"Oh. My. Gosh." I said this to Rosie once we got outside the store. She just looked at me with a mischievous smile.
"What?" I asked. A smile was now plastered to my face.
"You are SO into him," she announced with a proud smile. I mean yeah he was cute... And those eyes, his eyes were perfect and he looked so kind.
"Okay, so I might kinda like him," I say. "But that doesn't mean he likes me and I'll probably never see him again, so there goes anything there."
"Who said you'll never see him again?" Just by the look in her face while she said that I knew she had a plan. I had no idea what it was, but she had a plan and I don't think I'm going to like it.
Then, without word, Rosie turns around and walks back into the store. I watch her through the glass outside. She walks back in line and just waits. Rosie turns her head in my direction and grins widely before taking a step up in line. What is she doing?
I grin at Elle. No doubt she likes this cashier and there's no way that I'm just going to let this breeze by. And there's no way that she'd actually come over here and ask for his number.
That's why I'm waiting in line again. I'm going to ask for his number so I can give it to Elle. I will literally do anything to make her happy, she's my best friend, she's my un biological sister. I'm doing this because I know she'll thank me later.
In fact, if Elle knew what I was doing right now, she'd probably drag me out of the mall and call me insane. But hey, life would get boring if your not crazy sometimes. You just have to live a little.
Finally, after a few minutes I'm up at the register face to face with the guy. His name tag says his name is Luke. Cute.
He greets me the same as he did when I actually wanted to buy something but then comments, "Weren't you just here with your friend?" I nod. "So, how can I help you?" He asks.
"Well," I say. "My friend's name is Elle and I think she likes you." I wasn't going to try and hide the obvious truth. "I was wondering if I could get your number, or maybe I could give you hers?"
His eyes started to light up when I asked this question. He nodded slightly and told me that his shift ended in 5 minutes and offered to take us for pizza. I smiled and agreed. I also gave him her number.
I walked out of the store with a smug smile while Elle's jaw just hung open at me. I filled her in on everything that happened in the store and she just stared at me, in disbelief. Although she tried to act kind of angry, you could easily she that she filled up with happiness.
"I don't know what to say," she gasped.
"A thanks?" I offer. She nods in return.
A smile was glued to her face and she was just so giddy. When she's this excited, she doesn't hide her emotions well.
We sit down on the bench in front of the store to wait for Luke. I have to admit, I'm happy for once that, when it comes to talking, I have no fear.
