An ordinary life? I don't think so..

My name is Betty Sky, a simple 17 year old who prefers to be alone. Maybe its since my parents never pay much attention to me or maybe its from being bullied so much.

All I know is that Arthur, Anthony, and Zack made it their mission to make me have a miserable high school life. Unfortunately they are succeeding.

All I ever wanted is to have a ordinary teenage life, but I guess an ordinary life isn't meant for me.

10. chapter 10.

After eating some pizza, well me eating a few slices and Arthur eating a whole box plus the slices out of my box that I could not eat. I guess I will need to go grocery shopping after all, we decided to get started on some homework and by homework I mean me getting out my books and Arthur lying on the floor looking like he was ready for a nap.

When I thought Arthur had actually fallen asleep I moved over to sit by him.

“Arthur? You up?”

“Arthur?” I poked him with my pencil, eraser end of course.
Still nothing.

I was starting to get annoyed. I did not want Arthur just laying around my house when he specifically said he was coming for help.

I looked over at the clock and I was startled to see it was after five.

“Arthur! Get up or you won’t get any more help!” I shouted. Arthur jumped up and we ended up hitting heads since I was sitting close by. I yelped in pain as I flew backwards from the impact. My hands went to my forehead as it throbbed in pain.

I looked through my hands and saw Arthur in the same position as I am. I guess he really was asleep.

“What the hell Betty?” Arthur shouted angrily at me.

“If you’re not going to at least attempt to do any work then leave. You’re just wasting my time.” I got up and walked to the front door and opened it. I gust of cold, snowy wind came in and I regretted not having a sweater on.

I didn’t shut the door however.

I heard Arthur stand up in the next room and soon enough he was standing by me. I moved out of the way so he could leave but what he did was unexpected. He shut the door and walked back in the living room.

“Let’s get to work Betty.”

I walked back into the living room and saw him lying on his stomach looking at the work in front of him.

I was about to join him when I remembered that we both just hit noggins and we would be in some need of Tylenol. I walked into the bathroom by the kitchen since that’s where all the medicine is kept. No point of keeping band-aids and such on the second floor when it would create too much of a hassle when you actually needed them.

Minutes later I was back in the living room with two water glasses and some the Tylenol bottle.

“Here,” I handed him one of the water glasses and sat across from him. I opened up the
bottle and too pills fell out in my hand. I handed him the bottle and he did the same.
When that was done we got to work, surprisingly.

A few hours passed and I had to admit that I actually did like spending time with Arthur. I would never have thought that in a million years.

We managed to get our weekend homework complete.

“See it’s not that hard Arthur.” I said after we closed our books. I placed mine on

“Well when I pay attention and have tutor like you it’s not. “ Arthur smiled at me and I couldn’t help the blush that appeared from his comment.

“I’m glad to have helped.” I glanced towards the clock and now it’s past nine. “You better get going since it’s getting late out.”

Arthur looked at the clock and nodded.

“Okay, well I guess I will see you on Monday then Betty.” He stood up with his books now in his bag and we walked to the front door.

He opened the front door but before he left he wrapped his arms around my hug. I stood there for a few seconds before wrapping my arms around him.

He pulled away and I had a look of confusion on my face.

“It looked like you needed a hug.” Arthur said while smiling. I closed the door as he left the driveway my smile however, wouldn’t be leaving for awhile.

The next day was one of those boring Sunday’s. I ended up doing no chores, ordering food out but this time to change things up I got Chinese and I watched those old horror movies where you ended up laughing at the so called “monster” because of how costume looked.
Yes it was a boring day, a boring yet good day because I still couldn’t stop my smile.

On Monday I got up earlier since of the snow that now appeared outside. It takes ten extra minutes to and from school because of the wind/snow combination. I really needed my license.

Outside the wind was blowing harshly. Snow was everywhere and was starting to get deep.
That’s what coats and boots are for right?

I managed to get to school, probably with a new cold, and noticed the lack of cars and people around.

Snow day?

That thought was confirmed when I entered the school and no one was seen. Maybe everyone was in class? Highly doubtful since no one really went to class on time.

I walked into Mr. Williams class and he was shocked to see me.

“Betty! What are you doing here? It’s a snow day?”

“Oh? I didn’t know.” I mumbled and shrugged while holding my books awkwardly.

“Well you can join the other students who also showed up in the cafeteria. The heat is not working too well in here. You can work on some homework then leave during lunch if you like.” He smiled at me and I nodded and left.

The cafeteria was empty compared to the usual crowd. Only a few groups of people were scattered variously across the cafeteria most likely kids whose parents would not let them stay home and decided to risk their safety to send them to school.

I found a table that was rows away from everyone else and I sat down. I leaned up against the wall and pulled my coat on my like a blanket and rubbed my hands together to try to get the numbness out.

“Can always count on Betty being at school during a snow storm.” Someone said while chuckling. I glanced up and see Arthur sitting across from me. Wow, two weeks ago he would not be even look at me and now he is talking to me every day basically. Even though someone might be thrilled to have a guy like Arthur around them, I could care less. He was only being nice so he could pass. So why treat him like a friend when in the end he will just abandon me.

It’s not worth the hurt.

I finally nod in response to him and pull out my book “The Reckoning” by Kelley Armstrong. This is one of my favorite books.

As I sit there being cozy and getting into my book Arthur coughed trying to get my attention.

I raised my eyebrow as if to say “What do you need now?”

“I thought that since I’m here and you’re here we could-“

“Hey Arthur! Thank god you’re here! I thought I would be bored to death.” Anthony came trudging in through the cafeteria. When he reached Arthur he finally noticed me.

“Am I interrupting something?” He looked between us.

“Nope.” I mumble hoping he will take Arthur where ever he is going.

“Well actually I was going to ask Betty here for some math help. I’m sure she could help you too.” Wow thanks Arthur for assuming I have no life and that I want to spend all my free time helping people with their homework.

I didn’t get Arthur. What’s his game?

“That actually would be awesome. Mr. Creeper said I need to get my grades up.”

“Mr. Creeper?” I finally said after being quiet for a good amount of time.

“It’s a name some of us use for Mr. Williams.” He explained.

“Ya, I understand that part, but why do you call him that? He seems nice to me.” What does Anthony mean?

“Well-“ He stopped and looked around making sure Mr. Williams was nowhere to be found. “A few years back there was a rumor going around that Mr. Williams raped and killed one of his students. Her name was Ebony or something but she was top of the class. At first it started out with her helping him in class by tutoring students, then by having her stay after school to help him mark. Well days before graduation he had graded her project and requested that she come in to pick it up at his house. She didn’t think anything of it. Well apparently he offered her a drink so she went inside. Then BAM” he smashed his fists on the table “he grabbed her while threatening her with a gun he had stashed. Soon enough he had her in his bed and her clothes weren’t anywhere to be seen as he-“

“Anthony shut it! Stop Scaring Betty.” Arthur said annoyed at his friend.

Anthony looked at me and I nodded as if to say “continue”.

“Well I’ll skip the details on that last part since someone’s scared.” He turned to Arthur who punched him in return. “The girl was never seen again. Story goes that he buried her in his basement.” Anthony crossed his arms over his chest.

“Mr. Williams? Our teacher? He could never do that.” I responded as the story ended.

“Hey I don’t know who I will believe. All I know is that I don’t trust the guy and that you should not get to close. Have you ever wondered why your treated different than everyone else?” Anthony questioned while leaning closer. I shrugged.

“Just watch yourself okay.” Arthur finally spoke while looking at me.

That conversation ended there. Anthony turned to Arthur to chat about some show he saw last night about some jackass.

I continued reading my book but I couldn’t shake the feeling I got from that story. I don’t know what to believe anymore.

First, this is the last chp for the day.
