I was walking down a back street in god knows where. I was in search for some cheap food as I finally had a little bit of money. Someone gave me a $10 bill today, much to my objection. I found a little convenience store and walked in. I purchased some crackers and two bottles of water and left the shop satisfied. As I was strolling I walked past a small alley. As I looked in I noticed a powerpoint. I smiled widely and looked through my backpack for my charger. I plugged it in and switched it on and for once it actually began to charge. I decided that while I waited for my phone to turn on that I wold eat some crackers. I ate around 6 or 7 before I was full. Perks of barely eating for months.
My phone buzzed signalling that it was turning on. I picked it up and read the notifications. I had 27 missed calls, 26 of which were from last month from my dad. The other one was from an unknown number. I had a few messages from dad and I had one from the same unknown number. I unlocked my phone and opened the message from unknown.
Hi Casey. I saw your ad online and saw that you were requesting a job of any kind. I have a job that you might be interested in. I understand that you live on the streets and I am willing to pay to accommodate you and get you some essentials e.g. Clothes, a phone if you are in need of one, shoes etc. If you are interested please ring ASAP and we will discuss a time to meet.
(A/n Kim Davidson is one directions assistant hair and makeup artist but in this she is the publicist xo)
I squealed excitedly and sailed the number. After the 4th ring a lady answered the phone.
"Kim Davidson speaking"
"Hi Kim. My name is Casey Evans. Um I was just calling in regards to a text message I received from you earlier today" I spoke nervously.
"Ah yes. I was hoping we'd hear back from you. Now I'm free in about a half hour. Do you think you could make it here on time?"
"I'm not too sure actually. I have no transport options other than walking so if it isn't overly far I could possibly walk?" I suggested.
"Oh nonsense. I will send my driver out to get you. Were are you sweetie?"
"I'm not sure exactly but there is a little convenience store around the corner and next to it is a hairdresser if that is any help?"
"Is that on parkinson street?" She replied.
"I believe so. I'm in a small alley next to the store and the street sign looks like it says Parkinson. I'm not 100% but I think it is" I said.
"Ah yes I know exactly what you mean. My driver will be there in say, 10-15 minutes"
"Thankyou so much. I will speak to you soon. Bye!" I said smiling.
"Bye dear" she spoke before hanging up. I had 32% battery on my phone. I unplugged it and switched the point off and placed my charger in my bag. I entered the convenience store with my remaining $2.15 in hand. I bought a cheap cloth and some mints. The man at the counter gave me a free brush and hair tie. I thanked him and walked back out to the alley plugging my phone in once more. I took the cloth out of it's wrapping and got one of the bottles of water out. I slowly poured a bit of water onto the cloth and wiped my face, neck, arms, underarms and legs. I put them back into my backpack and put a few mints in my mouth. Then I brushed my hair back into a ponytail and secured it with the hair tie. About two minutes later a black SUV pulled up and a man in a suit stepped out from the drivers seat.
"Are you Casey Evans?" He asked.
"This is she" I replied.
"Great. Mrs Davidson has requested that I pick you up and bring you to her office"
I nodded and grabbed my phone and charger before walking towards the car. He opened the door for me and I slid in and placed my seatbelt on. He played some music and within 10 minutes we were at a fancy looking building. The driver opened my door and I stepped out, looking up at the huge building.
"Right this way Madame" he spoke politely, leading me inside. I suddenly felt out of place. Here I was in a stunning, elegant workplace whilst wearing stained oversized clothes and I haven't showered for weeks. I could feel people judging me but I was to anxious to care. A young looking lady walked out and looked around.
"Casey? Casey Evans?" She spoke.
I stood and walked towards her and introduced my self.
"Hi I'm Casey" I said shaking her hand.
"I'm Jill, kims assistant. Right this way" she said guiding me to an office.
She gestured for me to go inside. I slowly walked in and stood in front of her desk.
"You must be Casey. Lovely to meet you Hun. I'm Kim, publicist of One direction. Have you heard of them? She asked.
"I can't say I have. I could've but I don't recall the name" I admitted.
"That's fine. Take a seat, make yourself comfortable. Would you like a drink? Water? Coffe? Tea?" She offered.
"Oh no I'm fine Thankyou. I have a bottle of water in my bag" I smiled.
"Okay so I'm going to get straight to the point. I will pay for a whole new wardrobe, i will pay for you to get your hair done however you would like. I'll even pay for an apartment for you to live in, plus one MILLION dollars payment and all you have to do is be someone's fake boyfriend for a month." She stated. My mouth fell open.
"OMG. Are you serious?! That's amazing!" I replied.
"So what do you think?" She began, "are you interested?"
"Wait. What's the catch?"
"The only negatives are that the guy I'm going to set you up with won't know you're faking it and because he is in a world famous band, the fans can be rather harsh. But other than that I promise you that there is no catch" she spoke sincerely.
"And what happens if he doesn't like me?" I asked.
"If that happens then you can keep everything including the apartment and I will give you $5000 so that you can get a job and get your life on track" she informed.
"When would I start?" I asked.
"Well you could start today if you want? Then tomorrow I can send some stylists to go take you shopping and then we are having an album release party so you could 'bump into him' there" she spoke in all seriousness.
I paused for a second.
"Where do I sign?" I smiled and she pulled out the paperwork.
