Ruby's point of view
Those months go fast. I don't want to leave England, I love it, but I know it will be worth it to go back and be with Chris and my family. I actually had a thought when I was booking the tickets. I got a flight but told my Mom I wasn't going to be back until a day after that so I can go and surprise Chris and we can have one night together without feeling like he has to go back to Jonas' room.
I text him when I'm in a cab on my way to his:
Hey, what are you up to? X
You're up unearthly early. And nothing, my parents are out for the weekend with our neighbours so I'm taking the opportunity of the peace and quiet and catching up on some Breaking Baddddd, what are you doing at this ungodly hour? X
We're only a couple of minutes away now. I reply:
No spoilers! And I'm just in a cab x
Oooh, where you going? x
Wouldn't you like to know
I don't send another message. I just knock on his door a couple of minutes later, incredibly excited to have that familiar feeling again that happens when I see him actually there in front of me. He opens the door looking pretty bored and then he looks shocked.
"What the fuck?!"
I laugh. "Hello to you too!"
He starts laughing too, pulling me into a hug. "I'm sorry, I'm just really excited! Oh my god! You're here! I thought you weren't coming until tomorrow!"
"I lied." I say, still laughing. I'm just so happy, I can't seem to stop. "Don't tell anyone, I just thought I could stay the night here and we wouldn't have to worry. If that's alright, I-"
"If that's alright?" he grins. "Ruby that's the most brilliant idea you've ever had, come in!"
We spend the whole evening eating whatever we find in the cupboards and we watch Breaking Bad all evening and when it gets to midnight, I go to put my pyjamas on and when I come back, he has put Dance Moms on and he's giving me a knowing smile. I give him the same knowing smile back and we stay like that for a moment before we both burst out laughing.
I sit down next to him and lean into his side and he puts his arm around me, kissing my forehead.
"Maybe you should call your mom and tell her you're not coming back for another couple of weeks." he murmurs.
"Yeah. I'll just hide out in your room, it would definitely work."
"For sure. I'll be in there, what more do you need?"
"Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Food and water is not as necessary as you are."
"You're not wrong."
I laugh. "God, I love spending time with you. Maybe I could just bring you back to England with me."
He smiles as if he's imagining it. "I wish. One day."
I nod, resting my head on his shoulder. "One day."
