But why would someone ever cheat on someone they ‘love’? Why? If you aren’t happy why don’t you just leave? It’s so much easier that way. These were the only thoughts that were running through my head for days.
“What are you thinking about?” Violet asked when we were sitting at the beach.
“Ariana.” I answered her truthfully.
“What about her?” She asked.
“I just want to know why she didn’t just leave me if she wasn’t happy. Why did she have to cheat? I wouldn’t have been as hurt if she just told me she didn’t want to be with me.” I said. I knew I shouldn’t be dragging Violet into it but I wasn’t sure who else to talk to. She was the only one who listened when someone had a problem.
“Maybe you should get revenge.” She said shrugging as she read her book.
“Like what?” I asked her.
“Well you have to be seen with someone she hates. Who does she hate?” She asked as she placed the bookmark in her book and placed it on the towel next to her.
“I don’t know.” I said before I even thought about it. “Do you remember that girl back home that I used to be friends with? Danielle?” I asked her and she nodded her head. “I used to like her.” I said.
“Call her up.” Vi said giggling. She loved stuff like this.
“I haven’t talked to her in months. She probably doesn’t want to talk to me.” I said looking over at Daniel and Beau who were building a castle that Violet started but never finished.
“You’ll never know until you try.” She said handing me my phone. “If you don’t do it, I will.” She smiled at me before heading over to Daniel. She sat in his lap while Beau worked on the castle.
“What if she doesn’t like me?” I said outloud. I just wanted someone to make me happy and I knew she made me happy when we were younger.
‘Hey. Is this Danielle?’ I texted the number I had saved as her.
‘Yeah. Who’s this?’ She texted me back almost instantly.
‘It’s Jai.’ I answered her. I could hear her smile through the next text.
‘Hey OMG! How are you?’ She asked.
‘I’m good. How are you?’ I asked her. The conversation went on for hours. It felt right.
My brother have this thing about keeping me happy but they don’t keep themselves happy. I have other people to keep me sane and to keep me happy. They didn’t always have to do it. I could handle myself. I was about to turn 17 and I needed to be able to do some things on my own because eventually they wouldn’t be there to make sure I was alright.
“You alright?” Daniel asked as I sat myself on his lap and I nodded my head.
“Jai is texting a girl and I decided to leave him with his thoughts.” I smiled at him. Beau had left to go and swim with Hazel so it was me and Daniel.
“What do you want for your birthday?” I shrugged. I was already 17 but some other things had popped up so we never did anything but in a few days we have some time off and the boys promised me we would go and do something.
“I kinda want to go to an amusement park.”
“We will have to bring security.” I nodded my head in understanding. I knew we would.
“Want to go on a walk with me?” It was getting late so there wasn’t anyone else here besides us.
“Sure.” He said as we walked down the beach. We walked for a long time before he pulled me behind a rock.
“What are you doing?” I asked him as he held me to the rock and kissed my neck.
“I’m so horny, Baby.” He said and I giggled. I refused to do anything with him while we were sharing a room with my brother. He moved my bottoms to the side before sliding into me.
“Ugh.” I moaned out as quietly as possible. “Hurry up about to blow!” I half shouted half whispered at him. He finished and he put me back down and kissed me once more before we headed back to watch the sunset with everyone else.
“Vi! Go stand over there and I’ll take some pics!” Beau shouted. He just got a new camera and it takes amazing photos. I stood like a star and he took my picture. The next one I stood off to the side with my hair flowing down my back and he mostly got the sunset with me off to the side. Daniel came to join in with me and Beau captured us splashing each other and horsing around. “Let’s head home. We haven’t had dinner and we have a busy day tomorrow.” He said as he carried as much as he could back to the hotel room.
“Are we going out to dinner?” I asked when everyone came into our. Beau nodded his head.
“You get cranky when you don’t eat.” He said as he put on a shirt and a new pair of shorts. “Go put a dress on or something.”
“I didn’t bring any.” I said back as I slipping on a pair of short shorts that had rips in them and one of Daniels shirt.
“Change those shorts.” luke said to me when he glanced over what I was wearing.
“You bought me these. Why should I have to change them?” I asked him crossing my arms.
“Okay, point taken.” He said before I followed him out of the hotel room and down to the steak house on the bottom floor.
“What are you going to get?” Daniel asked me as we sat down and were all looking at the menu.
“Steak.” I answered. “With french fries.” I answered. I loved the food over here, all the food back home made me sick. I was allergic to gluten so being able to get things gluten free here was awesome. Although it was mostly cheese and dairy products that me sick there were simple things that made me sick. It was hard to find food to eat.
“Lets play a game.” Luke said as we sat waiting for our food.
“Like what?” I asked.
“Truth.” My eyes popped out of my head, most of these questions would be toward me and I know they would be.
“Okay.” I said as he laughed and thought of questions to ask.
“Now everyone needs to answer them truthfully. And everyone needs to answer.” I nodded my head as I was nervous about what they were going to ask.
“I’ll ask first.” I said as I already had a question. “How old were you when you first had sex?” I asked. I knew at this table we had all had sex so it should be easy to answer. They all went around the table saying the same age, seventeen. “I was sixteen.” I answered. “I think I win that round.” I laughed. The looks I got from my brother’s looked like they were going to kick my ass and then kill Daniel in the process.
“You sure as hell do not win. I’m going to kick your ass Daniel!” Luke said with gritted teeth.
“At least she is happy. We’ve only done it twice.” Daniel answered. I nodded my head along with him to make it seem not so bad.
“Talk about it later boys.” Beau said trying to calm them down. “My turn.” He said resting his finger on his chin and thought. “What’s the longest you have been in a relationship for?” He asked.
“Almost a year.” I answered proudly. I knew James would win though. He had dated this girl for like three years a few years ago. It was horrible when they broke up and went their separate ways.
“Three!” James answered.
“Two.” Jai answered. He has been with Ariana for a long time but I don’t think it was two years. He had to have been talking about someone else.
“Two!” Luke answered. Him and Hayden had just celebrated their two year anniversary when their little girl was born. It was one of the greatest days of their lives as Luke had put it. Daniel didn’t need to answer since I was hoping I was the longest.
“Two.” He answered and my head snapped to him.
“What?” I asked him. I don’t remember him ever having a girlfriend before me. I was around them all the time.
“We can talk about it later.” He said as the food was brought to our table. I was actually really upset about it. I knew that we had only been dating for a year but he never told me about another girl and he kept her a secret from me even when we were younger. I ate quickly and ignored the questions they all asked and ignored the stares I was getting from Beau. I think he could tell I was hurt and I wanted to leave. Beau had sent me and Daniel up to the room while the rest of them stayed down there so we could talk. “Can we please talk about this?” He asked me when I went into the bathroom and started the shower.
“What is there to talk about? There was a girl before me that you didn’t tell me about and obviously you liked her more than you like me.” I snapped at him.
“That’s not it at all!” He said doing his best to defend himself.
“What is it then?” I asked him.
“I kept her from everyone because I didn’t want to drag anyone down with me.” He said and I let him finish. “She had cancer, there wasn’t a way she was going to survive. I spent every waking minute with her before she died in her sleep on her birthday.” He sighed. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
“I’m sorry.” I said in a small voice and I hugged them.
“They gave her three months to live and she survived the whole year. I was taking what I could get. She lived a happy life.” I couldn’t imagine going through that type of pain. What would I do without Daniel? I would literally lose my mind. From here on out I would hold him a little closer and kiss him a little longer. I would have deeper talks with him and even if I was having a horrible day, I would always make his great because I knew that is what she would want for Daniel and I hope she is happy that it was me.
