When I wake up in the morning, my head hurts, and the sun is shining in through the windows of the room. I squint a little, and then bury my head back in Louis’s chest. The light makes my already throbbing head hurt even more, and Louis just rubs my arm gently with his hand. I sigh a little, and Louis asks, “How are you feeling Evie?”
I shrug a little, and mumble, “My head hurts.”
He asks, “Any better than before?”
I shake my head a little bit, “Not really.”
He kisses the top of my head and says, “I’m sorry babe, I wish we could’ve been there sooner. Hell, I wish that hadn’t happened at all to be honest.”
I nod a little, “It’s okay, I mean, you didn’t tell them to come, and there’s no way you could’ve known Liam would do that. The two of you were friends…”
He nods, and then says, “Alright, let’s get dressed and go downstairs. The guys are probably up, and we need to get some furniture and food and things like that for this place, and if I do recall correctly, a certain blonde haired girl gets to pick out those things…”
I smile a little, and then we both get up. I take a very quick shower since the hot water isn’t hooked up yet, and then I put on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. I brush my hair and teeth quickly, and then slip on some shoes and make my way downstairs.
The guys and I all go out and drive until we reach a shopping center, and go into a huge furniture store first. Louis and I pick out things for our bedroom, and then he lets me pick out the furniture for the living room, wreck room, kitchen, dining room, and study as well. It’s all so exciting, and it’s almost like Louis and I are buying our own house. It’s so perfect.
After we finish at the furniture store, and then also go next door and buy appliances, Niall and Harry go back to the house to let the movers in with all of the furniture, and also to help them. Louis, Zayn, and I go to a couple more stores and buy things like towels and blankets and plates and other things of that nature. Closer to the house we also stop at the grocery store because Niall called and told us that the fridge was hooked up and running.
When we finally get back home, we take everything inside, and Louis says that he has to run back out quickly, and gives me a kiss before he goes. Harry and I stay in the kitchen work on putting all of the groceries away while Niall and Zayn work on setting up the other rooms. After an hour or so, we’re all done.
I’m beyond tired, and so I go out into the den and lie down on the couch. I grab the blanket off the top of the couch and curl up under it, then I just let my eyes fall shut, and sleep takes over my body.
When I get back home after my last errand, I take my little surprise for Evelyn inside. The house is quiet, and so first I look up in our bedroom, thinking that Evelyn would probably have gone upstairs since it seems like they must’ve finished with everything that needed to be done, at least for the time being.
When I don’t see Evelyn in our room, I go across the hall to Harry’s room. He looks up and asks, “Whatcha got there Lou? Find a stray or something?”
I shake my head, “That’s why I went out, he’s for Evelyn. Where is she?”
He says, “Down in the den, asleep on the couch.”
I nod a little, and then hurry downstairs to see Evelyn and give her the puppy I went out to buy her.
Harry was right. When I reach the den, Evelyn is asleep on the couch, and she looks so peaceful… I don’t know if I want to wake her up, but at the same time, I want her to see the puppy. I can’t wait to see her face when I give him to her. She wanted a pet before, but we couldn’t get her one because there wasn’t enough room in the flat, the landlord would make you jump through hoops to keep a pet, and Liam had a thing about not buying animals or any of us having them, only God knows why.
In the end, I decide to just wake her up gently. I shake her shoulder a little bit and say quietly, “Hey, wake up babe… Evie, wake up please… I’ve got something here for you.”
She groans and opens her eyes slowly. She stretches out a little on the couch, and then rubs her eyes before looking up at me. I smile and kiss her nose, saying, “Well hello sleeping beauty.”
She blushes a little, and says, “Hey Lou.”
I say, “Well, I’ve got a surprise for you. It’s right behind the couch.”
Her eyes widen and she grins. Evelyn loves surprises. She sits up quickly, probably a little too quickly, because then she puts her head in her hands and sighs deeply. I ask, “You okay?”
She just takes a minute, and then looks up and asks, “So, can I have the surprise?”
I nod a little, and chuckle to myself. Why does Evelyn have to be so damn cute all the time? God, I love her. I go around the back of the couch and pick up the little dog, which has been surprisingly quiet considering it’s a puppy, and it’s in a new place, meeting new people.
I bring him up so that Evelyn can see him, and her eyes widen and she smiles so much I’m sure it must hurt her cheeks. She looks up at me and asks, “Really? You got me a puppy!? I get to keep him?”
I nod a little, and hand the puppy dog to her. She hugs him to her chest and kisses the top of his head. The little dog licks her face and barks happily a couple times. For a few minutes she just looks at the puppy and showers him in kisses. Finally I ask, “So, good surprise?”
She looks up at me with a grin on her face, and nods excitedly, “Thank you so much Lou!! He’s perfect! You’re the best!”
She sets the puppy down for a minute so that she can jump up and kiss me. She pulls back so that she can hug me after a minute, and says into my chest, “I love you Lou.”
I smile and kiss the top of her head, “I love you too Evelyn, I’m glad you like him so much.”
