4. chapter four
The photo showed the apple tree in the morning light, with mom standing under it picking a really red apple, with the sun shining on her white dress. She was wearing her black hair down, reaching under her shoulders, and you could see only half of her face, but her green eyes were shining. "Beautiful" I say out of breath. I turn to see that Kyle was staringj at the photo, not sure what to say. His smile took over his whole face, and we both start laughing, gently. "This place is magic, Mael. I'm telling you" I stop smiling a second to say "I really want to find this place-mom's place, Kyle." He puts a hand on my shoulder "we will Mael, we will." He was talking to me, but looking straight ahead, through the dirty window over the fields. Later that night I couldn't sleep, so I went over to Kyle's room to see if he couldn't sleep, too. It was 3AM and I found him sitting in his bed with his laptop on his lap. The windows were open, it was really cold, but he didn't seem to bother. I walk over to him and I stop just a second to realize what he's doing. "Kyle that's..." "Our city, google earth" "oh" I wasn't sure what to say-usually 14 years old boys don't use a computer at night to go on...Google earth. Then I suddenly wake up and realize "ooh" I sit next to him. "Before you ask, I didn't find much, hardly anything" he says, not looking away from the screen.
