Five days later
The trip to London was long, surprisingly and thankfully London slept though most of it, we landed early this morning and had only just got into a taxi at the airport, London asleep once again, probably the jetlag, when we got to the apartment I mentally noted to go car hunting, the keys where placed on the bench after I set all the bags down in the main room, London already off exploring while I notice a lot of dust over everything, showing how long I haven’t been here. I drag two of the bags at a time into my room before I start to unpack them, putting mine and London’s clothes in the wardrobe, setting our bathroom supplies up and stripping the bed of the dirty covers, putting them in the empty washing basket and searching the wardrobe draws for a fresh bed set. Once the bed is done, London is bouncing up and down on it, I head into the kitchen checking in the fridge and pantry to make sure there isn’t any old and nasty food, when I discover that two years ago I cleared it out I was glad and made my way back towards the bed room, grabbing London and making her giggle like crazy as I tickle her sides, I grab my keys and phone from the counter and leave the apartment hoping that there is still a grocery store down he road from the apartment building.
“Should we get this?” I ask London as she sits in the trolley, she nods excitedly and I pass her the bag of lollies, I had gathered plenty of cleaning supplies for the extremely dirty apartment also a heap of food and drinks to fill the cupboards and fridge.
London sits on the lounge as I pack the shelves of the pantry and fridge with the food and drinks I just got, once I had finished that I started wiping down benches, cleaning windows and window seals anything with dust was cleaned up, the floor was vacuumed and I was finally finished, a vase of white roses in the middle of the dining room was placed just like when I use to live here before I took a seat beside London who sat on the lounge watching TV.
“Are Bandit and Sassy going to be here too?” London asks and I look towards her, her multi coloured eyes staring back at me and I nod.
“They should be here soon, they had to go to a special place to get them checked, if they don’t get checked they might get sick while there over here, and they will get checked again when we go back home.” I explain and she nods, the TV is the centre of attention for both of us until I feel my stomach grumble. “Do you want to go somewhere to get dinner?”
“Maccas?” she smiles wide at me with hope, her small teeth showing and I laugh nodding at her.
“If you want.” She jumps up and I do the same, grabbing my jacket and slipping it on before doing the same with hers, helping her zip it up before we leave the apartment, after a bit of walking were at MacDonald’s, we order and get a table, eating our meal before London asks to play on the equipment outside, I agree and sit on a bench in the gated playground, seeing London every now and again as she comes down a slide and goes back into the equipment. Eventually I am able to get her to leave, on the walk back to the apartment, I ask her if she likes London so far and all she says is its too cold, I tell her that that was the first thing I complained about when I arrived and we high fived for being the same. Once we get back to the apartment I set up London’s cot to the side of my bed, I get her ready for bed and warm up some milk for her before putting her in the cot to drink and eventually fall asleep, I stayed up, in the main room on my laptop, massaging back and forth with Tegan and Claudia who were staying at my apartment in Sydney while London and I were here. I was glad with the things that happen today, the whole apartment was tidied and the cupboards and fridge regained the content they had lost almost three years ago, the bags being unpacked and the apartment going back to how I remember it.
London and I sat on the stools eating breakfast, she smiles at me showing her small purely whites, I smile back at her and soon we are finished our food, London has taken it upon herself to turn the TV on and watch it while I place the dirty dishes in the dishwasher, I sit beside her and think to myself for a while, an hour passed of just doing nothing and I finally made a disition.
“London, stay here, I’ll be back in a moment, okay?” she nods and I get up from my place beside her, walking to the door and opening it, I leave it open as I make my way across the hall and to Liam’s apartment door, im not entirely sure if he still lives here but it’s worth a shot, as I knock on the door I listen out, the buzz from the TV in my apartment sounding before I finally hear feet and the door opens to reveal a brown haired girl, I smile.
“Hi, um is Liam, ah, here?” she looks over my shoulder at the open door before nodding.
“Just a sec.” she closes the door and I hear her call for Liam, I feel heat rush though my body and I don’t know what I was expecting, probably for him not to be living here anymore, or for him to be sleeping, im snapped out of my thoughts as the door creeks open and brown eyes meet mine before they widen.
“Ellen?” he sounds surprised, happy ever, “how are you?” he embraces me in a hug and I smile when he pulls away.
“I’ve been great, and yourself?”
“Good. You look different.” He pauses, “In a good way of cause.”
“So do you, but I guess I have kind of watched you change, you guys being famous and all.” He nods.
“Yeah I guess I could say there’s never a day we don’t get our photo taken.” We both laugh as I nod, “Did you want to come in?” he gestures into the apartment and I look back to mine.
“Ah, actually.” I look back up at him, “there’s someone I want you to meet.” He looks surprised and I think he might be thinking I have a new boyfriend but he is going to be oddly mistaken.
“Okay.” He nods before taking a few steps back into his apartment and calling something out, he steps out of the apartment, closing the door and following me into mine, he looks around for a moment before his eyes settling on London, her attention still zoned on the TV.
“London, come meet someone.” I say and she looks towards us, Liam catches my eyes and I don’t know what he is thinking, London hops off the lounge and makes her way towards un, holding around my knee as she stays close to my side, looking up at Liam.
“Liam, this is London, London, this is mummy’s friend Liam.” He kneels down to be more her height before out stretching his hand.
“Nice to meet you, London.” She says with a smile, her right hand takes his while her left come to her mouth, biting the tips of her fingers showing she is nervous.
“Hello.” She says softly.
“How old are you?” Liam asks, I look down on her and she had three fingers held up, I reach down and push one into her fist causing her to smile up at me. “You’re two? Wow im twenty.”
“So is mummy.” I run my fingers though her soft brown hair as she moves more in front of me, Liam smiling up at me before returning his vision back to her.
“Do you like it in London, London?” Liam asks causing London to giggle, he smiles at his joke before she replies.
“It’s cold.” She states.
“I know, it’s not like Australia, is it?” she shakes her head, a few more things are asked before London goes back to the TV and Liam and I stand around talking. “She looks like him.” I swallow as I look towards Liam whose eyes are still on London.
“I know.” I reply softly, my arms folded over my stomach.
“Your hair is a different colour.” He states looking at me now.
“Slightly.” I nod, “Liam, I don’t want him to know.”
“He is going to finger it out Ellen, you left here almost three years ago pregnant and now you have a two year old daughter.”
“If I can help it I don’t want to see him.” he frowns.
“It’s his daughter Ellen; don’t you think he has a right to know?” I shake my head.
“We were going to terminate her, for all he knows she doesn’t exist.”
“How long are you here for?”
“Four to five months, we leave before Christmas.” He nods.
“And why are you over here?”
“I have a few things to do concerning my published.” He nods again.
“I’ve read it, well some of it, it’s good.” I smile.
“Thanks.” I look towards London, “So how are the other boys?”
“There okay, I don’t exactly want to say Louis forgot about you because I know he hasn’t, even though his with someone now.” Liam shrugs, “I just don’t think what you guys had can be forgotten.”
“Liam I didn’t ask if he forgot me.” I look at him.
“Im just telling you.” I shake my head.
“I’d prefer to stay away from details about him.”
