I looked down at the dirt ground. Little pieces of grass popped up here and there, but nothing showing any signs of water.
Trying to keep my cool, I proudly hauled myself up a rocky ledge, gripping onto the dry sandstone. I was the leader of this pack, after all, and I knew that I had to at least pretend like I knew what I was doing.
Behind me, no one dared to say a word as they followed along. Our mouths were parched, glued shut.
There were 4 of us. All stranded and lost, looking for a way out.
I turned around and opened my mouth to say something, but already I was too late. A rubber boot bashed my head and I was out cold.
