Silverwood's Secret

There were always stories about an ancient secret, hidden behind the Silverwood Estate, but that's all they were to Amy. Stories, lost in the sands of time and the ignorance of humanity. So when Victoria Rhye mysteriously disappears from her home late Friday night, Amy doesn't hesitate to follow a lead deep into the forest at Silverwood, along with her good friends Jordan and Leon. What they find there was definitely not the answers they were expecting.

6. A New Perspective

Thump. Thump. Th-thump.

Thump. Th-thump.

Th-thump! Th-thump! Th-thump!

My heartbeat pounds through my head, until I can't take it anymore. I open my eyes, expecting to see a hospital room.

When I rolled over I was in something that looked a lot like a prison cell. My wrist was chained to the floor. Wait? What?!

My body was covered in thick fur and I had paws instead of hands. Paws! I tried to scream, but all that came out was a yelp. After a moment of stunned silence, I decided that any noise that let people know I was here was better than no voice at all, so I continued to yelp.

Eventually I heard someone come down the stairs. A small bit of light shined through the open door.

"She's awake.", a deep voice said. I pin pointed the location of the sound to a large male who smelled a lot like a cedar tree.

"Is", a familiar voice asked.

"Guess we'll find out.", the deep voice answered. "Good morning, sunshine. My name's Scott. How are you liking your new makeover? I think it suits you."

I was thinking of how to respond when something happened. Threat! Kill! Threat! Kill! Something took over my mind and body. I lunged at the bars only to be held back by the chain around my paw. I slammed my paws against the base and gnawed through the thick metal. When I was free I turned back to the scent of cedar. I lunged again, and the bars rattled.

"Holy shit! She got free!", the boy in the shadows said. Why did he sound so familiar?!

"I don't know. New wolves are only aggressive because they're scared. She" I lunged again and almost knocked the steel bars out of the wall. Scott and his friend backed up against the stairs.

"She's gonna get free!"

"Run!" I lunged one more time and I was free. My legs raced for the stairs.

I jumped on top of Scott , but before I could attack I was pulled off him. I rolled and threw my weight to knock my pursuer off balance. Then I turned to finish them off.

I turned straight into Jordan's big brown eyes.
