It had been 7 hours since I went without food. My stomach grumbled. I got off the bed opening the bedroom door, I could hear laughter, giggling and talking coming from the living room. I decided to avoid it and went straight to the kitchen hoping no one would notice me.
“Amelia,” I heard Jai’s voice coming from behind me. I spun around to find Daniel and Luke next to him.
“Hey,” I whispered, my throat was dry, I hadn’t drunk anything at all today and it was 6 in the afternoon. I grabbed a glass from the cupboard and filled it up with cold water; I jugged the whole thing down.
“How you feeling?” Luke asked.
“Better, I guess.” I said shrugging. They all gave me a sympathetic look.
“We’re sorry,” Jai said.
“Guys, it’s not your fault.” I said sighing.
“Don’t blame it on Beau though; he wanted to tell you so much but the DR wouldn’t let him.” Daniel said. I let out a small sigh.
“Where is he?” I asked no one in particular.
“Living room,” Luke replied.
“But, uh, Mi, don’t you want something to eat before you speak to him?” Jai suggested worriedly, he’s hiding something.
“Hmmm, sure…” I said suspiciously.
“I’ll make you a sandwich.” Jai replied smiling. I took a seat near the kitchen isle.
“Isn’t your mum home yet?” I asked Luke, Daniel took a seat next to me.
“We told her the situation so she’s staying at nonna’s a few more days until you and Beau are fine.” He explained.
“Viola, a ham and cheese sandwich for the pretty lady.” Jai said in a posh voice.
“Woah, thank you so much,” I said as if it took him 4 years to make.
After 10 minutes I finished eat my sandwich, yes I am aware I am a slow eater.
“Okay, I’ll go and talk to Beau now.” I said getting up but Daniel pushed me back down.
“Uh, wait we need to feed the cats.” He blubbered.
“What cats?” I raised my eyebrow.
“Their cats,” He said point to Jai and Luke.
“They don’t own cats?” I questioned him.
“Yeah, cats are little sluts,” Jai mumbled, I couldn’t help but giggle.
“Fine but we have to feed Lala,” Daniel carried on.
“Okay?” I grabbed Lala’s bowl and filled it up with her dog food. “Done,” I said walking out the kitchen but Luke grabbed my hand pulling me back in.
“What about the fish?” Luke said.
“What fucking fish?” I replied. “I don’t know what you guys are doing but I’m going to talk to Beau now.” I said yanking my hand from Luke’s grip. I heard the boys trying to protest behind me but I carried on walking. I stayed paralysed when I got there. My eyes pierced into hers.
“Oh, I’m Kaitlyn, Beau’s ex.” She smiled at me from the sofa; Beau had his arm around her. They were so close, too close. Beau didn’t know where to look; you could feel the awkward tension from a mile away.
“Oh, I’m Amelia, Beau’s girlfriend.”
