That night I hardly slept. All I could think about was the next week I was going to spend with Luke in Scotland. It was my home. I was born and raised in Dumfries, from what I remember, it was a very beautiful place.
I packed a small suitcase with my essentials for the weeks. Luke warned me no to bring too many clothes as he was taking me on a shopping spree. I still had to get use to the idea that Luke was a famous rockstar. That little boy from Sydney who was so insecure really had grown into a man since I'd left. You could see in his face, he was more mature, more serious.
Cai was coming as well. Her and Ashton has become really close already. But I was slightly suspicious about Ash. I wasn't sure if he had moved on from what we had a while ago. Whatever it was that was bothering him, I could tell he was up to something. Cai was head over heels for him, I was worried that he would use that to his advantage in some way.
"Oh my Lordy!" Cai screeched. She placed her hand on her hip and grinned. "I knew you knew who they were!" I finally told Cai some of what happened in Sydney. "This is so cute! He came all the way to England to see you!"
"No." I flashed a fake smile. I knew the truth. "He's on tour."
"Still! I bet my left tit he made plans to hunt you down while he was here."
"Well there's no way of proving that, besides it doesn't matter. We're back together now, so the past is in the past."
"The past is where the memories stay. Don't dismiss the past, it's more important than you think."
"Wow you're so deep!"
"You know it, I'm so deep you can't even see me!"
We both laughed and then finished packing our bags. Little did I know that Cai's deep words would mean the most to me in the future.
We all met up at Bristol Airport. Luke had offered to pick me up but I insisted to make my own way there, just in case I changed my mind. When we arrived I saw him standing by the reception desk. His hands were slipped into the two front pockets of his black jeans and he was leaning against the white wall. He was fully dressed in black except for his red plaid shirt that was almost hidden from his black jacket.
I let out a shaky breath and began to walk towards him, trailing my suitcase behind. Before I even got mid way a tall built body blocked my way. I stopped in my tracks with a jolt and before recognising who it was I stuttered out "sorry!"
"My, my, aren't we a bit of a klutz today?" Ashton said with a cheeky grin.
"Oh Ash," I looked around expecting to see Cai right behind me but she wasn't there. "Oh Cai was right behind me she must have popped to the loo or something."
"The loo? As if you couldn't get any more British!" He joked. I cracked a small smile. He took a very small step closer to me. "You uh, you looking forward to the trip?"
"Yeah, yeah I'm really excited." I don't think I said it convincingly enough because Ashton furrowed his brows.
"Hmm, you know, Calum's Scottish."
"What? No he can't be!" I said shocked.
"Well...Scottish decent, from his dad."
"Go figure, we got more in common than I thought." It was such a rubbish joke, but Ashton giggled anyway. I felt awkward talking to him. Mainly because he kept acting weird when Luke and I were together. What was his problem he had Cai.
At that moment Luke and Michael turned up. "Hey beautiful!" Luke squeaked as he embraced into me with a hug. I wrapped my arms around his neck and squeezed into his warm body. I glanced at Ashton who was looking away. Luke ran his hands down my arms and then connected our fingers together. He looked into my eyes with the cheekiest grin. "I have a few surprises for you." He chirped with his nose scrunched up.
"What are they?" I asked with a giggle.
"Can't tell you, you'll have to wait and see." He winked.
I whined and punched him in the arm. He just giggled and went behind me to wrap his arms around you waist and bury his chin into the curve of my neck. A hug from behind had never felt so good.
"Where's Cai?" Michael asked just as Calum approached the group.
"Oh, I seen her in the mini shop about 3 minutes ago." Calum said.
I laughed. "She gets really nervous on planes, she's probably buying boiled sweets and sickness tablets."
"I might wanna join her in that one." Ashton joked. The guys all laughed like men, and there was me giggling like a little girl. "Here she comes." Ashton smirked as Cai walked up to us.
"Sorry, had to prepare myself." Cai put on a fake smile that we could all see through. Ashton hugged her and began whispering something in her ear. Whatever it was, she smiled and looked a lot more relaxed.
Michael and Calum looked at each other. "We're so lonely!" Michael whined.
We got on the plane about an hour later. Luke sat between Michael and I, and Cai sat between Ashton and Calum on the opposite row. The seating was well put as Calum and Michael were on the row seats so they could speak to each other.
"Three seated rows are pointless!" Michael exclaimed. "People rarely travel in threes."
"But if they do the one person would have to sit alone on a two seated row." Calum responded. They got into a debate about the ridiculous subject while Luke and I had a thumb war.
"One, two, three, four, I declare a thumb war, GO!" Luke chanted and we both started wiggling our thumbs around each other's. I couldn't stop giggling. This game was intense.
"Ahh," I screeched as he nearly got me. Then I managed to get my thumb around his and hold it down. "ONE, TWO, THREE! I WIN!" Luke sighed and applauded me. "What's my prize?" I asked getting closer to his lips. Luke smirked and leaned in close to my face. I bit my lip them prepared myself for a kiss. I expected a kiss. But I didn't get one. Instead, Luke just breathed in my face. I felt the warm breeze that smelled like tangy cheese Doritos escape his mouth and blow into me. He giggled as I sat there with a disgusted look on my face.
"Awe I'm sorry babe." He laughed and placed his head on my shoulder. I hugged into him. This was the what I had missed, having fun with Luke and I just messing around.
Michael didn't look too happy though. "See now this is what I mean, on three seaters you have to put up with this! You can't be a third wheel on a two seater."
The journey took less than an hour to get to Glasgow airport. After going through check out I was the first to take a step outside into the cold Scottish breeze. I breathed in through my nose and smiled. It felt good to me home.
Calum had hired a mini bus to drive us around for the next week. We all hopped in with our luggage and set off to our first destination. "You ready for your first surprise?" Luke asked. I nodded quickly.
He flashed me another one of his cheeky grins and wraps a blindfold over my eyes. "Luke, I don't think you realise that the majority of my balance relies on my vision." I joked. But really I hated my eyes being covered so that I couldn't see. I felt weird and self conscious.
Luke held my hand tight. "I got you." I heard him say. I felt the vehicle stop, at first I thought we were at a traffic light but the door slid open. Luke guided me out, or at least tried to. I did trust him, just not like that. I tried to take the blindfold off but Luke stopped me. "No no no, don't you dare take that off!" He demanded while grabbing onto my wrists. I sighed and felt him lift me up out of the bus and then place me firmly on the ground. I let my breath escape. He took a firm hold of my arm and guided me down the pavement. I finally began to trust him and relaxed. That was until something crashed into me.
I stumbled back slightly from the blow of another body colliding into mine and squeezing me. The shock it gave me ran from my head to toes. Luke let go of my arm and I was being hugged by some random person. "Anna!" The person screeched. I recognised the voice, the American accent that belonged to just one. I felt my heart pound as the memories of this girl from my childhood came flooding into thought. I quickly ripped the blindfold from my eyes and was bestowed with my beautiful cousin standing in front of me.
"Oh my god!" I gasped. "Alex! Oh my god!" I ended up screeching and jumping. A few tears filled my eyes. "What are you doing here?" I asked. I had only just noticed the street I was on.
"I've been visiting gran. We got a call last night saying that you might be coming up for a visit." She turned to Luke who was standing with is hands in his pockets shivering. He flashed me a small smile. I bit my lip to hold back to urge to pounce on him. "Come on inside its freezing, and your mums here by the way." As she turned around and started heading for my grandmothers house I broke down in tears. Luke put his arm around me as we followed Alex.
"Thank you, so much." I whispered to him. A drop trickled from my eye and landed on his jacket. Then as I entered the hallway I saw my mother standing in the living room. I ran up and wrapped my arms around her. She held me tight for what seemed like forever.
She pulled back to look at me. Her gentle hand rested on my cold wet cheek. "Oh hen, you're freezing! Come on let's get the kettle on." I took her hand and pulled her to where Luke was standing awkwardly.
"Mum, this is my boyfriend Luke." I said. Luke extended his hand to her. She gave him a dodgy look.
"Young man in this family we do not shake hands." She joked and hugged him. I laughed in embarrassment and walked over to Michael and Calum.
"Where's Cai and Ash?" I asked.
"Don't know, don't care. Who's that girl?" Michael asked pointing into the kitchen where Alex was making the tea with my gran.
I smiled. "That's my cousin, Alex." I told him. I could have sworn I seen a small drop of drool escape his lips.
"Mikey! You're catching flies." Calum laughed.
Michael quickly adjusted himself. "No I'm not! I was just wandering why Anna was so happy to see her that's all." He lied. I glanced over to Alex who was bringing in a tray filled with cups of tea. She rested it down on the coffee table. As she straightened back up she flipped her long wavy brown hair back behind her shoulder causing Michael to nearly stumble back. She looked over to our direction and ran up to the cabinet the Michael had bumped into.
"Careful, these are my grans favourite." She said replacing the mini ornaments.
"S-sorry." Michael stuttered brushing his hand through his platinum blond hair.
I giggled and broke the tension. "Alex this is my friend Michael." Michael went to shake her hand. She nodded at him then turned to Calum, ignoring Michael's gesture. "...and this is Calum."
"Nice to meet you." She said shaking his hand. Michael just stood there awkwardly looking at any other direction. "Michael?"
"Try not to tear the house down." Alex said and walked off. Michael looked so hurt. I laughed into Calum's arm, I really tried to hold it in.
"Oh what's so funny?" Michael asked looking rather annoyed.
I giggled some more. "She likes you." I said seductively and winked. Immediately his eyes trailed off to her while Calum and I broke down in laughter.
I went into the hallway to hang up my coat. At that time Cai and Ash were walking though the front door. Their hair was messed up and they both looked frazzled. My eyes went wide at the sight of them. I heard Calum laughing behind me.
"Oh so that's what you two were doing!" He teased.
Cai blushed with sheer embarrassment but ash just wrapped his arm round her waist and kissed her cheek. "See you in there babe." He made a kissy sound and walked into the living room with Calum. I just stood with my arms crossed, throwing daggers at Cai with my stare.
"Don't look at me like that!" She whined. I couldn't help but crack a smile, then break down in laughter myself. "Fine laugh it up, so what if I shag my boyfriend, someone sue me."
I took her by the arm and dragged her into the living room to join the others. Hopefully my mum hadn't smothered Luke already. I could only imagine him trying to crawl away.
But no. Those two were having laughs and talking like best buds. It seemed my parents liked Luke more than they liked me.
