Dead Anyway

Emily Odell doesn't have the best life. When a hurricane hits and kills the family she loves, it's even worse. In the aftermath, the item left in the rubble she's most interested in is a business card. Weird much? Well, the card has the address of some crazy old gypsy lady on it, and Emily gets the idea that this woman might have something to do with the odd fact that everyone in the house but her died. Meeting the gypsy has a death curse involved, and Emily is determined to make the last days of her life the most memorable. But will she have enough time before death?

15. Nothing

I'm going to die. Die die die. Why can't I die now? Will my death be long and hard, or fast? As usual, in my state of devastation, I'm dependent upon Max to patch up the holes life has ripped into me. "I have to go," I say in a choked voice to the gypsy. "I'll - er - come back." I awkwardly run out the door sobbing. I get in the Cadillac and speed home. Or - to Max's house. Good thing no police were patrolling, since I was going twenty over the limit and I don't have my license. If I did go to jail, who really cares? I'm dead anyway. Life is pointless for me, and I hate it. What about Maxwell? I feel like Twilight. Maxwell is my Edward, and I can't live without him. I'd be a nothing. A sad nothing. Why couldn't I get through it? Taylor Swift could. But, of course, I'm a weak, pathetic nothing.
