“This is so good,” I said sipping a bit of my slurpee hoping I wouldn’t get brain freeze.
“This is the only thing I’ve been looking forward to all day,” Tilly said looking at her Slurpee.
“Same,” I started laughing at how silly we sounded.
“Can you see them anywhere?” Tilly asked, by ‘them’ she meant the boys and girls.
“Erm,” I said in concentration, my eyes scanning the beach full of strangers. “No,” I sighed. “Let me ring Georgia.” I pulled my phone out, clicked on Georgia’s name and called her. After a few rings she answered.
“Hellooo,” She sang.
“Where are you lot?” I asked.
“Ooh, we’re further down the beach because it was too crowded up there. I’ll send one of boys to come and get you two.”
“Okay, adios.” I said, hanging up.
“Where are they then?” Tilly asked, still looking for them.
“She said they’re further down the beach but she’s getting one of the boys to come and get us.” I told Tilly, she nodded and took another sip of her half frozen drink.
“So, who were you talking about when you thought out loud?” Tilly asked referring to earlier today in the car.
“Oh, I can’t even remember,” I laughed awkwardly.
“I promise I won’t tell anyone. You can trust me.” She gave me a warm smile. I did trust her; I just didn’t want anyone to know about my feelings. It was wrong, I had a boyfriend.
“Promise?” I gave her a stern look.
“Cross my heart, hope to die.” She replied.
“Okay, it was-” I was cut off with a tap on my shoulder.
“Hey James,” I gave him a hug. Tilly soon went and gave him a peck on the lips. He took her hand and entwined his fingers with hers. They were so cute, I was jealous in a way.
“How far down are we on the beach?” I asked as we started walking along shore.
“Just a five minute walk, not too long.” He answered me. We walked for a couple of minutes more, talking about random things.
“And we’re here.” He spoke walking up to where everyone was sat.
“Ameliaaa!” Daniel sang running up to me giving me a hug.
“Danielllll!” I sung back, returning the hug. I then said hello to Luke and Jai. Didn’t bother with Beau seeing as I saw him earlier. This all felt so familiar, kind of like déjà vu.
“We’re going in the water, coming?” Luke asked.
“No, I’ll just catch some sun.” I smiled at him.
“Na, I’m fine.” Beau replied.
“Alright,” Luke said walking off with the others. I was lying down on my back on my towel. I could feel Beau staring at me but I didn’t say anything, I just carried on sunbathing. 5 minutes went by and I could still feel Beau staring into me.
“Stop that,” I finally said. I heard him chuckle.
“Stop what?” He acted as if he didn’t know what I was on about.
“I can feel you staring at me, stop, it makes me feel uncomfortable.” I said turning over so I was facing him.
“Hmm, sorry.” He smiled, coming over and sitting down next to me. I sat up, turned around to face everyone in the water.
“Beau?” I asked, my eyes not leaving the water. He let out a ‘Mhmm,’ for me to carry on. “We have been here before, right?” I asked him.
“Yeah, this is where the pictures were taken that are up in our apartment.” He explained.
“Of course,” I muttered.
“Why?” He asked, looking at me.
“No, just feels so, so familiar.” I said.
“Maybe because those shit heads were with us too,” He chuckled, point at the girls and boys in the water. I giggled a bit too. “Want to go in the water?”
“Nope, you go on. I’ll stay here.” I twisted my head around so I was facing him.
“Okay, come get me if you need anything.” He told me. I nodded and laid back down, falling asleep.
