"GO CAI!!!" Ashton cheered as Cai got her third strike in a row. She was an excellent bowler. Ashton began clucking like a turkey, whilst Cai strutted back to the benches with her head held high. I sat on the bench with Michael. We weren't really into the game, mainly because we weren't that good at it.
"What is Ashton doing?" I laughed.
"When you get three strikes in a row its called a turkey, basically, he being an idiot." Michael joked. I giggled and high fived Cai.
"Anna, you're up." Ashton waved me over. I went over to the bowling balls and picked up the lightest one. "Woah, woah, woah. What do you think you're doing?"
I looked at him puzzled. "I'm going to throw this ball down that aisle and maybe hit around 2 pins."
Ashton picked up a big purple ball and took the blue one out my hand. "Use this one." He dropped the ball into my hands. I nearly dropped it, the sudden weight caused me to stumble but Ashton kept my balance.
"It's too heavy!" I complained. But ash just stood back and pointed to the 10 pins. I put my fingers in the holes and supported the bottom with my other hand. I walked up to the aisle and got ready to throw the ball.
"You're stance is all wrong." A voice said. Two strong arms came from behind me one rested on my waist and the other in my right wrist. "Twist your body." He whispered, and pulled me so I was at an angle. He pulled the supporting hand away and the weight of the ball pulled on my fingers. "Swing it back, take a few steps forward and roll it." I did as commanded. I drew the ball behind me, took a little skip up to the line and rolled it as hard as I could. The ball went directly down the middle, then off to the left, then to the right.
"STRIKE!" I heard Michael scream. I heard him and Cai cheering. I turned around with a massive grin on my face.
Then I saw him. He stood there dressed in black jeans with no knees and a Rolling Stones shirt. His black snap back pushed his blond hair back but some strands stuck out in all directions. My grin slid of and my eyes grew wide.
"Luke!" I gasped.
Luke smiled shyly, "nice throw." He said.
I stared at him briefly.
'What should I do? Should I run up and jump in his arms? Should I send him away?'
"Come one, let's get some drinks." He said and started walking towards the bar. I looked at Michael, he twitched his head, signalling me to follow him. Ashton stood there looking slightly shocked.
I Slowly walked up to the bar where Luke was sitting on a bar stool. I just stood by him. "Double vodka and coke please." I asked the bartender. I watch him carefully as he poured my drink.
"So Anna...how've you been?" He asked. I still stared at my beverage. When the bartender passed it to me I quickly grabbed it. Luke furrowed his brows at my suspicious behaviour.
I took a sip of my drink. "I've been excellent." I told him.
"That's good to hear."
"Oh, great, yeah my bands really taken off." He said but he still looked a bit down.
"That's nice. Good for you." It went silent. Luke took his hat off and ran his fingers through his hair.
"Umm,you look amazing by the way..."
"Luke what are you doing here?" My interruption took him by surprise.
He thought for a minute, the silence was painful. "I never got to say goodbye to you." He took a hold of my hand. "And I never want to say goodbye." His hands were rough, not soft like they use to be. This boy had been working hard the past 3 months.
"I said goodbye." I reminded him.
"Yeah but I wish you didn't, I got home expecting to see you there and work things out. But you weren't there, you were gone!" His voice became bubbled, a teardrop fell out his eye. "You left. I don't want to see you leave again."
My heart muscles squeezed. 'No Anna, stay strong.'
"Please, let's just start over." He pleaded.
"Luke, we started over before, it didn't work. What makes you think it will work this time?"
"I don't care how many times we start over and how many fails we have, I'm gonna keep trying. I love you and I mean it! I told you that before, what's it gonna take to have you love me back?" He slammed his fist on the bar top, people started looking at us. Luke just stared at me.
"Luke..." I looked into his ocean blue eyes that seemed luminous through his tears. Every good time we had together came flooding into my mind. At that moment I flung myself over to him and smacked our lips together. Luke squeezed me tight and kissed me hard, as if he was afraid he'd never get another kiss. But I'd give him many more. I pulled my mouth away so I could look at his joy filled eyes. "I love you too!" I said breathlessly. I'll never forget the smile he flashed me when I said that. He squeezed me even tighter and buried his head into my shoulder.
I saw Ashton come to us. He looked rather annoyed. "Well, it looks like Lanna's back." Then he turned and grabbed Cai by the arms and whispered something in her ear. She smiled and they went off somewhere. Ashton looked back at me with hate in his face.
