Arthur Weasley walked into the Burrow's kitchen, where everybody was seated around the table. Instantly a protest went up:
"Have you changed his mind?" "It's stupid, I won't do it!" "What happened, Dad?"
Arthur took a seat by his wife and looked tiredly at them all. "He won't change his mind, you know. The letters will be here soon."
Everybody looked round at each other. Ginny saw Harry watching her and blinked, looking away. They wouldn't be paired. She knew it. Just on cue, an owl each flew in through the window. Ginny swallowed and squeezed Harry's hand, then opened her letter. As she read it she heard people's reactions all round the table.
Dear Miss Weasley,
As you will already know this is your letter containing your partner for the Marriage Law. Due to the amount of magical blood lost during the war, we are pairing all single witches and wizards who are of age. Once you have been paired you must be married within three months, and bear or be carrying a magical child within one year of marriage.
Your partner is: Mr Harry Potter
Yours, Kingsley Shacklebolt, Minister for Magic.
Ginny looked up at Harry; they both grinned and were snogging in seconds. After a moment Mrs Weasley prised them apart.
"No need to ask who these two have... Hermione, dear?" She went round the table, asking who people had. Hermione and Ron had each other which they were happy about; George had Angelina; Fred had Alicia; and Percy got Penelope. Bill and Charlie were already married.
It seemed they were all happy with their spouse.
"So now, when are we all getting married?" Mrs Weasley asked. There was a sudden loud pop and Angelina, Penelope and Alicia appeared, and ran to the twins and Percy. "So yes, when are we getting married then?"
They had until 3rd June to all get married. Percy and Penelope chose April 24th; George and Angelina chose April 30th; Fred and Alicia chose May 10th; Ron and Hermione chose May 16th, and finally Harry and Ginny chose May 26th, the last to be married.
