I let myself into Ed's house that night and find him on the sofa, reading. I sit beside him and kiss his cheek, leaning my head against his. He chuckles, putting his book down.
"Hey." he says happily, placing an arm around me.
I grin, spinning myself around onto his lap. He chuckles, linking his hands at the small of my back.
"I just wanted to thank you again for that internship." I smile at him, kissing him again. He smiles against my lips, kissing me back.
"You're welcome." he says. "What are you doing over Christmas then?"
I shrug. "I guess I'm going to my family's. We'll probably all go to my grandma's house or something."
"Me too." he mumbles, adjusting me so I'm sitting down properly, both of his arms around me. I wish we could just stay like this forever, never having to leave or do things or sneak around. He sighs. "Christmas is going to suck a little bit this year."
"Yeah." I say. "Just a little bit though. It's still Christmas and Christmas is... you know, it's Christmas. Not even you're special enough to ruin it."
He laughs. "Thank you for that one, Dais. I won't miss you either, for the record."
"Great." I laugh too, sliding off of his lap and lying down on the sofa, pulling the blanket off of his lap and onto me. He chuckles, grabbing the end of it so he has some too. I'm suddenly so sleepy and tired. I'm happy right here, exactly where I am and who I'm with.
"Do you want a cup of tea?" he asks.
"No thanks." I yawn, shutting my eyes. "I am so tired. I'm going to sleep forever, right here and now. Goodnight, I'll see you in a week when I wake up."
"Do you want to go to bed?" he asks.
I shake my head.
"Because you've got your legs over me and I'm trapped and I want to go to bed at some point."
"That's a shame." I mumble, half asleep already.
He moves my legs and gets up. "I'll wake you up in an hour to go to bed."
"I'm okay here." I murmur.
He chuckles. "Alright, sleepyhead. I'll wake you up in the morning."
