Ruby's point of view
I stay in the living room with the two of them while they watch TV. I just sit on my laptop, not talking to them but I laugh with them when something funny happens on the show we're watching. I'm not a part of the conversation, I'm not really hanging out with them or anything, but I'm not gonna miss out on the opportunity to sit and admire Chris. I feel like such a creep but oh well.
He stays for dinner and sits next to me. It's times like this I really wish I had girl friends to talk to about boys. This would be such an exciting thing to tell them about, but I guess I just have to keep it to myself.
"So Chris, what are you studying at college?" my Mom asks, serving the pasta.
"I'm studying English literature as a minor subject but my main focus is photography." he says with a little smile.
"Photography?" Mom smiles back. "Wow that's great! You know Ruby here wanted to be a model for a little while, maybe she could be one of your subjects!"
"Mom that was when I was twelve years old." I mumble, blushing.
"So?" she shrugs. "You're even prettier now. Come on Chris, isn't there just something gorgeous about the way she looks? Don't you think she'd be an excellent model?"
He chuckles, looking at me and back at my mom. "Sure, she'd be a good model."
I blush even more, untucking my hair from behind my ears so it covers my face from him. I can't believe what my mother is doing right now. In fact, I can believe it and that's what horrifies me more than anything.
"Who'd want to spend their time taking pictures of Ruby anyway?" Jonas teases and I stick my tongue out at him.
At the end of the night, as Chris is thanking Mom for dinner and what not, I go and sit down on the couch, flicking through my facebook feed. It's so weird that everybody's still living their normal lives in Washington, that nothing's changed for them. I get so lost in that world that I barely notice when Chris speaks to me. I just hear a faint mumbling and then snap back into the real world where he's looking at me.
"Huh?" I ask, putting my phone down, shocked that he actually addressed me.
He smiles a little amused smile. "I said not to worry, Ruby, I won't make you my model."
I laugh, weakly and blush again. Am I seriously just going to blush every time he speaks to me? "Well, that's good."
He smiles, nodding and saying goodbye to everybody. As soon as he's gone, Jonas rolls his eyes at me. I frown.
"What?" I ask.
"You've got it bad." he says, shaking his head in disbelief and leaves the room.
