In the blink of an eye, it's winter break. Or summer break? Point is, it's Christmas in a few weeks, that's all I know.
Today is the last day of the semester and I can't wait to get home. Michael and Calum invited me to hang out after school and I'm really excited. They are my first real friends in this town and I couldn't ask for anyone better.
Luke and his family are going on vacation somewhere, probably to visit family, so we won't see each other next year.
We have had our semester exams all week and I am more than happy that this is the last one. I'm am even more happy because it is my English exam, which just happens to be my favorite subject. Also, that class has my best friend in it.
I walked to English and sat in my seat. I waited for Michael to come in the room, but knowing him, he probably wouldn't. Michael ditches a lot but ya know, it's cool.
When Michael walked through the door at the very last second, I felt relief spill over me.
"Are you ready for this?" I asked.
"Nope," relaxation over his face.
"I am, why aren't you ready haha?"
"Because, fuck these, that's why."
"Okay," I shrugged.
"I haven't tried, and this is the last one, so."
"Wait, you haven't tried? Aren't these important to you?"
"Not really, I just look at them as tests."
"Okay," I turned back around in my seat when Mrs. Volosin walked into the room.
The rest of the day was easy, my mom picked Michael, Calum, and I up after the exam, and she dropped us off at Michael's.
That's one of the things I love about my mom, she doesn't care if I hang out with guys by myself. She knows me and that I wouldn't go over to their house and have sex. I'm not a whore, she raised me better.
After she dropped us off at Michael's, we ordered a pizza and Calum and I started to watch Michael play video games. After the pizza got there, we ate it, and just started talking about mindless stuff.
My phone started ringing.
"Hang on, I gotta take this," I told them.
"Okay," they replied in sync.
It was Luke.
"Hey," I began.
"Hi, um, I just wanted to see what you were doing," he awkwardly stated.
"I'm, uh, I'm just... You won't be happy."
"You're at Michael's aren't you?" He half laughed.
"Yeah," I joined him.
"Why wouldn't I be happy? It's not like I hate him, or anything," he replied sarcastically.
"Hahaha, I know. I'm sorry. I thought you were leaving right after exams, so I made plans. I'm sorry."
"Stop apologizing, it's okay. I thought I was too, and that's what I told you. So, I get it. Maybe we can hang out when I get back?"
"Yeah, sure. I'd love to," I couldn't help but smile.
"Okay, I'll text you," I could tell that he was smiling too.
I hung up my phone and returned to my friends, only to see that the pizza was gone. I sat back on the floor and put my phone down.
"Who was that?" Michael asked.
"Luke," I simply replied.
"Wait, like, Luke Hemmings?"
"Ugh, I hate that guy," Michael said with disgust.
I rolled my eyes, "he told me he didn't like you either after the first day of school. I don't know why you don't like him."
"He's a snoot. He thinks he is better than everyone. All because he is attractive or whatever and all of the girls find him cute. He also claims to have 'fans.' Like dude, you are a fucking fourteen year old kid in high school, you don't have fans. He's a dick with an ego."
I turned to Calum and he was just sitting there awkwardly.
"He isn't a dick, and it's kind of funny because he said you were one too. But I'm still friends with you. He also doesn't have an ego, he is one of the most humble guys I've met. He's really nice," I was not going to let him talk shit about one of my friends.
"See, you're just like every other girl I know. 'Luke is nice. Luke is sweet. Luke is soooo cute. He is really talented.' Bullshit. He's just a dick," Michael said in an attempt at a girls voice.
I rolled my eyes, "just stop, okay? I know you don't like him, but I do. Can we just drop this?"
"Heh, you and every other girl on the planet," he said under his breath, "sure."
The rest of the day was fun, easy. I continued texting Luke, and he eventually fell asleep. About ten o'clock, we turned on a movie. I found myself asleep about five minutes in, I woke up the next morning with Calum laying in my lap, and an awkward silence between me, myself, and I.
