IT'S CALLED '11:59'
THANKS SO MUCH FOR READING THIS STORY, AND THANKYOU SO MUCH IF YOU READ 11:59.
“It’s my mum’s death anniversary tomorrow,” I suddenly announced at lunch, causing a silence to fall upon the group.
“Oh.” Ash said, as the others cast their eyes down.
“Yeah. And I was wondering if you guys would like to visit her with me? Because no one’s visited Mum for years now. The most recent person was Luke, and that was years ago. If you don’t want to come then its fine, I’ll just go myself.”
“Of course we’ll come,” Ash said quickly, as Mike and Cal nodded along.
“I’m definitely coming,” Luke said, a guilty look on his face.
“Don’t feel bad Luke,” I said, patting his arm comfortingly.
“Yeah don’t Luke,” someone behind me said, causing my eyes to roll.
I didn’t even have to turn around to know it was Abby.
“Why would you feel bad for her anyway? She WAS the one who killed her mother,” she said, laughing slightly.
“Just do us a favour and go away would ya?” Luke said tiredly, causing Abby to huff.
“Fine. Just wanted to say that,” she said, spinning on her heels and walking away.
“What a bitch,” Mike mumbled, as Abby stalked away. We all nodded, agreeing with him.
“So are we gonna skip school tomorrow?” Ash asked hopefully, causing Cal, Luke and Mike to all perk up.
“Sure, if you want,” I said, shrugging, causing all of them to grin widely.
“Wait, why are we all so happy? This is her mother’s death anniversary,” Cal said suddenly, causing all their eyes to widen, instantly dropping their smiles.
I waved my hand. “Don’t worry. I know you’re happy because you get to skip school, not because my mum died,” I said, easing their worries.
Suddenly, the bell rung, meaning it was time to go to class. We all sighed, slowly dragging ourselves to class.
We all piled into Ash’s car after school, heading to Cal’s house. We screamed along with the radio for the whole car ride, making everyone in the cars surrounding us to roll their windows up and shoot us glares.
We finally arrived, all of us running to the house. We all burst through the door, only to be greeted by Cal’s mother.
“Oh hello guys,” she greeted. “I didn’t know Cal was inviting people over, I’m sorry, I should’ve tidied the house up,” she said, apologising.
“It’s ok, my house is way worse than this anyway,” I said, causing her eyes to light up.
“Ooh, Natasha. I didn’t notice you were also here. Cal never invites girls here by choice, so you’re pretty special,” she said, winking at me. “So, are you single? Do you like Cal?” she whispered in my ear, grinning.
“Yep, k, bye mum,” Cal said, running upstairs, causing his mum to laugh.
“You guys should go after him, before I embarrass him anymore,” she said, shooing us upstairs. We all ran upstairs after Cal, shouting our goodbye’s to Cal’s mum.
We all burst into Cal’s room, only to find him lying face down on his bed.
“My mum is so embarrassing,” he said, his voice being muffled by his pillow.
“Don’t worry Cal. all mums have embarrassed their child like that before,” Ash said, chuckling.
“Yeah. Once my mum basically interviewed a girl who I invited over to my house. She was asking all these questions like “What do you look for in a guy?” or “What do you like about Mike?” or “Would you date him if you could?” when I was standing right there. Eventually, she told my mum that she was lesbian. That was the most awkward situation I’ve ever been in,” Mike said, groaning.
“Mum was continuously looking for other girls for me to date. She really disliked Abby,” Luke said chewing his lip. “Now I see why. She was so happy when I told her I broke up with Abby.”
“My mum bugged me for weeks to get me to tell her who my first kiss was,” Cal said, sighing. “Those were horrible weeks.”
“I’ve never had my first kiss,” I said, shrugging.
“Really?” Cal asked, surprised.
“It’s kinda hard to find someone to kiss when you never leave your room other than to go to school. And everyone hates me at school,” I said, causing Calum to look down at his lap.
“Oh...” Cal said, as an uncomfortable silence came over us.
“But that doesn’t matter now does it?” I asked, clapping my hands together. “I’ve got you guys now,” I said, grinning.
“Are you saying you want one of us to be your first kiss?” Mike asked jokingly.
“oh YES Michael. I want YOU to be my first kiss. Oh kiss me handsome one,” I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes.
The doorbell rung, causing me to stand up.
“I’m going. See yah dorks,” I said, making my way to the front door.
I flung the door open, only to be greeted by the pizza man.
“Uhh… Hello?” I asked, confused.
“Hello. Here is your pizza,” he said, pushing the box into my hands.
“Are you sure you got the right address,” I asked slowly, causing him to nod.
“It’s already been paid,” he called as he walked off.
I stood there watching him drive away, confused.
“Guys,” I called, causing them to all to come scrambling down.
“Did any of you guys order a pizza?” I asked, shaking the box of pizza. All of them looked equally as confused.
“Let me ask my mum and sister,” Cal said, walking off.
He soon came back, looking even more confused.
“None of them did,” he said, a bewildered look on his face.
“The pizza man said it had already been paid,” I said slowly.
“So someone bought the pizza for us,” Mike exclaimed, excitedly running to the box.
“Well hurry up,” he said impatiently. “Open the damn box already.”
He took the box out of my hands and placed it on the table, excited.
“I love whoever bought this pizza for us,” he said happily, enthusiastically flinging the box lid open.
He straight away grabbed two slices, walking to the couch to sit down.
I rolled my eyes at him, walking towards the box to get myself a slice.
“Uh... There’s a note in here,” Ash said, taking a piece of paper out of the box.
“What?” Luke asked, confused.
“Read it,” Cal said, as Ash opened the note.
His eyes widened as he read it. Cal took it from his hands, and he too widened his eyes at the note.
“Lemme see,” Luke said, snatching the note.
His eyes scanned the note, as his shoulders slumped down.
“I’m throwing this away,” he mumbled, going to the bin.
“No let me read it,” I said, chasing after him,
“Yeah, I also wanna read it,” Mike said, chasing after Luke.
He shook his head. “I think it’s best if you don’t read it,” he mumbled.
“Let me read it,” Mike said impatiently, as Luke handed the note to him.
“WHAT. Why does HE get to read it and I don’t,” I said angrily, as guilt washed over Luke’s face.
“It’s for your own good,” he said quietly.
“Yeah, it is,” Mike mumbled, scrunching the note up.
“WHAT,” I said, stomping my foot. “What kind of friends are you, hiding this from me like this.”
“Were not hiding this from you, we just think it’s best if you didn’t read it,” Cal said, comfortingly patting my shoulder.
“Don’t touch me,” I said angrily, shrugging his hand off my shoulder.
“I’m going,” I said angrily, picking my bag up.
“No wait,” Luke called, causing me to spin on my heels.
“What,” I spat, causing him to back up.
“Fine. Read it if you want,” Michael said, sadly handing the note to me.
“Finally,” I huffed, opening the note.
I’m glad your mum died. Hopefully you do too soon. If you don’t, then I’ll make sure to fuck your life up even more so you kill yourself, just how you killed your mother.
P.s: Luke’s mine bitch
I stared at the note, not knowing how to feel or what to say.
“Yeah,” Cal said sadly, taking the note away from me.
“That’s obviously from Abby,” Mike said, rolling his eyes.
“Fuck my life up even more,” I said quietly. “That means she’s going to take you guys away from me,” I said, my shoulders slumping. “I don’t know what I’d do without you guys,” I said, tears starting to form in my eyes.
“No she’s not,” Luke said, hugging me. “There’s no way she’ll be able to take us away from you. She did it once, which I regret, but I promise, I’ll never leave you again.”
“Promise?” I asked weakly, causing him to faintly smile back at me.
