He breathes his fire on the hearts of innocents,
melting away meticulously built walls
Untill only the framework remains in the wake of despair
As he flies to claim another.
He has the power to change,
To never again leave behind scorched earth
on the hearts of those who love him.
The power to become a prince,
the choice of trading scales for armour,
fire for a sword
with which to fight arduous battles
in the name of the damsel's safety
lies in his clawed reach.
But he his a dragon
And that is all he will ever be.
