It was the week of the party and Ethan informed us about the party he was hosting that Saturday. His eyes met Camille's and I just glared at him from my seat. He turned his attention towards Camille. She looked at me before following Ethan to another area of the floor.
The rest of us had walked to the break room and sat down at our respective tables. "You think this plan is going to work?" Jesy asked me. I nodded, but I too was unsure about the plan. What if Genevieve would show up at the party?
What if things didn't go to plan? What if one of us dies? There were a lot of what ifs and I was just as worried as Jes. Neither of us wanted those what ifs to come true. I glanced over at the table where Camille was sitting with her friends.
She looked at me and I looked away upon hearing their conversation about me. She really acted like she didn't like me. Well, for her, it probably was more difficult to hate me now that she actually had feelings for me.
Saturday finally came and I was getting ready at the office. "You think she got the dress you sent her?" Louis asked me. I ran a hand through my hair and ruffled it before looking at him. "If I see her wearing it tonight, then I would assume so."
"How do you feel?" Jesy asked. She was waiting in the living room, along with Carter. The four of us were going to the party separately. Jesy was going with Carter and I went along with Louis. She was beautiful in the dress that she was wearing.
"Anxious." I said. I was thankful that neither of them asked why. I didn't want to have to explain myself to them. My new girlfriend is going with my ex best friend and my old girlfriend could show up.
We all drove to the venue, entering the ballroom which was already packed with a lot of people. We weren't early, nor were we late. The four of us sat down at a table and from across the room, Camille saw me. I looked away as soon as our food was brought out to us.
God, she looked amazing. I'm glad she wore the dress. I sent her a quick text message about how beautiful she looked. I didn't say any more, but I wanted to take that dress off of her. Music began to play and everyone had gotten up to dance.
Louis and Carter excused themselves from the table. They were going to meet Anderson. Jesy and I stayed at the table as I watched Camille dance with Ethan. They were having small talk. I guess Camille was still distracted because I was there.
I saw her kiss him, but I know it was all part of her plan to distract- Genevieve. I knew as I saw that beautiful lock of brown hair. She always wore a signature green color. Whether it was jewelry or an article clothing, it was her.
Quickly, I left the room. Jesy didn't have to ask me why. She knew. I was waiting in the lobby with my back turned. "I saw Genevieve." I heard Camille's voice.
"I know. I saw her and left before she could spot me." Genevieve and I always had some sort of connection. We could sense if the other person was in the room. It was something that was developed over time. We were so used to being with each other. It was like second nature.
"She has a British accent."
"She grew up in the UK, but moved to France. The accent stuck with her. You look beautiful by the way." Camille and I continued to talk some more until we were interrupted by Anderson. I leaned in and kissed her. I had to let her know that it wasn't good bye, but I didn't have the time to tell her.
I followed Anderson after seeing Camille retreat back to the ballroom. I was told that Ethan had men waiting for us, armed and ready. Everything happened within a blur. Shots were being fired between us and between Ethan's men.
As soon as they had fallen, the lights had turned back on. "Sorry to have alarmed everyone, but the party will resumed in a few moments." Anderson called out the whispering crowd, who were frantic over what had just happened.
Louis and Carter had taken Ethan and Genevieve, but Camille was missing. "Where do you think they might've taken her?" Jesy asked me. We were all running outside. I had an idea, but I wasn't so sure. I told her to go and check the office with Zayn. I told Liam and Niall to check her apartment and make sure they weren't being followed.
They nodded and had gotten in to separate cars. I drove to the agency, thinking that's where they would be. "Carter's been shot." Louis said as I arrived, seeing that Carter was doubled over in pain. "Where did they take her?" I asked.
"They mentioned the pier." he answered. I thanked him and got back in my car. Please still be alive Cam. I need you. I drove as fast as I could to the other side of the city. Why did the pier have to be so far away?
I shouldn't have brought Camille into this. This was all my fault. I couldn't stand to lose another person in my life. I would never be able to live with myself if I did. I needed her. I arrived at the pier, seeing how many men were surrounding the ship.
Damn. I didn't have back up and I knew I wouldn't win, but I had to try. I barged my way in there, only to be beaten. I was shoved into the room and my entire body hit the floor as the door slammed behind me.
"Ah, Harry. How nice of you to join us." Genevieve smiled. I stood and straightened myself out as I looked at her, then looked at Camille. I walked towards her but Genevieve stood in my way. "Get out of my way." I said.
"Is that how you treat a lady Harry?"
"You are nothing to me."
"Then why did you fall for her? What was your reason to be with her? Doesn't she remind you of someone? Like me, perhaps?"
"She's nothing like you." I spat. "She's a good person and she shouldn't be here. She had nothing to do with this."
"I tried to come back for you." she said. I scoffed and rolled my eyes. I told her that she didn't care about me. She brought up the topic of my mother. She knows how to hit my weak points, but talking about my mother didn't weaken me any more.
"Don't hurt her. Just... give me a minute with her." I pleaded. Genevieve rolled her eyes, but she left the room. I knelt before Camille, apologizing to her. "You are not safe and you will never-" The door burst open.
"We have to go. Now!" Louis demanded as he barged in with Jesy. I picked Camille up and carried her out through the back door. I set her in the seat of my car and closed the door. I went around to the other side and started the drive down the seat. "What's happening? We're are we going?"
"We have to hide."
