Chapter Twenty Two
*3 Months Later*
I smile to myself as I zip up my last bag and let out a relieved sigh. I am finally done packing all of my belongings and am ready to leave for college first thing tomorrow morning. All is packed, but my maroon dress and nude heels.
Today is Harry and I’s three month anniversary since finally becoming a couple and Harry being Harry wanted to go out to celebrate tonight. Strangely enough we both got accepted into NYU and tomorrow we start our lives together as a college couple.
I’m nervous yet excited to finally leave the place I’ve been calling my home for the last eighteen years.
“Anybody home?” A female voice calls through my empty house and I grin ear to ear as I shout back;
“In my bedroom Willow!” Soon enough I hear footsteps coming up the stairs and a now red headed Willow and Niall enter my bedroom, hand-in-hand.
“You know, I still can’t believe you two are actually dating. Who would’ve thought?” I joke and Niall smiles an uncomfortable smile, while Willow just let’s go of his hand to sit on my naked bed.
“What I can’t believe is that you’re moving to New York in 24 hours! It’s all so surreal.” Willow tells me and plays with the zips on my bags. I shake my head and laugh.
“It’s still amazing how Harry got in.” Niall adds and I shoot him a playful glare and he returns it with a fake offended look.
“Never mind that, it’s a freaking miracle he graduated!” Willow says and I roll my eyes and leave to the bathroom where I had left my phone.
When I pick the device up, I take note of the new missed call and quickly dial the number back.
“London, hey babe.” Harry.
“Hi, you called?” I decide to get straight to the point and make my way back into my bedroom occupied by boxes and Willow and Niall.
“Yeah, I was wondering if maybe tonight we can make it a reservation for ten instead of two?” He asks, nervous . I frown at the request and question him on it.
“Why? I thought it’s going to be just us? For our anniversary?”
“That was the plan, but I had an idea that we just invite all of our friends and it could be kind of a goodbye thing before we leave tomorrow?” Instantly a smile is on my face and I can’t help but gush at his thoughtful idea.
“That actually sounds much better than just us.” I tell him with a grin. Not long after we say our goodbyes, I hang up the call. Willow and Niall are both looking at me with etched eyebrows and quizzical expressions.
“Looks like you guys will be joining us tonight!” I tell them excitedly.
*3 Hours Later*
My hands flatten down the soft maroon material of my dress as I look in my full-length mirror. I’ve just finished getting ready for tonight. I picked my new maroon lace dress that comes to right above my knee with some nude heels and I curled my hair for a change.
My makeup is light, consisting of peach lip gloss, under eyeliner, two rough coats of mascara and a light brown on my eyelid.
My doorbell goes off just as I put on my second heel and I check my appearance one last time before grabbing my nude colored clutch.
“You look beautiful.” Harry tells me once we get into his sleek black vehicle.
We slowly make our way out of my new driveway and I can’t help but compare this new house to my old one, the one with the bad memories.
About a week after graduation, my mother finally built up the courage to leave my father and she moved us into a new house in a small suburban neighbourhood.
“Thanks.” I mumble softly and lean down to fasten the straps of my heels and Harry chuckles at the move and I glare at him.
“4 Months and you still can’t wear shoes without those damn straps?” He shakes his head and presses on the gas, speeding through an orange light.
“Don’t be mean.” I pout and fold my arms across my chest. Harry looks over at me briefly to see my reaction.
“Ah, did I offend you, Baby?” He asks and flicks my bottom lip, creating a ‘pop’ sound as it slaps against my upper lip.
“Whatever.” I say and reach over to open the door once we pull up into the parking lot of Breadstix, the best restaurant in town.
Before I can even step out of the car, Harry pulls on my wrist and I turn my head to look at him, he has a sincere smile on his face and he leans in to plant a kiss on my cheek before saying; “I love you.”
As we walk in through the glass doors of the place, I spot Perrie’s strawberry Blonde instantly and let go of Harry’s hand to speed walk over to our large table and group of friends.
“London!” River spots me and shrieks as she runs up to me with open arms. I laugh and wrap my arms around her shoulders hugging her tight. River and I have become quite close the last few months, along with me and the rest of Harry’s close friends.
“How are you, darling?” She asks into my ear and we let go of each other so I can look her in the face when replying to her question.
“I’m actually pretty great. How about you?” I ask her and we take our seats at the oversized table, but not too big.
“Good thanks!” She beams and takes the seat next to me, with Harry on my left.
“So London, Harry. College!” Louis asks us halfway through our dinner, his arm around Eleanor as he sips his beer. My mouth being full at the moment with pasta, I let Harry reply him.
“Yeah College.” Harry rubs his neck and looks down at his plate. I don’t question his weird behavior and continue chewing on the good food.
Dinner wraps up pretty quickly and by the time Harry and I walk into my house, it’s just around 11pm.
“Mom?!” I call through the dark house.
“She must not be home.” Harry says and flips on the light switch while I look around the bottom floor.
“Yeah, probably a late shift at the hospital.” I shrug and reach down to take off my shoes from my aching feet.
“You tired?” Harry asks me. I shake my head and start to head up the stairs, with Harry trailing behind me.
“How was the night for you?” Harry asks as we enter my room and he closes the door behind me. I walk over to my dressing table and begin taking out my earrings as I reply to Harry’s question;
“It was great. Was lovely seeing Eleanor and everyone.” I smile to him in the reflection of the mirror and he winks before falling back first onto my bed.
A short while after graduation, my mother finally built up the courage to leave my father and we got a big enough house for the two of us in a small suburban neigbourhood close to my mother’s work so she usually just walks to work and catches a ride home.
“Hmmhm.” He mumbles as he scrolls through my phone. I place my earrings on the table and walk out of my room to the bathroom across the hallway. I close the door behind me and quickly take off my makeup and wash my face.
When I return to my room less than 3 minutes later, I am confused as to why it is empty.
I furrow my eyebrows and walk over to my bed, where my cell phone is lying face-up on the mattress. I pick the device up and my heart nearly falls to the ground when I see the open messages on my phone.
“Harry!” I call and throw the phone on my bed, my feet bolting me out of the room and after Harry, who I hope is still here.
“Harry!” I hear London calling my name and I nearly run up the stairs to check up on her to make sure she’s fine, but the pain that I felt just a few seconds ago returns and I shake my head and reach for the knob on the front door right when a hand rests on my shoulder. I try shaking her touch off of me, but she grabs my elbow and with much force turns me to face her.
Her makeup is now off and I want to tell her how she doesn’t need that shit, how’s she’s fucking beautiful without it, but restrain myself from doing so when the messages flash through my memories;
I can’t wait to finally talk face to face with you.
You and me both. It’s hard doing this via text messages.
“It’s not what you think, Harry.” London pulls me from my thoughts of ripping someone who I’ve never even seen in my life’s head from his fucking body for talking to my girl.
“Like hell it is,” I growl and she sighs and grabs my face in her hands, holding my head still.
“It’s not. Let me explain, please,” She looks into my eyes and I can’t help but cave as she looks at me with pleading eyes. I pull her hands from my face and walk past her and up the stairs.
When we re-enter her bedroom again, I stand with my arms folded by the wall across from her bed and wait for her to begin explaining why the fuck she was talking to another guy about ‘meeting up’.
“His name is Ethan,” She says and sits on the bed. I scoff and uncross my arms. “He’s one of the professors at NYU and we were discussing one of the classes I will be signing up for.” She tells me. I feel my anger start to diminish by an ounce as she explains the messages on her phone.
“Well that still doesn’t explain why you’re so damn excited to see the fucker.” I roll my eyes and she laughs. She actually laughs at me.
“Harry, am I sensing jealousy from your part?” She rises from her spot on the bed and I widen my eyes.
“What? No. Of course not.” I cross my arms once more when she comes to stop in front of me.
“Then why do I get the feeling that you are?” She raises an eyebrow to me and I turn my head to the side to avoid her gaze, but she’s too quick for me and once more grabs a hold of my face so that I am forced to look into her eyes.
“Harry, I love you. Only you. Okay? You need to understand that. I’d pick you over a sexy professor any day.” She giggles and I roll my eyes but nonetheless place my hands on her hips and pull her closer to me.
“it’s true,” She whispers and kisses me on the lips softly. I playfully bite her bottom lip as she pulls away. “I do love you.” She repeats and I connect our lips. She pulls back and chuckles, “Besides, he’s married so I lost my chances there.” I shake my head and laugh at her before crashing my lips back down on her hers.
“Good,” I mumble between laps of her tongue over mine. “Because I love you quite a lot.” My hands roam down her body to just under her bum and I lift her swiftly, wrapping her thighs around my waist.
Her hands go to my shoulders for support and I break our lips for a mere two seconds to rip my shirt in two and she removes the torn material to mindlessly toss it to the ground.
The hem of her dress rises as she rubs herself against me and I groan. “Let’s get this dress of you, yeah?” I disconnect our lips to catch her nodding her head and I put her on the ground softly. Her hands immediately move to the bottom of the dress. I help her in ridding her body from the dress and gasp at the sight of her lacey underwear.
“Fuck.” My cock twitches just at the sight of her half naked body in front of mine and I almost don’t notice her fingers reaching for the buttons to my pants and I stop her right before the clothing falls to the ground.
“Are you sure about this?” I ask her, tilting her chin so she can look me in the eye. “Once we do this, that’s it. You can’t go back.” She nods her head and kisses me quickly.
“I’m sure about this, Harry. I’m ready for you to make love to me.” Her words are all the convincing I need and I push her onto the bed.
“London, baby you have to wake up.” I groan at the irritation and turn my body to the side to rid myself from the voice, but the intense pain in my lower region gives me other ideas and the memories of last night flood through my memories. I can’t even try and help the smile on my face.
“What time is it?” I ask and with much effort lift myself from the bed.
“Past noon. I’ve already got the bags in the car.” Harry says and walks over to aid me in standing up. “The pain will fade away in a few minutes.” He smirks. I swat him on the arm and lean to give him a kiss on the cheek. He gives me a half smile and I take note of how distracted he looks.
“You okay?” I ask.
“Yeah! You’re mom’s downstairs. And Willow and Niall.” He says and leads me down the stairs. When I see my mother at the foot of the stairs with tears in her green eyes, I want I myself want to cry, but refrain from the act and just wrap my arms around her shoulders.
“Don’t cry mum, I’ll be back in three months for break.” I chuckle and she nods her head pulls away. She frantically wipes at her tears.
“You’re right, you’re right. I’m just being silly.” I smile at the woman who gave birth to me and hug her once more before moving on to Willow. She smirks at me and I fall into her arms.
“Well come on don’t get me all teary eyed. I’ll be up there with you next semester.” She laughs and I do along with her. That’s right, she applied shortly after me and was confirmed that she could start next semester.
“Bye guys.” I wave for the last time and Harry takes off down the road on our way to our future.
-At the College-
“We’re here.” Harry’s voice brings me out of my nap and I sit up in my seat to see that we are in fact here. I slept through the plane ride and the car ride as well.
I climb out of the car along with Harry and open up the trunk of his car. My eyes furrow.
“Harry, where are your bags?” I ask him. He takes in a breath and reaches for my bag, but I stop him. “Hey, tell me what’s going on.” I don’t need him to tell me though, I already do know.
“London, don’t make this more difficult for me than it already is.” Harry bows his head down and I smack him on the shoulder. I can’t help my emotions. Does he really think that he’s just going to leave me here?
“Make what difficult? Where is all of your stuff?” My voice raises and he flinches.
“I’m not coming with you, London.” He mumbles and my jaw drops as my thoughts are confirmed. He’s leaving me.
“So what then? You use me for my virginity just so you can ship me off to college? Is that it?” I ask him and stop him once more from taking my bag out of the back of the car.
“No of course not! I love you London, so fucking much and that’s why I’m doing this.” He says. I shake my head and take a step back.
“I can’t believe you’re doing this to me. Again,” I say.
“I love you so much.” He whispers and I shake my head.
“Then stay with me! Don’t go Harry. Please don’t go.” Tears start forming in my eyes and Harry instantly wraps his arms around my shoulder. I shake in his hold as I cry.
“I have to let you go baby.” He kisses my head once I’ve finally stopped wiggling. “ I need to figure some things out and I need to do it alone.” I shake at his words and pull away from his embrace so that I can look into his eyes.
“I’ll come with you. We can just hold off on college till next year and re-enroll or something and we can-“
“London, I’m not letting you lose out on one of the best experiences in life for me. This isn’t forever, okay?” He tells me while holding my face in his hands, his thumbs rubbing gently against my jaws.
“No, please Harry I-“
“I love you so much, London. Six months ago I would have gladly agreed and dragged you off with me, because I used to be the only one that mattered to me, but London Collins you’ve changed that. All I care about now, the only person in this world that I want to be happy, is you.” He tells me, “I love you too much to let you hold off on college for me.”
“I just can’t picture doing this without you.” I say and look down at the ground, still not believing he’s leaving me here.
“I know, baby.”
“Just promise you’ll come back for me, when you figure everything out?” I ask him with my last hope. He moves hair from my face and kisses my forehead.
