Trinity sat in her solar. The fire crackled and popped, while she sat staring into it. Her hair was tied into a plait and she was in her braises and shirt. She heard a strong knock on her door and sighed. "Come in" she said.
Into the solar strode her father. He sat beside her and pat her shoulder slightly. "Trinity dear, I would like to talk to you" he spoke gently and fatherly, very different from a normal earl. Trinity looked at him with large eyes, the two golds mixing in the connection between father and daughter. "Go ahead papa" she smiled.
Hugo smiled back at his daughter. She had always called him papa when she was younger, before she could pronounce father. "As you go through life you'll see there is so much that we don't understand" he said quietly to her.
"And the only thing we know is that things don't always go as planned," he continued, "But you'll see everyday that we, your mother, brother and I, will never turn our backs on you, when it seems all your dreams have come undone, we will stand by your side hearts filled with hope and filled with pride."
Trinity sighed. "If there is so much I must be father, can I still just be me, the way I am, can I trust in my own heart papa, or am I just some part of one big plan" she watched him, their eyes still connected before she looked to her lap.
Hugo looked at her, he rubbed her back gently. "Even those who are gone, are with us as we go on, your journey has only begun my dear, tears of pain and tears of joy, one thing nothing can destroy is our pride deep inside our hearts" he said smiling slightly. "All the wisdom to lead, all the courage that you need will be found deep in your heart Trinity"
The 'Rose' sat up and hugged her papa. "Oh papa, thank you, I love you" she smiled. Hugo hugged her back and sighed happily. "I love you too my dear, now get changed, we are all riding into the village soon" he let go of her and left.
Keeping her fathers words in her head, Trinity got changed, ready for the outing.
