The sting in my heart had subsided.
It may be back now and will forever remain, but back then I didn't expect to lose him again.
That night he walked me home. The cold air was nipping at our skin and the streetlights sparkled like stars. The snow crumbled beneath our feet with every step we took. Our arms, locked together like the link in our love and my head leaning against his shoulder like a scene from a portrait. I felt as nervous as if it was the first time I met him, but as happy as ever to be in his presence again.
"Bristol is really pretty at night." Luke said looking at his surroundings. Then he looked at me, "but nothing compared to the sight of you."
I blushed, "stop being so cheesy!" I giggled.
"It's true, I've missed you gorgeous." He squeezed into me.
Then his attention was drawn to my local Starbucks, "hey, why don't we stop for a coffee?" He asked.
I didn't even take the time to consider. I was barley listening to what he said. I was too busy being entranced by his smile. His soft lips grinned from eye to eye and his black lip ring stuck out from the left side of his lower lip. I bit my lip at the thought of pulling on that with my teeth. But Luke was waiting for an answer about the coffee, he could probably tell I wasn't thinking about that. "Yeah," I eventually said. He gave a nod and looked down at my mouth. Then he took a hold of both my hands and pulled me into the café.
He pulled a seat out like a gentleman and I sat in it graciously. He took the seat that was on the opposite side of the table and dragged it round so it was next to mine. I angled my legs so they were closer to his direction. I crossed my left leg over my right. Luke sat down and placed one arm round the back of my chair and the other hand on my thigh.
"So what have you been up to for the past three months?" He asked me. I didn't dare tell him anything he didn't need to know. I just got him back and I wanted to keep the joy for as long as I could.
"Oh, just stuff." I looked down at my fingers. "I spent most of my time trying to get over you."
"Did it work?" He asked nervously.
I looked up at him again and curled the corner of my mouth. "No."
Luke cupped my face in his hand and pressed his forehead against mine. I could feel his breath, it tingled against my skin and sent electricity through my body.
A loud noise came from my back pocket. I sighed and turned around to pull out my phone. Cai was calling me. I pressed ignore, I was too busy with Luke to chat.
When I turned back to Luke he had two coffees on the table, he slid one over to me. "Thank you." I said and blew into the cup to cool it down. "So Luke, how long are you in England for?" I asked.
He took a breath and leaned back in his chair. "I'm going to Scotland tomorrow for a week, then I'll be back in England next Tuesday." He said.
I felt a little disappointed, I just got him back and then I wouldn't see him for another week. I didn't think I could wait that long for him. I took a sip of my coffee. "Well, at least your in the UK, that's a lot closer than before."
Luke nodded, still staring at me. His gaze lifted my heart beat above normality. We finished our coffee and headed for my flat. I gave a quick text to Cai apologising for ignoring her phone call.
We walked up to the steps that led to the flat entrance. I turned to face my tall dream boy. He took a step towards me and planted a kiss on my cheek. I immediately moved my head so my lips met his. His hands came to my waist and our tongues danced. My legs felt so shaky. The taste of his love impulsed into me. I wrapped my arms around the back of his neck and pulled myself in so there was nothing between us, no distance, no spaces. We were one.
I heard Luke escape a soft moan. I wanted to invite him in, to continue further once again. But he pulled away. He let out a breath. "Wow" he exclaimed. I bit my lip, feeling rather proud. Luke took a hold of my hands and kissed each of them. "See you soon, beautiful."
I gave him one last hug and entered the flat. I began to walk up the stairs when I felt another grab of my hand. This one was forceful and tight. If pulled me back and swing me around. I found myself crashing into Luke's strong chest. His arms wrapped round me and squeezed me. "Luke..."
"Come to Scotland with me." I lost my breath. Did I hear that right? "Come away with me." He whispered. The heat from his body had me flustered. "I don't wanna wait another week, nor another day to see you." He then released me and looked me in the eye. "Come away with me." He repeated again.
I searched for the word. I opened my mouth to say it but it wouldn't come out. Luke bit his lip anxiously as I stuttered.
"Luke...Luke I-I..." I closed my eyes and took a breath. "You know I'll go anywhere with you. It's just, such short notice." Luke shook his head and stepped towards me again. He took a hold of my hips and pecked me softly. Once again I was left shaky and venerable to him.
"What about now? He whispered.
I gave up. Oh well. I didn't care about anything anymore. I do what I want. I smiled at him.
