We ran through the Vortex once again.
"You're sure we're going to end up back home?" I asked.
"Uhhhh...no!" said Susan.
"What?!" I cried.
Another place began to appear. It was outside this time.
I picked a newspaper someone threw away.
"Where are we?" asked Susan. "Does that primitive message say?"
"It's called...a newspaper," I said.
"It's like holo-news, except it's printed on paper."
"We're at a military school in 1913," I said. "On Earth."
A man with hair that stuck up in the front and a gray suit bumped into me.
"Sorry," he said.
He looked at me, puzzled. "You look oddly familiar."
"I just have that sort of face I suppose," I told him. Don't see the console, don't see the console, I thought.
He took my hand. "I'm John Smith."
"Pleasure to meet you, Doctor. I need to get to my class now. Good day."
He ran off to the school, his funny hair blowing in the wind.
I took Susan back to the console. "Let's hope we get home this time."
