I groan and toss my phone onto the bed, watching it bounce twice before landing on my pillow. I take a deep breath and run a hand through my hair, wondering where Harry was and what the hell Niall was up to that was so important that theY couldn’t pick up their damn phones when I need them.
As I walk around my bed and to the suitcase which I have packed up on the floor full of clothes and the essentials, toothbrush, hairbrush, makeup, shower gels, pads and my PDSD medication from when I was younger. My breathing completely stops when I hear footsteps coming up the stairs, my heart pounding in my chest when the sound gets closer to my bedroom at the end of the hall.
I was almost certain that my father had a stakeout on some drug deal and my mother had a night shift at the hospital. My thoughts of who it could be stop completely when my doorknob turns and the door swings open and brown boots walk in.
“Hello, love.” A man with blue eyes says, a smirk playing on his lips. My eyes widen and he takes a step closer, “Want to tell me where your little boyfriend is?” He asks, looking directly down at me. This instantly triggers a memory in my mind and I remember him as the guy who came to visit Harry last night. I only caught a millisecond glimpse of the man, but it was definitely him.
“I-I don’t know.” I stutter and stand up from where I’m crouched down on the floor, standing right in front of him now. “I’ve been t-trying to get a hold of him for hours.” I inform him. He nods his head and smiles.
“Well, just tell him that Louis was looking for him and not to forget about our little… agreement.” He winks and turns his back to me, starting to make his way back to the door, most likely to leave but I stop him right before he leaves the room.
“Wait!” I rush and he swifts around, looking at me surprised. I take a long breath and make eye contact with him.
“What agreement?” I ask and he bites his lip as if contemplating what to say, something that Harry is quite familiar with doing as well. He looks out the window for a second before turning back to me and brushing hair out of his face.
“I don’t think I’m supposed to tell,” He said and took a step closer to me, “just know, he’s doing it for you.” Those are his last words before leaving and giving me a puzzled mind, wondering what the hell he was talking about. My quizzical mind comes to a halt when I hear the tone of my cell phone ringing. I rush over to my bed and pick it up, seeing that it was Harry finally returning my calls. I press the green button and hold the phone up to my ear.
“We have to talk.” I cut him off.
I sit down by the table I spotted Harry sitting at the minute I walked into the bar and he smiles nervously at me as I take my seat, putting my bag on the table and clasping my hands together. He takes a sip of the coffee he has and opens his mouth to speak, but I interrupt him, getting straight to the point.
“Who is Louis and what agreement do you have with him?” I blurt. Harry’s eyes widen after a few moments after realizing what exactly I just said. I watch his adams apple grow and shrink as he gulps and bites his lip, reminding me of Louis today. A look of worry passes over his features and he sits up straight.
“Look, London. This stuff is serious okay? I can’t have you involved in it, it’s dangero-“
“I’m already!-“ I stop talking when I notice just how loud I just spoke and lower my voice “I’m already involved, Harry. He came to my house tonight.” I say and his eyes grow the size of saucers as I tell him about Louis’ little visit.
“He what?” He looks distressed and I roll my eyes.
“He asked me where you were and I told him I didn’t know –which I didn’t, because you weren’t returning my calls- then he said to tell you that you shouldn’t forget about your agreement.” I explain and Harry growls under his breath, looking down at the now empty coffee mug sitting in front of him on the table.
“And then when I asked him about it he said that all I have to know is that you’re doing this for me,” I lean forward in my chair and narrow my eyes at Harry, “so I’m asking you again, what agreement?” I ask and watch as Harry’s pink tongue darts out of from his lips and swipe it across his bottom lip.
“You have to understand that after I tell you, everything changes. Are you sure you want to know?” He asks me. I take a few seconds to think it through. A part of me doesn’t want to know, knowing it will all change, but the other part of me, my heart needs to know, I can’t live with the fear of Harry keeping things from me. Especially not if he’s getting hurt through it. So I take a shaky breath and look up at him, my eyes full of determination.
“I want to know.” I say and wait for Harry to start explaining.
“Well, last year a couple of friends of mine and I went to Boston. Some trip that River arranged, she was visiting her parents or something. Anyway one night we were all walking in the street and River spotted a Liquor store that she swore she knew her way in and out of. So I told her that I’d go in with her. Little did we know that we weren’t the only one in the streets that night,” He says and picked at his fingernails “You see when we got out of the store, we saw that someone had spotted us. We bailed pretty quickly, but with Liam and his connections he found out that the man was going to testify against us, because apparently the store owner reported a break in. of course we couldn’t allow that, because then we’d all be behind bars. So we had to… Do some things and he was unable to testify. His brother, Stone found his dead body in his apartment… Along with the guy that we hired to have him killed. He tortured the truth out of him and eventually ratted us out. For some reason though, Stone kept quite. We first thought he was afraid, but then when one of guys lost his girl’s because of Stone, we knew he was out for revenge. We left a couple of days after. When we got back, our guy who lost the girl parted ways with us. First all we thought was that he was done with the lifestyle, but then we found out that he went to work for Stone who then formed his own gang. Now a couple of weeks ago, when River returned I was informed that Stone was coming here. In two days time and we just need to be ready for a fight.” He took a final breath and looked up into my eyes. After a couple of silent minutes, I finally spoke up.
“What does Louis have to do with this?” I ask. He sighs and rubs his temples before continuing.
“The guys who lost his girl, was Louis. He lost Eleanor, because Stone told her that Louis had killed his brother. She believed him and was too scared to stay with him so she took off, but what Eleanor didn’t know was that Louis was going to propose to her the weekend we got back. When she left him… He was devastated, London. He barely talked or ate. He was there, but not really you know?” I nod my head and motion for him to continue “Well when we got back, he ran into Eleanor… Who was with another guy, Louis of course didn’t know it was just her cousin. So he split, left and joined Stone. I only found out yesterday that he joined so he could get back at Stone. I wasn’t sure if I trusted him at first, but after explaining everything to me. I could tell he was sincere. So we started a plan.” He shrugs and I’m sure my head was about to explode with all this new information being dawned on me.
“And the plan?”
“Well basically, I don’t want you involved with this shit and even though Louis isn’t with El anymore, he still needs to look out for her. So we had this plan.”
“Get on with it Harry.” I sigh and he smirks, but continue nonetheless.
“The plan was to get you, Lux and Eleanor together in a safe place. We were thinking the cabin that my uncle owns. Not too far away, but also very off the radar. No one will look for you there. The idea was to plan a night out of town, Louis and I will pretend to leave and get gas or whatever and whilst you’re there, we leave and fight for our lives. That’s it. Everything.” He chuckles and I raise an eyebrow, how can he be so nonchalant about this?
“What do you mean by fighting for your lives, Harry?” I ask slowly.
“Well, we’re only seven people against a whole gang. We’ll have to fight with everything we’ve got if we want to get out alive.” He says.
“Wait. Who are the seven people?” I ask, knowing already about River.
“Me, Louis, Liam, Zayn, Perrie, River and… and Niall.” He says. I cough on air when Niall’s name falls from his lips and my eyes grow bigger.
“Yes. He did some digging and after knowing everything, decided to join us. He wants to protect you just as much as I do.” He explains. I nod my head and concentrate on everything I’ve just been told.
