Shit, stumbling in at 3:15am with Molly passed out in my arms is probably not the best way to show Dad and Louise that I can look after her. Fucks sake...
I looked down at her, her chest rising and falling evenly and her lips slightly parted, I couldn't help but laugh. First time she's ever had a proper drink and she ends up in this absolute state!
I walk onto the decking and across to the porch, I turn to face the sky, a soft orange glow formed on the horizon. Fantastic, it's going light already. I reached the front door and frowned at my situation, sleeping girl lay in my arms, no hands to get my keys out... Shit! Out of the corner of my eye, I could see the hammock, I walked over slowly and place Molly down, pulling my hands out from beneath her as slowly and gently as I possibly could. I bit my lip, checking she was still sound asleep. Affirmative! I crept towards the door.
The key turned in the lock as I pushed the creaking door open as quietly as humanly possible. I swiftly stepped across the decking, picked Molly up again and tip-toed inside. It was dark, my eyes scanned the area and tried to find the stairs. I made them out in the darkness and began to make my way across the room towards them. I actually thought we might've got away with this, that was until I heard the flick of a switch and light flooded into the room.
"What time do you call this?" Dad asked, a stern look plastered across his face and arms folded across his chest.
"Erm, approximately 3.20 in the morning?" I asked, glancing at an invisible watch on my wrist, Molly still asleep in my arms.
"What have you done to her?!" Louise exclaimed, gasping at Molly.
"Nothing, she's just had too much to drink, and I take full responsibility, I'm so sorry..." I sighed, bowing my head and looking down at her.
"Sorry doesn't cut it young man" Dad scowled, "you better go and take her to bed, I want you to take your duvet and sleep on the floor in Molly's room incase she's ill in the night..." Dad continued.
"But..." I began.
"We'll have none of that Lucas, you're getting off lightly considering the gravity of what you've done..." Dad frowned.
"I've said I'm sorry..." I began.
"You know the beach is dangerous at night, and you've got her pissed out of her brains... Are you mad?!" Dad bellowed.
"I never get treated like this at mums, maybe I should go back there?" I yelled, my heart racing. Hurt spread across Dad's face, he wouldn't look at me.
"Maybe you should..." Dad shrugged.
"Now... You don't mean that" Louise begun.
"Oh I do, he put not only himself, but your daughter in danger tonight Louise.." Dad continued, his face softening a bit.
"I'm going to take her to bed okay?" I sighed, looking down at Molly.
"Thank you Luke", Louise whispered and gave the smallest of smiles. I gave a slight smile back and headed to the stairs. I walked past my room and sighed before nudging the door open with my foot. I stepped inside and lay Molly down gently on the top of the covers before stepping out, collecting my duvet and pillow and making my way across the landing. I got back into the room and was surprised to see Molly awake and squinting around the room.
"Luke?" She asked, stretching.
"'Ello!" I laughed in my best English accent.
"Hi! Where am I?" She frowned, oh god.
"Molly, you're in your room and your bed!" I didn't want to laugh, but I'm sure she could tell my shoulders were going.
"So why are you here?" She asked, waving an arm round roughly in my direction.
"Because..." I sighed, taking hold of her waving hand, "I got you very very drunk, and now I'm very very sorry, so I've come to look after you" I smiled, kneeling down next to her, she rolled onto her side and all of her hair fell over her face. She began to choke and splutter dramatically on her hair so I began to move it away laughing.
"No, no, no, you've got to be wrong, y'see, I don't drink..." Molly frowned, raking her fingers through her hair and wriggling about on the bed.
"Wassup with you, ants in your pants?" I chuckled.
"I don't know, I don't think so?" She gasped, panic spreading over her face. I was laughing hard now.
"You don't sound too sure, would you like me to check?" I smirked wickedly.
"Would you mind?" She asked, still looking horrified.
"Oh dearrr..." I muttered under my breath, shaking my head.
"What?" Molly asked, clearly catching onto the head shaking.
"Just you, you're a state..." I sniggered.
"I'm not, stop being nasty, just shhhhh, and go to sleep now..." She sighed, placing her index finger to my lips and slamming her head to what I think was supposed to be the pillow, but ended up being the head board.
"Ooh, are you okay?!" I gasped, jumping up.
"Ow..." She groaned.
"Let's see..." I asked, bending down over her.
"Come on then?" She asked, patting the side of the bed and shuffling over to make room.
"Eugh , fine!" I sighed, sitting down on the bed.
"My head" she gasped.
"Well turn and face that way? And I'll have a look at it for you?" I said, pointing towards the window, she winced as she did so...
I did as I was told and felt Luke's hand touch my head, I fought with all my strength not to shiver as my heart began to race. He gently pulled my hair out of the way as his fingers traced across my hair line and down my neck.
"Brrr...." I shivered.
"What's up, are you cold?" Luke asked, still searching for any sign of damage to my pounding head.
"A little" I shrugged.
"Here..." Luke whispered, pulling the covers up tight around me.
"Thank you!" I whispered, a smile creeping onto my lips.
"Well I can't feel anything on your head... Jesus Molly, you're proper shivering!" Luke gasped, I felt the bed rise as he got off.
"I'm not cold though, I'm really not, I'm getting pretty hot in fact..." I frowned.
"But you're proper shaking?" Luke stated, panic in his voice.
"Can you lie down with me Luke, I don't like it..." I cringed, panicking.
"Of course!" Luke said, I could hear the smile in his voice.
"Thanks!" I smiled.
"Budge up then!" He laughed, pushing me across my double bed onto one half so he could fit in.
"Sorry!" I laughed, sliding across the bed.
"Can I?" Luke asked, fiddling with the corner of the duvet. It didn't really want him coming under the covers with me if I'm honest. "It might make you feel better?" Luke smiled, I don't know how but I was too tired to argue against it. He flicked back the covers and climbed in next to me.
"Mmmmm" I sighed as I shivered.
"Shit Molly, are you okay?" Luke asked, placing his hand on my shoulder and feeling the severity of my shaking.
"You tell me?" I sighed sarcastically.
"Babe come here?" Luke sighed, pulling me into his arms, I wanted to object but anyone willing to comfort me now was a bonus, I snuggled into his strong arms and soon felt myself drifting off to sleep...
"It's alright, you'll be fine in the morning, I'll look after you..." Luke whispered into my hair as I fell out of consciousness, I smiled.
I woke up the next morning to the sound of birds and stretched, ow my head, I looked, Luke was asleep to my right. I sighed and tossed over, it's so weird that we shared a bed, I mean, verging on creepy.
"Molly? Can I come in?" Mum asked, knocking on the door, Luke's eyes shot open and he slid beneath the covers.
"Yeah, what?" I called.
"Are you okay?" Mum asked, walking over.
"Yeah yeah, I'm fine?" I gulped, seeing the duvet rise and fall as Luke drew in short, sharp breaths from beneath the covers, I hope she doesn't notice.
"I have a surprise for you!" Mum smiled.
"You do? And mum, I'm so so sorry about last night, I..." I began, but she cut me off.
"Hey don't worry about it" mum began, shaking her head as if to say it had all been forgotten about. She reached into her pocket and pulled out an envelope. "I know you're worried about making new friends here and keeping the ones you have at home!" Mum smiled as I tore my finger along the fold.
I gasped as a booking confirmation fell out into my hands. Three tickets had been booked for 2 weeks time with the names; Amber Wilson, Jay McGuinness and Nathan Sykes printed on them.
"Oh my god! They're coming here? In two weeks? For real?" I grinned.
"Uh-huh, anyway I'll leave you to get up! And put this pile of clothes away!" Mum asked, drumming the top of Luke and walking to the door.
"Urghhhh" gasped Luke, his head peeping out of the duvet.
"Oh and Molly?" Mum called, bouncing into the room again, myself and Luke froze in horror. Mums face had gone from a sweet smile, to shock, to a raging bull in a matter of seconds.
"JOHN, GET UP HERE...NOW!" Mum yelled, not taking her eyes off us.
"Coming... What is it?" John asked, sprinting up the stairs, only to be met by the same site as mum. The disgust on his face made me cringe into my duvet.
"Nothing happened, I promise..." I began desperately.
"Lucas, a word, NOW!" John snapped. Luke flicked off the covers and scurried out after his dad timidly. I felt mum sit down on the bed. Shit, I'm in trouble...
