I finished applying the last of my mascara to my eyelashes when Beau walked in.
“You ready yet?” He asked.
“Yup,” I smiled happily.
“You look nice,” He said looking at me up and down with a smile.
“Thank you,” I said before walking out. I was wearing a pair of black shorts, a white singlet with black Puma Suedes. “How long do you think we’ll be there for?” I asked Beau whilst I grabbed my bag, sunglasses and phone.
“It depends how long we have to wait and if he needs to run any scans.” Beau told me. By ‘he’ I’m guessing he meant DR Jenkins.
“Okay,” I muttered nervously.
“You’ll be fine, if anything your memory has gotten better so try not to stress about it.” Beau gave me a comforting smile.
“Ah, Amelia, lovely to see you again.” DR Jenkins smiled widely shaking my hand before turning to Beau repeating the same sentence he said to me. “Oh, please, please take a seat.” He gestured to the chairs opposite his desk. He started typing something away on his computer screen before turning to us. “So, Amelia, how have you been getting on?” He asked me. I felt Beau grip hold of my hand.
“Okay, I guess.” I shrugged, not really knowing what to say. How does he expect I am? I lost my memory for god’s sake. Jenkins grabbed a pen and a notepad before scribbling some things down.
“Have you been getting any headaches or feeling any dizziness lately?” DR Jenkins asked.
“Nope,” I shook my head.
“Very good,” The doctor said before writing again on his piece of paper.
“Have you remembered anything recently?” His head not leaving the paper as he spoke.
“Uh, yeah, I’ve been having flashbacks but in dreams if that don’t sound too crazy or weird.” I said uncertain. He smiled at me and then grinned at Beau.
“Fantastic,” He simply said. “When was the last time you had them?”
“This morning,” I said. Beau squeezed my hand.
“Would you mind telling me who are in these flashbacks?” Why does he need to know?
“My friends but mostly it’s Beau.” I said, turning to find Beau smiling down at his lap. Jenkins carried on writing.
“Good, good. Amelia, I hope you don’t mind but Ill need to run a few scans. Would you like to come this way?” Jenkins asked getting up from his seat and walking towards the door. I looked at him and Beau continuously. I’d rather Beau come with us too. “Don’t worry, Beau can come too.” The doctor said as if he could read my mind.
“When will you get the results back?” Beau asked DR Jenkins.
“One to two weeks, I will get in contact with you as soon as we have them.” He replied.
“Is that all?” I asked him, hoping he’ll say no so I could finally go back home.
“That’s it for now, thank you Amelia.” He nodded before leading us out his office door. Beau entwined his fingers with mine again, causing me to smile slightly.
“Thank you,” I told him, walking quickly out his office door dragging Beau with me.
“What’s the rush?” Beau chuckled.
“I’m tired of the place; I just want to stay in bed.” I said yawning.
“That makes 2 of us,”
“Movie day?” We synced. We started laughing for a couple of seconds.
“Yeah?” He replied.
“Do I really have a boyfriend?” I asked him biting my lip.
“Yeah,” He replied silently.
“Are you lying? Please don’t lie, I’m sick of lies.” I whispered the last part of the sentence.
“Mi, you do have a boyfriend.”
“Promise,” He gave me a warm smile.
“Why haven’t I met him yet then? Or at least spoke to him? I don’t have his number.” I looked at Beau confused, confused as hell.
“Oh, uh, his phone broke and hasn’t had time to get one seeing as he is on that work trip and stuff.” Beau mumbled.
“What about your girlfriend?” I carried on. He pulled his hand away from mine.
“What about her?” He said rather quickly.
“What’s her name again? Alicia was it?” I said trying to catch him out on whatever he was playing.
“Oh, Alicia, yeah she’s fine.” He put on a fake smile.
“Beau, you told me her name was Alice…” What the fuck is going on?
