piece of cloth around where her foot was broke off. No blood came out. It looked like broken glass but she knew that hurt like hell. “But, I need you.” She looked back into his eyes. “Either you tell me the truth and agree to help me find her, or you die along with all of the others. Your choice.” She glared into his eyes. She decided not to use her powers to make him do what she wanted him to do. It was up to him.

He grabbed her hand and took it from his neck.

“Your mother and I, we loved each other very much. We made love once. About ten month before you were born. When I announce to a dear friend of mine that I was going to be a father, he told me something. A secret that he had kept from me.” Claudius choked down a tear.

“What was it?” Alice asked. As he looked into her eyes, he saw a little girl. She was scared. Crammed into a closet hiding from the world. She could have whatever she wanted. She had the power for it, but she did’t want to use it for the bad or to get what she wanted. She wanted it for good. To help her find her mother. The little girl looked up at him. Tears escaped her eyes.

“My brother.” He said. Confusion crossed her face. “How are you confused if you can read my mind?” He asked.

“The only thing I like about this, is that I can tuned the switch. Switch of powers and emotion. I can turn it on and off. My humanity is on but my powers are off. I trust you right now to tell me what happened.” He nodded.

“My brother had gotten to your mother the night after we made love for the first time. He persuaded her that he was better. That he could provide. He had a witch make up a potion. A love potion. He poured it into tea and gave it to her. They made love that night as well. The witch made her forget it was him and also made her believe I was a horrible person. I never meant to hurt her or you. I didn’t know that you had a sister. I just found that out. I promise, I want the best for you and her.” Alice looked at herself in his eyes.

“Then why would you turn her?”

“I wanted her to be with me forever. I wanted to switch back her memory. I wanted you to be with my and her. I was going to adopt you. I also believed that you could become a very important person one day. More important than you were then. I didn’t want this mess to stir up.” Claudius said, grasping Alice’s arms. “Please, forgive me.” He said. She shook her head.

“I can’t. I just have to find my mother. And only then, I might could take it into consideration.” Alice turned around and walked a little bit. She looked over her shoulder. “Do you happen to have a place I could sleep. I am dearly tired.” Claudius waved at Felix. Felix was a charming man. Very muscled. Blonde hair. Tan. Blue eyes. Obviously, Alice never noticed him because as soon as she saw him, her eyes filled with lust. She straightened up, lifted her chest, held her shoulders back. Looked very much like a model, just better. She smiled and let him lead her.

Goodnight Claudius. Thank you.
