Calum, surprisingly, had me drive to his house. It sat on top of a small hill at the end of the street, his driveway twisting up a little ways into the woods. The tiny cottage could still be seen through the trees, though. The hill was a pain to drive up.
"My mom's out for a 'mother daughter day' sort of thing. Mali lived a few towns away so she doesn't see her much," Calum explained. "So I figured maybe you could help me with a spell to possibly fix Ashton."
"I thought we tried everything." I pointed out.
"Maybe," he shrugged. "We don't know. We've only ever had this problem one other time with Mali and her fiance."
I paused before speaking again, unsure how Calum would react to my question. "Who was Mali's fiance?"
He stopped walking for a moment. "You don't know him."
"How do you know?"
"The present!" he suddenly gasped, spinning on his heels. "Do you still have it?"
"The...what?" I quizzed.
"Birthday present. The immunity potion," he was talking so fast his words were jumbling together. "Do you have it? It might work. Maybe. I don't know but it's worth a try."
My eyes widened. If we used the immunity potion, it could make him immune to the memory one. That would mean he'd remember his family, but it was worth it, right? Or was that too selfish. My look of shock and excitement began to turn to one of unsureness.
"Wouldn't that mean he'd remember his family?" I questioned. "He didn't want to. That would be selfish of me to make him unhappy for my own happiness."
"He shouldn't have forgotten his own family in the first place," he told me. "Let's go!"
"Bridgette." he barked, pulling me back out of his house and to my car.
The drive to Luke's was fast and silent. Once we pulled in, Calum jumped out of the car, already running inside. That's when I remembered that it could still be in the box under my bed. I opened the door to poke my head out.
"I'm going to check my house!" I called.
I slammed the door, ignoring his protests. He'd probably just tell me the house isn't "safe" or whatever. I'd be fine. So I backed out and went to my old driveway, getting out and sprinting inside, using my old key to unlock the door.
I went straight up the stairs, making sure to shut the door behind me. I sprinted to my room and got down to look under my bed. Sure enough, there was a purple box meant for photos, but held a few things very special and important to me, such as the potion.
"Got it." I smiled to myself, setting the box on the bed as I held the tiny bottle in my hand.
"Bridgette." a very familiar voice said from behind me.
I turned to see Ashton, staring at me with wide eyes like he was scared or lost. "Ashton, what are you doing here? How did you even get- Wait, you talked to-"
"Bridgette!" Jeremy's voice shouted as he leaped out from nowhere, tackling Ashton to the ground.
"Jeremy!" I yelled, getting up to pull him off of Ashton. I set the vile on the end of the bed. "Jeremy, what the hell are you-"
"Bridgette, get to Luke's house." he ordered.
"I promise I'll explain later, just leave!" he yelled, shoving me out of my room as Ashton got off the floor.
"No!" I screamed, stomping my foot like a child. "I'm tired of having secrets kept from me, now tell me what the fuck is going on!"
"Bridgette," Michael said, appearing next to Jeremy. "Listen to your brother."
"Bridgette!" Calum's voice called from downstairs.
"Jeremy, please." I begged.
"Yeah, tell her." Ashton said in a teasing tone as he sat on the edge of my bed.
"Shut it, Irwin," Michael barked at him. "You're not even yourself right now."
"Himself?" I questioned.
Michael looked at me sadly. I knew he wanted to say, "It's not my secret", but he knew better than to say that to me right now.
"Oh, shit!" Calum gasped as he stood at the top of the stairs. "I tried to tell you not to come in here!"
"Why?" I shouted. "Fucking tell me why!"
"Stay with me, Bridgette," Ashton said, his glasses off and his green eyes looking straight into mine. "Be with me. I love you."
"No, you don't." Calum stated, grabbing my arms and trying to pull me away.
I pulled back and walked toward Ashton. I didn't want to leave. I couldn't leave Ashton. I had to stay with him. All that mattered was Ashton.
"Fucking a," Michael groaned, walking toward me and blocking me from Ashton. He turned his head to Jeremy. "Get that vile from-"
"You mean this one?" Ashton asked, a smirk on his perfect face.
"Ashton, stop with this shit," Michael ordered. "You're acting exactly how you did with your family. You can't do this."
"I did it to you." he smiled.
Michael seemed to freeze, his eyes widening. He stopped trying to keep me from Ashton and turned his body to face his friend. "You...w-what?"
"Yeah," Ashton smiled. "You know exactly what I'm talking about."
"You didn't," Michael shook his head. "You wouldn't."
"He's fucking with you, Mikey," Calum told him, his arms securely around my waist to keep me away from Ashton. "You know how he gets when he's like this."
Michael shook his head slightly, balling fists in his hair. "Right," he grumbled, looking up at Ashton. "I've had enough of this."
He stalked toward Ashton and punched him square in the jaw, his head turning before he fell off the bed, unconscious. I struggled harder to get to Ashton. Calum easily held me.
"Give me the potion," Calum ordered, nodding his head to the vile that slipped out of Ashton's grip after he got knocked out. Jeremy bent to pick it up before pulling the cork off. Calum forced my mouth open against my struggling. "Just dump it in."
Jeremy looked at me, his mouth in a thin line, before dumping the contents of the bottle down my throat. The liquid tasted like carbonated chalk. I gagged, holding myself up against Jeremy.
"Water." I wheezed.
Jeremy brought me to the bathroom. I stuck my head under the faucet, gargling multiple times before I was sure the taste was clean from my mouth. I looked at my brother who looked at me with a concerned look.
"Are you alright?" he asked.
"I think so," I replied slowly. "But...what just happened?"
He sighed, shaking his head. "I have no idea."
Jeremy and Ashton both came from nowhere; Michael showed up and Jeremy was fine; Jeremy tackled Ashton for no reason; Ashton talked to me; I was controlled by Ashton. I've never felt more confused in my life.
"What was that back there?" I asked, following Michael into Luke's house. Jeremy told Calum he could borrow his car to take Ashton home - Ashton's car wasn't even in the driveway which left even more questions.
"It's hard to explain." he sighed, waving it off.
"What was what?" Luke asked, appearing in the doorway that led from the hallway to the living room.
"Ashton had an episode again." Michael told him, flopping down on his favorite couch.
"Episode?" I repeated.
"Cooper, it's all very confusing." Michael said, obviously wanting me to drop the conversation. I, however, didn't want to.
"You have to tell me something!" I whined.
"I think you should tell her." Luke shrugged.
Michael glared at Luke. "I think you should shut the fuck up."
"Michael, it's her brother and her boy- uh, boy-ish-friend. Just tell her."
He stared at Luke. "It's. Not. My. Secret."
"But it shouldn't be kept from her." he insisted.
"I can't tell her everything."
"Then just tell me something." I begged.
Michael sighed, closing his eyes. I thought for sure he was just going to go to sleep, but then he continued talking. "We don't know how, but Jeremy died and was revived. He's a ghost now, Bridgette. And Ashton is too."
