Ruby's point of view
When I wake up, Chris is already dressed and ready, lying on top of the covers on his side of the bed and reading something on his iPad. I stretch and turn over to face him, smiling.
"Hey." I say.
He smiles at me, putting his iPad down. "Hey you. Sleep well?"
I nod, sitting up. "What time is it?"
"It's only eight, nobody's up yet." he kisses my cheek. "We all go to this little cafe that Jason's parents run for breakfast. You gonna sit next to me?"
I laugh. "Okay you sound like you're in fourth grade."
He grins, nudging me. "Shut up."
"And no, I'm not. We should keep our distance from each other a bit more, you know."
He doesn't like the sound of that and I don't either, really, I wish it was just us here but we know we can't tell anybody and I guess I'm looking forward to getting to know Jonas' friends a little better. Jon and Clare are as kind as ever. They're the kind of people that are just crazy nice and considerate and chatty. Matt and Marcus are identical twins and I can't tell them apart but they both seem very cool. Kyle is a quiet guy and he seems to be best friends with Lewis. Lewis is a very hyper guy who seems obsessed with Leighla who is very sarcastic, nice and funny whilst also being a bit intimidating. Jason is kind of annoying, I don't really like his sense of humour but he seems like a nice guy at the end of the day.
His parents are beyond kind. They serve us all for free, bringing us whatever we like. This is the first time they're meeting Carrie and I and they compliment Jason on what gorgeous friends he has and Carrie and I both giggle like school girls.
We all decide to have a beach day and Chris and I catch each other's eye for the smallest of moments when we get there, remembering last night. All in all, it's just a very relaxing day on the beach, we play volleyball, we swim, we even build sandcastles, we sunbathe. At one point, later on in the day, everybody goes in the water apart from Jon and Clare who are curled up together on a towel, Kyle who is fast asleep and Jason and I who didn't feel like it. Jason comes and sits beside me.
"Hey." he says in that oh so confident tone. "You're Jonas' sister, aren't you?"
"You're not like each other at all." he says.
I force a little laugh. "No, not really."
He looks at me for a moment. "You're really quiet."
I nod. "Yeah."
He laughs. "Unbelievable. I can't believe you're related to Jonas. He never shuts his freaking mouth."
I laugh at this one for real. "I know, right? I'll be sitting there, reading a book or doing my homework and he'll just start talking to me about things I really don't care about or people I don't know."
Jason grins. "Yes. Yeah, we'll be in the middle of an Xbox game online and he'll pause it, make us both lose our last life and just come out with something like 'Jason! The word read is the same as reed but not the same as red but it is the same as red!'."
I laugh again. "Yes, that's exactly him."
Jason grins. "I don't know how you put up with him all the time."
At that moment, everybody comes out of the sea and grabs their towels and stuff and I realise that it's starting to get dark. We all go back and get changed quickly before going out to dinner and going straight to bed.
