"Don't worry." He said with a slight smile on his freckled face. "I don't want to be like that, I refuse to be like that, I wanna help you."
"Help me with what?" I asked.
"My kind can sense you, Im Happy I found you first."
"What would of happened if you didn't find me first?" I asked.
"A blood bath. My kind is brutal and I just can't stand it anymore."
"And how do you intend to help me?" I asked looking up at him.
"I can defend you." He answered.
"Is there any way I can defend myself?" I asked.
"If you knew what they looked like you could dream about them and do something but as you don't then your stuck. As well as the fact that if they where coming at you falling to sleep isn't that easy."
"What if it isn't exactly falling to sleep but the power of my mind?" I asked.
"I don't know." He replied. "Maybe, I don't really know much about you seeing as Im made by the enemy."
"We'll see." I said to him.
"So when they find me what are you gonna do?" I asked Harrison.
"I'm gonna defend you. We can't hurt our own kind." I nodded and laid back down.
I closed my eyes.
"I thought you said you where helping me?!" I shouted.
"Yeah well I lied." Harrison told me.
"You really wanna do this?" I asked him.
"There's something I didn't tell you." Harrison smiled. "We feed off your kinds blood."
"It was a dream, just a dream." I told myself.
"A five second dream. You just closed your eyes."
"What? I feel like I've been sleeping for ages."
"Well the time hasn't changed." He told me looking at his battered watch.
"Do you..." I started. He looked at me as if to say 'go on'. "Do you feed off my kinds blood?"
".....Yeah." There was silence. "We're not vampires. It's what my kind does as victory."
"That's sick." I said.
"Another reason why I left." He told me. "How did you know?"
"It was when I closed my eyes. You where betraying me and still on their side. You then laughed and told me that you feed off my kinds blood." Harrison looked worried. "What is it?"
"There close. You only know more things when they're close." I picked up my things. "What are you doing?" Harrison asked comfused.
"Moving, if they're coming I'm leaving." I told him.
"But they can sense you." He told me.
"Then they'll have to catch me." I told him. I started walking off.
"Stop." He said as he grabbed my arm. "There's no point in moving. They've already found us."
"What?" I asked comfused.
"They're just waiting for the right time to come out." He told me as he looked into my eyes. He wasn't lying.
It was getting dark, I needed sleep. I knew it wasn't the greatest of ideas to sleep but I couldn't stay awake any longer. I was out like a light. I was worried about what I was going to dream. Then it happened.
I saw a face, staring at me. Blood was dripping from their mouth. Their eyes, black- just like Harrison's. Their face was scratched and scared. I was suddenly grabbed from behind. Dug into my flesh, a knife, going down my back. I couldn't control the dream, unlike usual. I couldn't control my actions. Why?
"Wake up." I heard Harrison's voice say as he shook me.
"What?" I asked trying to open my eyes.
"What happened in your dream?" He said looking down at my back. I sat up. "Ah."
"What happened?" He asked again.
"Um..." I started holding my head. "There was a guy with blood dripping for his mouth, staring at me. I was suddenly grabbed from behind and they did this to me." I said looking at my scarred back. "The weird thing is is that I couldn't control my actions like I normally can."
"That's them." Harrison said worried. "They have a way of getting inside your head."
"What, So now I have to be scared of every time I fall to sleep?" I asked.
"I'm sorry. I...I don't know." He said dimly.
"How did I become this? My parents aren't like this, I would know."
"It picks very few people out at random, children that have the worst dreams."
"And how do you get picked?" I asked.
"Shh." I quickly stopped him from talking. "Someones here." I looked at Harrison. His eyes where black. "You alright?" I asked him shaking his shoulder. No response. I waved my hand in front of his face. Still nothing. It must be them doing this- I told myself. Harrison suddenly turned to face me, still sitting down. "Can you hear me?" I asked him.
"RUN." He suddenly said. I wasn't waiting around to see what happens. I made a run for it trying to ignore the pain of my back.
I gained speed, quickly. I've never run that fast before, must be because I was thinking about running fast. I dodged each tree in front of me, not looking behind me. I didn't want to know what would happen if they found me, that's if they're real. They must be, mustn't they? It is a lot to take in but I'm always open to everything. Once I got a stitch I slowed down. I was dreading looking behind me. The corner of my eye. Harrison? He was running towards me, trying to catch up. "What was that all about?" I asked as he got closer. He slowed down before he crashed into me. As he got his breath back he started to talk. "I just needed you to believe."
"What?" I asked puzzled. A slight smile came to his face. His eyes, black again. "What's with you?" I asked.
"This." I suddenly fell to the floor. I passed out.....well kind of. I could still hear everything he was saying- and the others.
"I've done as you said." Harrison said to them as they approached. They smiled. "Well done." Another voice said.
"What now?" Harrison asked.
"You lied to her?"
"Yes." Harrison answered losing patience.
"Your so stupid!" Another voice shouted at him. In my head I could just picture a scar running down Harrison's arm, I didn't know it was gonna happen. "She's sleeping." The same guy continued. "And she knows that you where against her this whole time. Good luck dying."
"Ah." Harrison said as he felt the scar.
"What the fuck?" Harrison shouted. "How was I supposed to know what to do? You weren't exactly helping me, where you?" They just left. Harrison was just standing there. I silently woke up and stood up, waiting for Harrison to realise. I ran up to him and punched him in the face. "Oh look, your awake."
"I thought you wanted to change."
"You can never change." He answered. "Now. Now I have a problem."
He paused. "What to do with you?" He asked himself. I could feel my eyes go red. I thought of an arrow darting towards him. It missed. "Turns out I'm just like you, there's just more to me than there is you." I told him. "You where gonna find out eventually." He told me angrily. Be quickly got out his mobile. "What you doing?" I asked suspiciously.
"Hello police? Yeah, I know where Alice Oswald is." I ran up to him and kicked him in the back. "She's attacking me. We are in the wooded area of Shallow river. Thanks" I tried to take the phone off of him but it was to late. "Happy?" He asked sarcastically. "You can either come with me or try and get your way out of that. Who's gonna believe your story anyway?"
"Fine." I answered. "Just don't think I'm not gonna try and escape."
"I already knew that." He told me just before he grabbed my wrist.
"So where are we going?" I asked.
"Somewhere you don't wanna go." He answered plainly. I quickly kicked his leg, he fell over. I sprinted passed him, getting as far ahead as possible...until I looked around me. I stared at them all with there guns. "Come on then! Try, try and kill me."
"We don't want to kill you." One man said.
"I know that, but don't tell me your not scared." I quickly got pounced on. Harrison. He grabbed my throat. "I told you. Don't try and escape, just makes things worse for you." I stared at him, then at everyone else. "I know you have some friends you wanna talk to at the moment by I don't give a shit. I don't care what they try and do, I don't care if they live or die." I heard a gun get fired. The bullet that go shot was a tranquilliser. He caught it in his hand. "You really think that's gonna stop me?" He threw it back, that person was out like a light.
"What are you?" One man asked.
"Someone you don't wanna see again." Harrison got up. I let him get a few feet away from me before I ran in the other direction. "For fuck sake!" I heard Harrison shout before I felt like I was being strangled. Loads of bullets where suddenly fired at Harrison. One hit him. One hit me.
