He's The Only One

Ginny falls for Harry when she's just 10 years old, but how does this develop throughout Hogwarts, and beyond?

*I'm aware that Harry and Ron never returned to Hogwarts after the battle, but for the sake of this story i have twisted some areas of the story to make better reading and a better story line*

28. The Proposal

I walked into the great hall, spotted Hermione and gave her a hug before sitting down. I then asked if she or Ron had seen Harry, they both denied but they had a guilty look in their faces, I knew they had and he was here somewhere... Finally I could relax! (I think)

Rachel came and sat down next to me, looking very merry, I introduced her to both Ron and Hermione, she was delighted to meet them both, even more so to be on speaking terms with Head Girl! Food soon piled on our plates and we got engaged in conversation about the holidays and what have you. Finally, dinner was over and McGonagall said a couple of announcements before we headed for the common room. I didn't want to face anyone so I went through Harry's office and into our room. Much to my surprise. Harry was sat at his desk, he knew I'd go through his office and was waiting for me, looking rather nervous. He was fingering something small in his pocket, I raised an eyebrow at him before lecturing him to never leave me like that, I then jumped on him, and before he could retaliate with some smart and witty response, I kissed him. Half an hour later, and mentally adding a third tick to his office on my list, we both left, not into our room, but back into the corridors of the castle before entering through the portrait hole to the common room. Hermione and Ron both looked apprehensive, before Hermione ran up to Harry and asked if she could speak to him. I shrugged and went to find Rachel, so I could finally introduce her to her Hero. I could see Hermione burst out laughing in the corner, and Harry looking rather smug but embarrassed. I guess he had just broken the news as to what took us so long to come back into the common room.

We all sat around our favourite chairs in front of the fire, Harry was losing drastically to Ron in a game if Wizards Chess, whilst Hermione and I were having a catch up on Hogwarts gossip. It turns out Dean has found another girl to chase after, for his sake I hope he's more successful this time. Hermione soon got up and said she had to report to McGonagall for head girl duties, as she left she gave Harry a Hermione look, I knew something was up that I didn't know about, but decided to leave it for now and tease it out of Harry later. Ron went to bed to leave me and Harry alone with a few younger students in the common room. Rachel was still grinning having met Harry, it was nice to think I had made that girls year.

Finally we headed up to our room, only for me to be a little shocked when I opened the door to find our room had transformed into a small candle lit room, with a single table in the centre with two places laid. I giggled and Harry pulled out a chit and gestured for me to sit down. So I did, he sat down opposite me. He looked me in the eye, his green eyes were sparkling, just like Dumbledore's used to. And with that he answered my unvoiced question "I just wanted to surprise you" a grin swept across my face and he pulled me in and kissed me. He then clicked his fingers and fine dining type food appeared in my plate, along with glasses of wine, I smiled at him, he did have a way of cheering me up, it was surprising how romantic Harry could be. Once we'd finished Harry got up and stood in front of me, I just looked at him, he looked slightly nervous, why I had no idea. Until he knelt down on one knee. I think I heard it right, "Miss Ginevra Molly Weasley, will you marry me?" I sat grinning to myself, questioning if I heard what he said right. He then pulled a small box out of his pocket and opened it. A small gold ring with unicorn hair entwined around it, and a single ruby in the centre lay there. I looked him in the eye, grinning from ear to ear. The suspense for him must have been massive, and finally, I stood up and jumped on him. Realising I still hadn't given him a reply, I whispered in his ear 'of course, I love you'. I don't think anyone could wipe the smile from either of our faces.

Once Harry had finally let me go, I questioned, still smiling as to how we were going to get our room back. Harry pointed at the door to his office, not believing him, but accepting his suggestion, I opened the door and stepped into his office, he followed. We then shut the door, opened it again and to my amazement, our room was back. Harry Potter really was something special.
