The Mirror

A girl finds herself ashamed of the weight she has let herself become and so puts the blame on the mirrors that dominate her life.

1. The Mirror

The reflection I feel is upon another

another that is not myself,

The slim little girl I imagined I was, is hidden up on the thick larder shelf,

Still I feel athletic and powerful

not lazy and undignified,

till I gaze to the glass that reminds me, that I shouldn't have ordered more sauce on the side,

But it's not just the media's influence

convincing me I should be looking like that,

But the constant presence of the mirror,

That chants to me; YOURE FAT!
