10. Diary Entry 9
I don't know how to explain it. Everyone is afraid, even the strong men keeping us here worry about something. It was only about the bidding, but they worried. What would they do with us? They still continued to herd us on stage as the auction began before a few rich entrepreneurs. The money would climb, then drop, and repeat as the girls walked on. I was so nervous when I went up that all I could manage to do was stare out at the empty chairs before me. Then, in a flash, one bid was called out-$50,000. I had never been more afraid in my life than when I heard that number. Whoever this was, he had enough money to swipe out the competition. I completely froze, leaving the men to drag me out to the car. The last thing I remember was sitting down in shock, and falling asleep crying with a strange man's arms gently cradled around me in an embrace.
