I never thought I would get any sleep and although It took a while for me to fall asleep, I felt so good the next morning. Thank god it was the weekend. I have felt so tired recently. It's hard to fall asleep at night when your parents are yelling and it is hard to not wake up in the morning when they are still yelling. It felt nice to wake up when I wanted, not when my parents wanted to scream in each others faces.
I made the bed and opened my bag, getting clothes out. I had no idea what I was going to do. I pulled out a nirvana tank top and some black skinny jeans and my underwear before walking to the bathroom. I then took a shower and then got ready, doing my make up. I let my hair dry naturally while I got some breakfast. Aunt Louise was sitting at the dinner table when I went through to the kitchen and Calum was still asleep.
"What have you got planned for today?" Louise asked.
"Nothing really...I haven't been here for ages and I don't really know anyone here..." I said.
"I'm going out food shopping and then I am going out to see my friend for lunch so I'll be out" She said.
"Okay" I said, eating my cereal.
"How are you feeling?" She asked me.
"Fine I guess" I said. I wasn't really sure how to feel. I wasn't sure what to tell Aunt Louise when she asked me the question. So I just said that.
"You can tell me anything. You know that, right? I know I haven't been there when I should have been but...from now on, whenever you need me...you can count on me to be here" She said.
I didn't like the attention. It made me feel like there was something wrong with me.
"Thank you" I said. What else could I have said?
I washed my dishes and then went back to the guest room, taking my laptop out of my bag. I started listening to music. It always made me feel better. Like nothing was ever wrong. It's like a whole new world too me...and I can stay there until the song finishes. I never want It to finish.
I was startled when "my" bedroom door opened. It was Calum.
"You just going to stay home?" He asked.
"I suppose so" I said.
"You should come with me. My friends don't bite" He said.
"I don't know..." I said. I was more of a keep to myself person and whenever I have to meet new people, I get really awkward.
"Come on...please...I don't want you to stay home alone all day, I'll feel bad...I won't leave you out or anything" He said.
"Fine" I said. I wanted to ask about who was going to be there but I didn't want Calum to think I was weird.
About half an hour later, Calum came back into the guest room.
"You ready?" He asked.
"Yeah" I said, closing my laptop and getting up. I left the house with Calum and we got in his car."
"I'm picking up my friends Michael and Luke and my girlfriend, Amelia" He said.
"When did you get a girlfriend?" I asked.
"We have been dating for almost a year. I think you will like her" He said.
"Hopefully" I said.
The journey to Michaels was around ten minutes. Michael has bright red hair and it is crazy...but really cool. He sat in the back seat since I was in the front with Cal.
"Is this your cousin?" He asked.
"Yeah this is Aria" Calum said.
"Nice to meet you, Aria" He said.
"Nice to meet you too" I replied, nervous.
The next stop was Luke's house. That took about five minutes.
"Hello" He said to me, smiling. He had blonde hair and a lip piercing...he really suited it. Then we picked up Amelia...I sat in the back so she could sit with Calum. I had to sit in the middle of Michael and Luke and it was awkward. Amelia and Calum were holding hands and laughing in front of us. Reminding me of Dane. What I could of had with Dane.
We drove to an old skate park. It was empty. Calum, Michael and Luke all pulled out their boards and me and Amelia sat beside each other, watching them skate.
"Calum is teaching me but I still suck" Amelia told me, breaking the silence between us.
"I wish I could skate" I said.
"Get one of them to show you" She said.
"No thanks, I think I'll pass" I said. She laughed.
"So your Cal's cousin, yeah?" She asked.
"That's right" I said.
"Calum is amazing. Have you ever heard him singing? It is so beautiful" She said.
Amelia had very light blonde hair and wore winged eyeliner and a deep red beanie with a black crop top and shorts and vans. She was really pretty.
After the boys had their fun skating, we walked around, talking.
"I can't believe she would just do that" Calum said.
"Yeah well...it doesn't matter" Luke said.
I hadn't been listening much but I think they were talking about Luke splitting up with his girlfriend a while ago and how she didn't even seem hurt or seem to care when they fell apart.
I just kept thinking about my parents and Dane. I didn't want to but I couldn't control it. I didn't want to lose them. But I didn't want to get hurt anymore.
"What school do you go to?" Michael asked me, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"What?" I asked.
"What school do you go to?" Michael repeated.
"Oh...I go to Fraylyn (made up)" I said.
"Isn't that the school you are moving too?" Michael asked Luke.
"Yup...I begged to stay here a billion times but apparently the job my dad has now isn't good enough and the one up there pays more...we don't even need more money" Luke said.
"Maybe it won't be so bad" Calum said. His arm was wrapped around Amelia. They were cute.
"It will be bad" He said. He was convinced.
Then we went into Calums car and put loud music on, put our windows down and Calum speeded. It was a lot more fun than what I am used to.
I was still sitting between Michael and Luke and they were both dancing like idiots. It was funny. Then Michael picked up my arms and started shaking them about, making me dance like he was. I started laughing and Michael soon joined in, dropping my arms to hold his stomach.
This was so much fun. For once I had more than one friend...I mean they are my friends, right? I made the most of my day out because I knew it wouldn't happen again. They would all forget about it and I would hold on to it. As usual.
This was different. A big change to my normal life. I kind of liked it.
