Don't think I've done this many updates in a long while.
Basically I know I said I would wait until tomorrow to update, but this chapter has got me all excited and I just wanted to share it with you.
If you read my recent mumble you'll know that this was completely unplanned, but kind of expected in a way.
I'm so excited to get down to the real plot behind the story, and really get you guys shocked with the material that I have planned. It's going to get a lot worse for Vienna before it gets better. I definitely hope to leave you all feeling a little stunned after this chapter. I think you'll be surprised how close James and Vienna are going to get after this.
Remember, 1k views and I'll be revealing two spoilers that should be put into place in chapters 29 and 30. They're going to be quite difficult chapters for me to write, but hey...things never go the way you want to in stories!
"Boom! I whooped your ass again! Admit defeat Barnes!" Megan's voice fills our quiet flat.
I curse at my best friend and slump back into my bean bag. Megan beat me again at Monopoly. I don't know how she does it, but she beats me every single time.
"I really thought the Sunderland edition would be different this time." I joke, "Guess I was wrong then."
"Damn right!" Megan giggles, "You want a drink?"
"Ah go on then. We got any diet coke left?"
Megan answers my question with a yes, and quickly hands me the glass. She quickly retakes her place on the white bean bag next to me and begins frantically texting someone. Probably Lloyd.
After our little work night out, I got back to the flat completely obliterated. James had to carry me to my bed, and I somehow managed to lose one of my favourite ballerina pumps which I was not happy about the following morning. Megan was no where to be seen, and being in the drunken state I was I completely shrugged it off. The next day I woke up to find that Megan still wasn't around, she was in fact upstairs, in James' flat, with Lloyd. They had sex. Multiple times. To be honest I'm not surprised, it's typical of Megan to act like this.
"Oh shit, V?" Megan asks, a certain sense of panic in her voice.
"I'd get your shit together, we could be having some guests over pretty soon."
Before I have a chance to ask further questions, Megan lifts her phone up to her ear and begins to speak to someone, I'm guessing Lloyd.
"Lloyd? What the hell's going up there?"
I listen in silence as Lloyd's familiar voice can be heard on the end in a low buzzing noise. Something has kicked off with James, I know that for a fact. Not only can I hear banging from the opposite end of the phone, faint noises can be heard from above our flat. The other thing that's bothering me is that, if Lloyd is on the phone, someone else is up there with James. I've heard nothing more on the whole Anna situation, but I have a feeling I could be hearing about it very soon. High pitched shrieks can be heard above anything else, and these only confirm that Anna is upstairs with James right now.
If we can hear the noise, god knows what everyone else in the building must think. Christ.
"But she's got nothing to do with it!" Megan suddenly snaps, waving her arms about frantically, "Why is this bitch involving her?!"
It's Anna. I know it.
"What, now?" Megan demeanour suddenly changes and she shoots me a panicked look, "Crap."
I don't even need to hear another word from Megan. I immediately jump up and head for my bedroom, grabbing any form of clothing I can in the process. If things are about to get ugly then I need to at least wear something other than a monkey onesie. At least my hair and makeup are decent.
The only thing I manage to put on are a pair of printed trousers and a plain white t-shirt, before a loud banging on our door erupts. I can hear Anna's voice blaring through the wall and I immediately feel anxiety step in. I didn't think she would be this angry.
"Where is she?!"
"Hold on you can't just waltz straight in here throwing your fucking weight around!" Megan screams.
My breathing increases dramatically and I drop onto my bed. I don't even know why she's so angry, but the tips of my fingers are burning hot, and this is the first sign of a panic attack. This has all happened so quickly, I don't even know how to react.
"Anna chill out." James tries his best to calm down Anna as she storms into my bedroom.
"What in God's name has he been saying to you?!"
"Do you mind?!" Megan interrupts, pushing a hard hand against Anna's shoulder.
"The fuck off me you little rat." Anna spits, "Do you seriously believe what this asshole is saying?! He talks nothing but bullshit!"
"I think you'll find I'm not the one talking the crap here Anna." James scoffs, "Why are you so bothered what Vienna thinks of you anyway?"
"You're meant to be my friend Vienna. Why would you believe this idiot over me? Your friend!" Anna screams, "Do you honestly think I would throw myself over someone like that?!"
I'm lost for words as I sit on the edge of my bed, staring up at the neatly made up, well dressed, yet screaming American woman in my face. James is stood not far behind us, holding back Megan who is glaring at Anna. This looks like one of the typical scenes you would find in EastEnders. The Mitchells and the Beale's are going head to head with each other in another dispute over something.
"I didn't say I believed anyone." I timidly admit, "I don't see how this is anything to do with me."
"It isn't anything to do with her. So can you get the fuck out of our flat please?!" Megan yells, releasing herself from James grip and grabbing Anna by the forearm, "Or I will throw you out."
"I said get the hell off me!" Anna yells, and I watch in horror as her fist connects with my best friends face.
Megan's petite body is sent flying to the ground and I wince as her head bounces off my wardrobe, knocking her unconscious. The anxiety has been replaced with pure anger, and in a mad rush of rage I lunge towards Anna, grabbing her by the shoulder and pressing her stick thin body against my door.
"Listen here." I calmly inform her, "I don't know what the fuck has been going on with you and James. What I do know is you have no god damn right to come storming into our flat, throwing your weight around, and you definitely have no right to physically assault my best friend. So if I were you I'd get the hell out of here, because I know Megan will be pressing charges on you and if you don't leave right now, so will I."
"I thought we were friends Vienna!" She screams, tears spewing down her cheeks, "You believed this prick over me! How could you?"
"I believe James now seeing as what you've just done! It proves exactly the kind of sick, twisted bitch you are!" I yell, as I feel a strong set of arms tear me away from Anna. "I'm not bothered where you worked or what happened with either of you two. But involving me in it is so wrong! Involving Megan in it is wrong! If you like James why can't you just admit it? Why do you have to come in here all guns blazing?!"
My eyes turn to Megan who is unconscious in front of my wardrobe. James is gently caressing her head, lightly tapping her on the cheek to see if she'll regain consciousness. I drop down on my knees in front of her and rest her head on my knee.
"The truth is out now Anna." James sighs, stepping towards the sobbing American pressed up against my door, "If you like me just say it, I won't be angry."
Anna suddenly drops to the floor and places her head in her hands. Her sobbing fills the room and James tries his best to comfort her by placing a gentle hand on her arm.
"I love you." She whispers, "I love you so fucking much."
Megan still lies unconscious in my arms. Every second that goes by, my ears are full of Anna's stupidly annoying crying and thoughts that my best friend and I might be taking a second trip to hospital, all within a month.
"You know I don't feel the same Anna." James sympathetically tells her, "It was just a fling, nothing more. You can do so much better than me anyway."
"Oh yeah of course I can. Everyone wants to date the psychotic American girl who's hung up on a Scottish guy." She laughs, tears slowly beginning to clear up around her eyes.
"You're not psychotic Anna. No one thinks that. You're just love-sick and there's nothing-"
Before James has a chance to finish trying to calm down Anna for the umpteenth time, a gentle knock is followed by a woman's voice, informing us all that the police have now arrived. I curse lightly under my breath and begin to shake Megan, who has been unconscious now for about 5 minutes. Anna begins to hyperventilate and although part of me feels sorry for her, as I know myself what its like to panic at such a level, but she hit Megan. She is dead to me.
"Please they can't arrest me. I c-can't go to, j-jail." She stutters, "James, I'm sorry I didn't mean for all this to happen."
"We've had multiple calls complaining of noise, can someone open this door please?" The female officer asks, knocking again on my bedroom door.
"Anna come on, you need to let the police in." James calmly orders Anna, aiding her to her feet.
Megan's body is still laying in my hands and even though I'm practically shaking the life out of her, she's still not waking up. It's scaring the crap out of me. To make things worse Anna is taking half a century to move out of the way, and the knocks are only getting louder and more frequent.
"Megan? Vienna? It's Mr Jacksmith, is everything alright in there?"
"Anna that's the owner of the building, get the fuck out of the way!" I spit.
Part of me is terrified that Anna could flip and turn this minor incident into a massive siege and hold us all hostage. This bitch is absolutely mad so it wouldn't surprise me if she did. The owner of our building is here, and once he sees Megan on the floor, and Anna in her mad state, I'm terrified we'll be out on the streets before I have a chance to argue our case.
Two police officers stroll confidently into our flat, followed by a panic-ridden Mr Jacksmith. He sees Megan on the floor and immediately runs to our aid. Anna is trembling in James arms, but even he knows Anna is about to be arrested. There's not a single chance in hell that I am letting her get away with this.
"What on earth is going on here?" Mr Jacksmith cries, "What happened to Megan?"
A tense silence breaks out and I glare at Anna, who's fear-stricken eyes are fixed on the floor. I swear to God if she doesn't tell the officers what's happened in the next few seconds, I will.
"...I didn't mean to do it." She chokes, "I punched her and she fell against the wardrobe. Honestly that was it."
"So you didn't come bursting into my flat, throwing your weight around and screaming your head off?!" I snap, "Jesus Christ Anna."
"Is this true, miss?" The male police officer asks, as the female office reaches down to inspect Megan's still unconscious body.
"How long has she been like this for?"
"About ten minutes now." I say, tears beginning to form in the corners of my eyes.
"This is officer Bracken we're going to need an Ambulance on the scene as soon as possible." The female office talks into her radio, and informs the receiver of the address of our flat.
"Miss you're going to need to come with us." The male officer orders Anna, tearing her apart from a guilty looking James.
"No please I didn't mean to do it!" Anna cries, "Please you can't do this to me, they'll fire me. I can't lose this job, please!"
"You have the right to remain silent, anything you do say can and will be held in a court of law against you..."
"You'll be fine Anna." James shouts down the hallway, not moving his eyes from Megan's lifeless body.
Anna's pleads soon die out as she is escorted out of my flat, finally. James joins the huddle of people around my best friend, his fingers nervously running though his hair.
"Ambulance is on it's way. Has she shown any signs of waking up at all?" Officer Braken asks.
I shake my head slowly, and place my hand on the back of Megan's head, gently stroking up and down. James rests his head on my shoulder and whispers repeatedly in my ear that things will 'be okay'.
"How do you know that?" I whisper back, turning my face towards him, "She's been out cold for ten minutes, all because of that...thing. This is a new low for both of you I have to admit."
As I move my hand away from the back of Megan's head, a generous amount of blood has stained my fingers.
"She's bleeding!" I choke, "Her head, she's bleeding!"
Very unexpected! Sorry to inform you, but this will be the last update until I get to Edinburgh on Friday, and more importantly if I can get any wifi up there.
I really hate leaving you on such a tense cliffhanger. I'll have to really stop myself from updating because when I've got the free time it's all I do!
