As we step on campus holding hands I can feel all eyes on me. "Who is she?!" I hear girls asking each other. I feel awkward enough because I'm wearing all of his clothes, and this is no help. He kisses me and tells me not to worry because everything will be fine. But I feel nervous. It is only my second day here, and I am already the talk of the school. In all my classes, girls are raging to me about how lucky I am, or how Harry is just using me. I don't respond to any of them though because I'm not a fan of attention and I don't care about what they have to say.
In my third hour literature class, a mysterious girl approaches me. "You better back off my man!" She spits in my face. I wipe my face and look blankly into her eyes. "HELLOOOOOOO? English? Do you speak it?" She continues to yell at me, but I don't listen. She slams her fist on my desk and walks away. Liam, who sits next to me in this class, tells me she's the queen of the school. Her name is Taylor Hall. I told him I don't care who she is because she has no business in my business. I can feel her eyes piercing the back of my head.
"Can you stop?" I grit through my teeth. Liam puts his hand on my shoulder to signal he will back me up if necessary. She raises her nose at me, and the bells rings so Liam and I leave. "What a bitch.." I mutter.
"Calm down, Erica," Liam reassures me, "She's got nothing on you, and I swear Harry has got his eyes on you and only you." My heart stops a little at that sentence, but it also calms me.
I wonder how her day is going. Hopefully she's okay. She looked so panicked earlier. I could feel the tension in her bones as we walked on campus together. Oh Erica, why must you be so insecure? Does she not notice how much prettier she is than all the other girls here? I'm so lucky to have got to her before any other guys.
"Who's the new slut of the week you've got?" A familiar voice shoots down my neck. It's Danny Greenfield, local football player, community douchebag.
"Pardon me, but she's not a slut and I won't allow you to speak that way about her." I dismiss him and begin to search for her. It's been too long, but it's only been a few hours. I'm in love.
"You better watch your girl, Harry, cause I'm gonna swipe her up, and you're not gonna stop me."
I shrug off his words as if they mean nothing, but they feel like knives to my chest. I know Erica isn't like that. But it hurts to hear.
"Erica, doll, wait up!!" I shout to her from a distance. She's walking so fast away from me, what's wrong! As I walk up to her I see her tear stained cheeks. "Are you alright my love?" I question. Wiping her tears.
"I'm fine, Harry." She's lying to me. This can't be good.
"You're not fine, sweetie. You're crying." I hug her tight to make her feel safe. "Let me take you home and make you feel alright" She hugs me tighter.
"Harry, there was so many rumors today about us. And this girl Taylor came up to me and spat in my face. And I just can't handle it." She cries into my chest.
"Erica. Don't listen to them. You're a part of our group now, and you don't need to put up with their crap. People said horrible things to me today too. It will blow over soon. You're mine, and I'm yours."
