Holland Welsh is special. No one really knows who she is and what she does in her spare time, all they know is that she randomly leaves class and doesn't come back until the next day and that she loves gym class. Holland id incredibly smart and good at basically everything, it's a pity really that no body notices her. Holland Welsh is a slightly above average girl with one very strange secret. Can one boy change all that? One certain boy; Mitch Henderson, is it possible that he could change everything? Or will he end up like all the others, collateral damage?

6. Ace Hains- welcome to the family

I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. Someone that I don’t know is coming to live with us, someone who could easily get me killed. If I mess things up with Ace I could mess everything up.  If he goes down, I will most certainly go down with him.

Ace will be here soon and I am so not ready. What will he be like, will he be a snobby rich kid or a shy nerdy geek? Who knows what he would be like, I guess I can only hope that he will be easy to handle.

"Holland honey, Ace is here!" My mother chirped from outside my bedroom door.

I silently brace myself for what is going to come next, Ace will be living right next to me for God knows how long. Thank God my bedroom is sound-proof.

Just inside the door to our house stands one unfamiliar male. He has slightly long hair, sort of Justin Bieber-y before he cut it, it was brown and had green tips at the ends. His eyes were also green, thats probably where he got the whole green ends thing from. He was dressed in black and my guess was that  he had a motorcycle, he just looked like that type.

Mum stood at the door with John, gushing about all the fun things we were going to do with Ace while he stayed with us. Ace though, look so uncomfortable and utterly bored.

"Ace, this is my daughter Holland. You'll be in some of her classes I believe? And you'll be rooming right next door to her!" She seemed so excited that a boy was staying in the room right next to her one and only daughter.

"Oh, cool I guess." His eyes drifted over to me and I gave a little wave.

"Holland why don’t you show Ace to his bedroom" I nod and walk up the stairs, gesturing for Ace to follow.

I open the third door to my left, "This is your room, the bathroom door is near the window, the other one's the closet. Have fun." I walk into the room and show him the doors, then I walk out and back into my room.

I walk over to my bed and plonk down, enjoying my free day.

"Your not a very pleasant person, are you?" Ace stands at my door, startling me slightly. I didn’t even hear the door open.

"Yeah well, its not my job to be pleasant now is it?" I close my eyes and put my arms under my head. This is the comfiest I have been in a long time, with my hair in a long braid, my legs clad in baggy grey sweat pants and a white crop top covered most of my torso.

"You have a point. But you could at least try right. I mean, you seem like a cool chick. Whats your music?"

"Whatever, I guess. I listen to metal when I....work" Oops? Nah, I did that just to freak him out. To be honest though, listening to metal while I work really makes things more..Interesting.

"Nice." He was now sitting on my desk chair, spinning around slowly, inspecting my room. "You wanna show me around town, whats cool here anyways?"

"That depends what you call cool."

"Hey, chuck me your phone." He claps his hands like he's waiting for me to actually throw him my phone. There is no chance in hell that is going to happen.

"Why don’t you throw me your phone?" He shrugged and tossed it to me, the black iPhone landing into my hand easily. Of course he had an iPhone though.

I put my number into his phone and tossed it back.

I ended up showing him the park where my 'spot' is and played on the swings, we went to all the even remotely cool things our town has to offer. We went to the bowling alley and played a few games, Ace was absolutely terrible and I beat him almost every game, I let him win once. We walked to Billie's Pizza, who by the way, has the best pizza ever and shared a pizza.

He wasn’t actually all that bad. I was right when I thought he’d be rich but what I wasn’t right about was the snobby part. He was funny and made so many jokes, he liked sport-well swimming- and he absolutely loved kittens.

We laughed and cried (from all the laughter) and when it was almost dark, we headed home for dinner. We were going to have vegetable lasagne which was my absolute favourite. I was kind of sad that our night had to end and there was nearly no doubt in my mind that we would eventually become good friends.

Dinner was amazing- as per usual. Mother and John made small talk with Ace all the way through, trying to get to know him better and I have to say, I learnt quite a bit about him at dinner too.

Mum suggested that tomorrow night I invite Max, George and Amillya to stay the night and then all day Monday we could spend the day together, just the five of us. Long weekends were the best.

So in my room we sat, Ace on my bed and me on the floor. I was busy talking to the guys about tomorrow nigh and Ace was trying to avoid all attention I shoved his was.

"So your mums cool with guys sleeping over in your room?"

"Well yeah, we've known each other for ages, minus George I've only known him for about three years, ever since he started dating Amillya. Max lives next door, Im actually surprised that he didn’t come and mug you."

As if he had known we were talking about him, Max burst through the door panting and collapsed on the floor next to me, pushing his thick glasses back up his nose.

"Sup Holl! Hows life? Wow sorry man, didn’t see you there. Max." He stood up and walked over to my bed, doing that bro thing with Ace and then plonking back down next to me.

"So, what are we doing tonight?" Max was looking at me, wagging his legs in the air like he was a school girl waiting for gossip.

"Who says theres a we?"

"Oh, me and your mum. Im staying the night. Im going to need one of my sweatshirts to sleep in" At that Ace raises an eyebrow and I cant help but think that this is the most normal my life has been for a very long time.

"He stays here a lot" I explain.

"Damn right I do." He seems so proud about that fact. But Max was probably my best friend and I loved him, he stayed in my bed a lot.

When I killed my first person, it seemed to haunt me in my dreams and Id ask Max to come and stay with me. My mum knew but she just thought I had random bad dreams. But Max and I have made it a habit to just stay with each other nearly every other day. My parents consider him a part of the family, a brother to me.

I click on Amillya's Skype and she picks up almost strait away.

"Hey Milly! You wanna stay at ming tomorrow night? We'll spend Monday showing more of the town to Ace." I turn the computer to face Ace and he gives a small wave.

'Yeah Im up for it! What about you babe?" It was then that I realise that she must have been with George.

"Sorry! Did I interrupt something" I apologise quickly

"No of course not! But yeah George can come to, I swear he'd do anything for your mums cooking"

"Amen sister" Max's sassy remark made me laugh a little.

Amillya and I said our goodbyes and had a quick talk about what to bring tomorrow night before I logged off and shut the computer.

We were quiet for a little while before Max chimed in. "Well ladies, it looks like we're having a slumber party!"
