I didn't know what to expect today. I can tell there will be tension in the air... Now that Jess knows the whole story.
I just hope she manages to stay silent about everything. Her mouth is pretty unstoppable but when she puts her mind to it she does have some control.
"So what's everyone's plans for the weekend?" I tried to lighten up the mood because everyone looked down. Today just wasn't a good day.
"I think I'm going to that party on Friday night." Alexia mentioned as she chewed on her mars bar, "does anyone else want to tag along?"
A party sounded fun. Really fun actually. However, Aaron would never let me go. Not unless he comes with me and alcohol+Aaron= a bad idea; a very bad idea. Imaging what he's like sober then times it by a hundreds then you'd be pretty close to the outcome.
"I think we could all use some time to let our hair down. The past few weeks have been full of tests and assessments, I could use a drink." Jess said as Connor and El nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, Imma whip my bobble out and prance around, whipping my golden locks back and forth." Connor attempted to flick his SHORT hair but failed miserably.
"Connor, shut the f*ck up." I scrunched my nose up as I laughed.
He rolled his eyes playfully, "Well I'm in." he stated.
"Me too." Alexia nodded.
"Me three." El agreed.
"Count me in!" Jess was the last to confirm but I think she was looking forward to it the most.
Everyone turned to look at me.
"Who's party is it?" Maybe if it wasn't one of the popular guys' I could go. Aaron might not find out.
"Dylan's." Alexia answered.
Well there goes my genius plan. Dylan is Aaron's best friend so even If I try to go in secret the probability he would be there is almost inevitable.
"Won't Aaron be there? Go with him." I saw Jess tense up at the mention of his name.
"Actually I don't think I'm going to go... You can come stay round mind again?" Jess' quick change of attitude caused a few curious glances.
"I actually want to go." the words were out of my mouth before I could stop them. It wasn't a lie, I did want to go, I was just scared of Aaron's reaction.
"Are you sure?" Jess asked.
"Positive. I don't know why I'm worried. I'll have you guys there to protect me if I get scared of all the hormonal teenagers." I joked on a little but deep down I was terrified.
"Don't forget Arron." Lexia piped up after finishing her lunch. There was silence.
I could never forget him.
"We don't normally do this, but due to the small amount if time we have until end of semester tests we're going to mix the top and bottom math classes. To avoid complaints me and the other teachers have decided to let you pick who you work with-" Mrs.Browning was cut off by whoop of my fellow class mates.
"- by picking names out of a hat." She smirked slightly to herself. That was evil.
The whoops were replaced by groans.
"Suck it up students. You're seniors now, stop acting like middle schoolers." She rolled her eyes before she started coming round with the hat.
Ironically, this whole hat business seemed a lot more middle schooler style.
By the time she got to me, both El and Jess had been read out. I hoped I was with Jess but clearly that wasn't going to happen... With a sigh I shoved my hand in the hat before pulling out a piece of paper.
As I opened it I rolled my eyes with a cheeky smile on my face:
As much as I found that quite coincidentally hilarious I couldn't help but worry about what Aaron would say. No one would find out about me studying at his tonight but when we're paired up in school, that's a different story.
I heard Jess before anyone entered the room. Her voice was so loud it's actually quite funny.
They stormed into our class like a stampede but Mrs.Browning rapidly stopped them. She gestured for the group to standards the front.
"I'm going to go around the classroom so you can read out your study buddy. You'll be working with them for the next few weeks." She nodded towards Cole who was sat at the front.
Jess looked at me hopefully but I shook my head in sorrow. Not being paired together sucks but at least I'm with Connor.
Mrs nodded towards me, "Connor Eidle."
I looked at him just in time to catch the small smirking that flickered across his lips.
I watched as he walked towards me,"Fate seems to enjoy intertwining our paths young one." His jokes amused me.
"Hmm I'm sure it does." I emitted a small laugh.
"Are you still going to come round mine later still or is this all of me you can handle for one day?" he wiggled his eyebrows as he kept his voice down. People were still being paired together.
"Why don't you deflate your ego and sit your ass down?" I pushed the chair near me towards him.
"Whatever you say Ms.Superiority." He plonked himself down on the chair.
"So is there anything I need to know about your house before I visit?" I have a way with retarded questions but this is by far the worst one I've asked in a while.
"Erm yeah. There's an axe murderer who lives in the walls and whenever a stranger visits he chops them up into little pieces and paints the wall with their blood." His voice was quite high and slightly feminine.
"Ha ha, hilarious." I folded my arms, "But seriously. Like, what are your parents called? Do you have any siblings?"
"My dad is called Simon and we have a golden retriever called Sandy. And before you laugh at his name, I was six. Don't judge." He grinned.
I held my hands up in surrender, "I'm not saying anything. What about your mom?"
"My mum passed away from cancer when I was ten."
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry to hear that Connor." My voice was sympathetic.
"It was extremely hard at first, obviously. I understand a lot more now though, if she was still here she wouldn't be living. She would just be existing. She had a sever diagnosis and she was constantly on bed rest in hospital. She's in a better place now."
"I know what you mean. The pain of losing someone you love is the worst thing anyone ever has to experience." My mind wandered back to my past life. When everything was simple.
"Have you lost someone?" Connor's voice was soft.
"My parents died in a plane crash. That's why I was out up for adoption. My real parents' business were linked with my adoptive parents' company. They were shocked when they saw me though. They thought I'd have pearls around my neck and a puffy dress covering my body and I turned up in a jumper and jeans with my muddy converse. They weren't too thrilled." My laugh was small and there was a trace of sorrow but I wasn't too upset.
"They sound like a blast. Maybe next time I'm round and they're home I should bring my dog and let him run free in the house. I'll play some of my heavy metal music in the background." we both laughed; properly this time.
"Sounds like a plan." My smile widened.
"Anyway... We better start doing some math." Con said as he picked up his pen, pulling the work sheet towards us...
Time for my brain to shut down.
